This is based on 9x13.
Hailey and Kevin were the only ones left in the bullpen. Kevin left and drove home but Hailey decided to go on a run even though it was the middle of the night. Hailey's run was going normally until she heard a crash. She looked over to see what happened and was barely able to dive out of the way. She then called it in and dove into the freezing cold river, while screaming for help.
"HELP HELP I NEED HELP" Hailey screamed as she dove into the river and went under to try to rescue the people in the car. When she got down to the car the woman grabbed her wrist hard, it hurt but she ignored it. She was focused on getting them both out. She was able to get the man out before help arrived. The firefighters took after when they got there and the parametric took the main and Hailey into the ambulance and drove them to med. When she got there she dove out of the ambulance and Will was standing there. He immediately got concerned when he saw her
"Hails what happened are you ok" Will asked concerned
"Did they get the women out?" Hailey asked frantically ignoring wills question
"I'm not sure let's get you inside" he replied putting a hand on her back.
She jumped when he touched her and he quickly apologized.
"Sorry sorry you're safe I'm not going to hurt you no one is going to hurt you it's ok," Will said soothingly.
He then led her inside and got her in a room. He gave her a gown and had her put it on while he tried to call jay a couple of times but he didn't answer. He then called Platt instead who did answer and said she was on her way with some warm clothes. Once Hailey was changed, Will came back in and went to take her vitals. She immediately asked for jay when she walked in
" Can you call Jay? I want Jay," she asked, trying not to cry.
"Ssh I tried calling him but he didn't answer Platt is on her way I need to check your vitals now.' he replied
He took her vitals and thankfully her breathing and oxygen normals were normal but her blood pressure and heart rate were high but that was pretty normal given the situation. Will got her hooked up to an IV and got her a warming blanket because she was slightly hypothermic her temperature was 95. He checked he cleaned up and bandaged her wrist as well. Right as he finished up with everything, platt came in.
"Hey, kiddo are you ok?" Platt asked
N-o D-o you can- know if they got the lady" Hailey asked with a shaky voice holding back tears.
Ssh just breathe hails I don't know yet" she replied softly
Just then Jay came running in and immediately hugged her. She started crying into his chest.
Ssh hails breathe just breathe you're safe it's ok" he soothed
Will walked back into the room right as Jay calmed her down.
"Any word on the women?" Hailey asked hopefully.
" I'm so sorry Hails she didn't make it" Will replied with a sad tone
Hailey immediately started having a panic attack. Platt and jay took her hands and tried to calm her down
" ssh ssh just breathe take some breaths with me in 1,2,3,4 out 1,2,3,4 they did this to her breathing went back to normal
They left the hospital and went back to the district. Hailey held onto Jay's hand the whole drive over. Her anxiety was through the roof. They were working on tracking down the guy to ask what happened when the woman's husband came in. platt came up and told Hailey he was there and Hailey went to talk to him. Upon talking to him she learned that the man in the car with her wanted a friend or coworker but was actually robbing her. Hailey came back into the bullpen with a shocked look on her face Jay noticed immediately. He immediately went up to her and took her hand
Hail, what's wrong, what happened?" jay asked concerned
"I just talked to the husband and he said that wasn't a friend or a coworker and it was her car that was in the river. She was doing a money run at the bank right by the river. We need to check the bank security camera. He thinks she was getting robbed."
They checked the footage and confirmed the woman had been robbed so they quickly tracked him down. They found him at a gym and Hailey got thrown into the pool chasing him. Jay found her in the pool and helped her get the man out of the pool. Thankfully Kevin ran in and was able to take the man away. Jay helped her out of the pool and talked her through her second panic attack of the day. Jay left her with Kim while he went to grab spare clothes out of the truck since she was soaked. She was shaking from being cold and anxious so they went into the family bathroom and Jay helped her change. They went to the husband's house and gave him some closure.
When they got home Haileys anxiety spiked again.
"Can you shower with me? I don't want to be alone," Hailey asked
" of course babe" jay replied
They both stood under the hot water and Jay comforted her and told her she was safe the whole time. Hailey's anxiety was still bad so jay got her aroma therapy
Hailey fell asleep in jays lap but Hailey shot up in bed from a nightmare
"Ssh your ok it's ok your safe just breathe it was just a dream your safe it's ok your ok" jay said soothingly
"I- it- it's all m- my fault i- am the real- reason that lady died" Hailey sobbed
"Hey ssh none of this was your fault you did great hails you did everything you could this is not on you none of this is on you," jay told her
Hailey had 2 more nightmares that night and it took her a week and a half to be able to fully sleep through the night but jay was with her every step of the way
