Malfoy sat back on his heels - he had started cursing his inattention from the moment Potter brought it up. It was unforgiveable to have not at least looked at the tools in his possession, even if he didn't know what they were used for. For goodness sakes, if some of these were mandatory articles to attend certain Muggle functions, he wouldn't even have known that he'd had them to use as a disguise!
Granted, he'd had reasons for not looking at them in Hogwarts. Elves were everywhere, and carried tales if you asked the right questions.
But Draco Malfoy intended to correct that error, immediately.
Harry pulled out something silvery - it didn't look like cloth, exactly - too much shine and not enough weave.
Draco lowered his voice, "What is that?"
Harry began unfolding it - for something that had seemed so slim, it was surprisingly large when unfolded - as if it was made of something lighter than parchment. Harry smiled, "It's a survival blanket."
"Why? How?" Draco asked.
Harry said, "It's thin, and light, but it's reflective. So your body heat stays inside, and warms you up."
Draco still looked slightly confused, lacking the words to even ask a question.
Harry sidled beside Draco, pulling the blanket over both of them. "Here, you'll see." Harry said confidently.
"Eww!" Draco responded, "I didn't want to share a blanket with you!"
Harry laughed at that. "Too bad!"
Draco did feel the reflected warmth, "It... feels pretty nice, actually," He said slowly, his fingers wrinkling the silvery substance. "It's thinner than a quilltip..."
Harry smiled, "Lightweight too. I know it looks metallic, but it's not metal."
Draco nodded, "Metal doesn't flex like this, and it would be heavy too..."
They sat there in silence for a few minutes, until Draco spoke again, "Uggh, it's getting hot under here."
Harry opened his mouth, and Draco kept going, "Yes, I know, that's the point!" He leaned over to Harry, and asked, "What else is in here?"
Harry fished around, and brought out a box. It said "Band-aid" on it.
"What? Is it something for helping wedding bands?" Draco asked.
Harry shook his head, "Short for bandages," he said, opening the box and showing many small flat items, one on top of the next.
He fished one out, tearing away what could only be a wrapper. "See?" Harry said, holding out a small... bandage?
"Is this really a bandage?" Draco asked in disbelief.
"Yes, I can show you how it works if you have an injury, even a really minor one."
Draco drew a knife (he always had one on his person), and pricked himself on a fingertip. It was only as he looked up, that he saw Harry was looking at him in ill-concealed horror.
"What?" Draco said, trying not to feel defensive.
"You did that... you've had a knife on you?"
"Had to. Not going to go weaponless into unknown territory. Even with you as a guide." Draco nodded.
"You... you just drew it, and hurt yourself!" Harry said.
"It's a common thing, when you're signing contracts. It doesn't hurt much, even." Draco said, leaving off how blood bonds and other things were borderline illegal (and it generally required a hefty bribe to make them legal, no matter how shiny-rump your morals were).
Harry peeled off more wrappings, and then pressed the bandage to Draco's finger. He didn't even need to make a full circuit of Draco's finger.
Draco eyed his finger, then held it upside down. "How does it stick like that?" Draco asked.
"Some sort of light glue," Harry said.
"You glued this onto my perfect hand?!" Draco Malfoy said, ostentatious to the point that it was clearly mockery.
"Relax, it'll come off." Harry said with a smile.
Draco looked down at it, bending his hand, "This is amazing!" And he gave Potter a genuine smile.
