"Mélamar beware, the time has come,
the time of darkness has begun once again.
The golden star shall turn to darkness,
and a lost war shall come back.
A Calithil, the young woman of another beinging,
may show us how to fight.
So find your courage and follow the call of your heart,
or darkness may surely devour us all.
One of flame and one of sea,
two for life that they plea.
One of earth and one of sky,
two of which that wish to fly.
Gather the four and give them faith,
and the Calithil shall surely light the way.
Take them to war and show them their might.
The Calithil shall decide who stands,
the fate of Mélamar rests in her hands.
So pray she takes care, hope she chooses right,
as the darkened heart of one may try to lead the path of the Calithil."
1,000 years before this day, the greatest wizard of Mélamar, known as Tengenwa, had found in the library of Îdh an old parchment that had been written during the second age. It described events to come, a prophecy whose accomplishment would bring hope to the elves and dragons.
All beings that fought on the side of light were in dire need of hope, with the darkness rising once more in the East. Balthir's evil spirit was back, and he had built a new army of humans and monstrous creatures in the kingdom called Khamu, with the Great Mirror ever searching for the Calithil.
One by one, all realms and kingdoms would fall under his attack, unless they were united in order to defeat him once and for all by destroying him and the Great Mirror that served him. The Star Queen closed her eyes and grabbed the side of the basin, breathing deeply to recover her usual calm demeanor.
"Finally! Finally the Aratar had allowed me to see some of the meaning of the prophecy!" For many years, she had thought the Aratar would not allow her to see some of the prophecy about the Calithil.
But the night before, she had briefly seen images of a golden-haired mortal woman, and had understood that the prophecy was about the Calithil and an elven or dragon royal who would have children together. And today on this early morning, she had completely seen what the prophecy truly meant.
The woman was not in Mélamar but lived in an entirely different world called earth. As for the elven or dragon royal, she had debated numerous times with her husband Arveleg and their wizard friend Tengenwa about their identities.
There were only two warriors that could be considered the royals of the elven kingdom and the dragon kingdom: Prince Dúwath of Elenarda and Prince Telemnar of Fanyarë. But today, she only had seen two scenarios. Only two royals were truly a possibility. Each of them could accomplish the prophecy with the mortal woman.
Arveleg, Tengenwa, and Elentári had long debated how to approach this issue since yesterday, and had decided that the two warriors should be informed about their potential destiny. These revelations had been postponed until they had found the Calithil that would be the mother of the reborn elves or dragons.
And now, Elentári had just realized that the Calithil in question was in fact a mortal woman, living in a different world, and who would become half-elven and half-elemental when she is brought to Mélamar.
Which rose an entirely different and unexpected question: how would they bring this woman into Mélamar? All these years, they had been talking about the future father of the elflings or draglings, without realizing that finding their identities was probably the simplest part of their task.
