That night after dinner was done and everyone was sent back to their common rooms, Vesta Lestrange found herself curled up back in her spot next to the bookshelf in the common room. She wasn't quite ready to go to bed so she figured she could squeeze a few more chapters in before she was too exhausted.

"You know you really shouldn't be seen with those people." Vesta looked up to see her cousin, Draco, looming over her. "You may not carry the name Malfoy but you still uphold their reputation."

"I don't know what you're talking about." Vesta attempted to go back to reading her book.

"It would be bad enough if you were just with Ace Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks, but the WEASLEY twins as well, Vesta you know what father says about the Weasley's." Vesta simply rolled her eyes.

"Fortunately for me, unlike you, I am a person capable of forming my own opinion. Besides, I would have never gone back to sitting with them if you and your friends hadn't completely abandoned me today." Draco rolled his eyes, staring at her like she had lost her mind.

"We didn't-"

"Completely walk off without making sure the girl who not only has a severe dislike of crowded spaces, but completely had never been in the village before and didn't know how to go back to the castle, was still with you… No, totally not. But, I don't need you and your friends to keep up appearances anymore because I've made some actual friends for once in my life who care more about being kind to people than keeping up appearances." Draco was still staring at her like she wasn't speaking a language he understood. "Do I have to repeat myself, maybe english is too hard for you right now, Ce n'est pas parce que nous allons dans la même école que tu dois dicter tout ce que je fais. Or maybe German, Ich werde mich nicht von deinem Bedürfnis kontrollieren lassen, besser als alle anderen zu sein. Or possibly even latin, vilis."

"I-" Draco opened his mouth to speak again but before he could, the door to the common room opened, Professor Snape had entered the common room looking all too pleased with himself.

"Attention, all students are to get their sleep things, and make their way back down to the great hall, urgently, you are all to remain calm and collected, the headmaster will explain everything." Vesta gladly used this announcement as an excuse to stop talking to Draco and practically ran to her dorm to grab her things making her way back down to the great hall where she quickly sought out now blue haired Tonks, Ace Lupin, and Fred and George Weasley. She sat down next to them leaning up against the wall, however she didn't say anything, electing to pull out her book again instead.

"Diana Gabaldon," Fred grinned. "I'm impressed, Lestrange, I thought you were more straight laced than that." Vesta made it very obvious she was rolling her eyes.

"Oh boohoo the two main characters have sex, grow up, it happens to be a beautiful novel and if people would just let me read it instead of pointing out every five minutes that the two main characters have sex I would have finished it by now."

"I haven't the foggiest clue what you're on about, I meant the fact that she's a muggle author, weren't you raised by the Malfoys?" Fred Weasley knew very well that she was indeed raised by the Malfoys. Fred and George Weasley, Vesta had come to learn, liked a good joke. Especially when the jokes came at other peoples expense, usually the jokes were harmless fun, but she had heard of a dung bomb being set of in a fifth year Defense Against the Dark Arts class, although they claim to the very day that it was indeed an accident. Fred was the louder of the two and was typically the ring leader of all of their practical jokes, while George was quieter, more reserved and seemed to have a calmer outcome on life while still never saying no to a practical joke. The two also played Gryffindor quidditch team as beaters, Vesta had not yet told the group that Draco had asked her to play seeker in his place due to his injury, on the Slytherin quidditch team. Another thing that seems important to mention is that Ace Lupin and George Weasley had a rather obvious infatuation with each other, however, Vesta was unsure if they actually were together or not, as no one ever mentioned it, and at this point she was too afraid to ask.

Once everyone had made their way into the great hall Dumbledore took his place at the podium, as he did Vesta noticed that Asher Black, Ace's adoptive brother, hadn't joined them, she looked around hoping to see him sitting with some of their fellow Slytherins, but he wasn't there either.

"Quiet down!" The professor shouted over the murmuring of all the students. "I suppose you're wondering why I've called you all back down here and truthfully, you all deserve to know the truth. Sirius Black has been sighted within the castle walls and a full investigation is being underwent as we speak. You will be, however, spending the night here within the safety of the great hall. Under the supervision of your teachers, Aurors from the Ministry of Magic will be arriving shortly. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of the evening."

All of the sudden, Vesta Lestrange understood why she didn't see their friend anywhere.
