A few weeks after that day, the Duncan house was busy with the kids home and everyone getting the place ready for a special visit.
"Does everything look alright?" asked Amy after straightening a flower vase sitting on the table behind the couch.
"How come you're more nervous than I am?" asked Charlie.
"Because this is the first time your girlfriend will be meeting the family," said Amy.
"Yeah, which means I should be the one that's nervous," said Charlie.
"Can't argue with that logic," said Gabe who walked over with Lauren Dabney, his wife.
"But you have to realize that mom has to make practically everything about herself," he said. The doorbell then rang before Amy could say anything back about that statement.
"She's here," said Charlie while heading over to answer it.
"Hope I'm not late," said Nat as the door opened.
"Not at all, you're just in time actually," said Charlie before bending down to kiss her before moving to allow Nat into the house.
"By the way, the ramp outside is well built," said Nat.
"Thanks, Dad and I built it over the weekend," said Toby.
"Sorry that you went to all the trouble on my behalf, I mean that must have been a lot of work to put in," said Nat.
"It was no trouble at all, it actually makes things easier on us too," said Bob.
"By the way, these are my older siblings and younger brother," said Charlie while motioning to the group who were all standing over by the kitchen door.
"Let me guess, PJ the chef and his wife Skyler, Teddy the owner of Delv Co, and Gabe who's the manager at the local sports store," said Nat while pointing out each of them.
"That's right, and my husband wanted to be here to meet you, but the police station had urgent training come up and my son is away at boarding school right now," said Teddy.
"They'll have plenty of time to meet her later, and I'm also sure that PJ made enough for dinner for you to take some left-over home with you," said Toby.
"Totally did," said PJ, which got a good laugh out of everyone before moving to the kitchen to get some food.
