TW for assault this one is morbid don't read if you get triggered easily
Jay was walking home from the store when 3 people grabbed him out of nowhere. He tried to fight back but he couldn't. He was overpowered, it was 3 against 1. The 3 masked men began to beat him. They kicked him in the back and stomach, punched him in the face, kicked him in the shins, stomped on his foot, kicked him in the head, stepped on his wrist, and kicked him in his manhood. Jay was able to choke out some words when they finally stopped.
"W-wh-why are y-yo-you doi-doing-th-this to-me" Jay choked out.
" You put my brother in jail that's why" one of the masked men replied, kicking him in the back again.
Suddenly they heard sirens and the men ran away. Sylvie, Violet, and a few patrol men came running up to him.
The patrolmen asked what happened.
" Go-got Ju-jumped they w-wen-went that-wa-way" Jay choked out pointing in the direction the men ran off.
Sylvie and Violet began to try to treat him.
" What hurts jay," Sylvie asked
"Left foot, both shins, right wrist and shoulder, face, head, back, neck, and stomach" Jay choked out.
" Ok jay you're going to be ok" Violet soothed
"Can you call Hailey?" jay asked
Violet called Hailey,explained the citation, and gave her the location. She got there 2 minutes later.
"Jay jay oh my god jay" Hailey salad trying not to cry.
She grabbed jays hand as they started to treat him.
" I'm going to start an IV and give you morphine," Sylvie told them.
"Focus on me babe focus on me," Hailey told him knowing how much he hates needles.
They got the IV in and injected morphine into his IV
"Ok jay you should start to feel some relief in a couple of minutes," Violet told him.
They got him onto the backboard and put the c-collar on him. Once they got him into the ambulance,they began to put gauze on his cuts to stop the bleeding as Hailey held his hand.
They got to med and will conner and Natalie met them in the ambulance bay.
Jay Halstead 33-year-old male jumped GCS 15" Sylvie told the 3 doctors.
They all got him transferred onto the bed and took his vitals.
"Breath sounds clear on both sides," Conner said.
They did a FAST scan and determined he had no internal bleeding, just bad bruising.
Let's get a portable x-ray in here" Natalie said. They got an x-ray and saw that he had multiple broken ribs 2 which were close to his lungs.
"let's get a head ct ten get him up to surgery to plate his ribs," Conner said as he read the Xrays.
They got the ct and determined he had a grade 2 concussion but no brain bleed.
Before they got him up to surgery they x-rayed his shoulder wrist both shins and left foot. His shoulder had a grade 2 separation but thankfully didn't require surgery, his right wrist had a break in the scaphoid and luckily it didn't require surgery, his left foot was shattered and did require surgery, his left shin was cracked, and his right one was badly bruised.
Conner took him into surgery and plated his ribs. Dr Smith from ortho came down and put pins and screws in Jay's foot.
Conner and Dr. Smith went out to tell Hailey and the rest of the intelligence his surgery was complete and he did great.
Dr smith then asked Hailey how her foot was doing
"Hey, Hailey, how's your food doing?" dr. smith asked
"Much better thank you," Hailey replied.
"Good glad to hear it," Dr.Smith told her
The team went into Jay's room when he woke up. Hailey was at his bedside first.
" Hey, how are you feeling? How's your pain?" Hailey asked .
"I'm really sore everything hurts" Jay replied"
"I'm sorry babe" Hailey replied
Will came in a couple of minutes later.
"Hey how's your pain," he asked his brother
"Everything hurts" he replied
"I know I'm sorry" Will replied injecting morphine into his IV.
Conner and Dr.Smith came in a couple of minutes later.
" You did great in surgery. Your ribs should be healed in 4 weeks. You have a grade 2 concussion, thankfully no broken bones in your face, just bruising and no internal damage from the huts to your stomach ." Conner informed him.
" Your right wrist has a break in the scaphoid and lunate, and your right shoulder has a grade 2 separation treatment for ice, rest, anti-inflammatories, cortisone shots, and physical therapy. Your left foot is shattered and I had to put pins and screws in it. Your left shin is cracked and your right one is badly bruised. You'll be on bed rest for a while"
" Ok thank you" jay thanked both of the doctors.
Voight got his statement once conner and Dr smith asked.
Once he was done taking his statement he asked if he had any questions.
" Ok thanks Jay, do you have any questions?" voight asked.
"Yes one how did it get called in did someone call it in?" jay replied.
"No the fall detection on your apple watch did" voight answered.
Jay rested for a couple of hours and iced his shoulder.
Dr.smith came in and said that he was going to do the cortisone shots.
"Ok jay I know it sucks but I need to do the cortisone shots I'm going to do 2 now and 2 more in 2 to 3 days" Dr.smith informed him.
"Uggh jay groaned'
Hailey grabbed his hand
"Focus on me babe don't think about it squeeze my hand"
Jay winced and squeezed Haileyss hand when Dr.smith was doing the shots
"Ssh just breathe you're doing so good" Hailey soothed
Dr.smith finished the injections and then pushed some anti-inflammatories into his IV
"Good job Jay, you should start to feel better soon.
The team was looking for who did this to jay. They checked PODS and were able to get pictures of the guy's faces unmasked because they walked right in front of a camera without them before putting them on. They were all arrested and charged with assault on an officer.
Jay got discharged 5 days later but had to be on bed rest when he was home.
The first 5 days at home went by fast because Jay mainly slept the whole time because of his concussion. He only woke up to go to the bathroom and to eat and drink. However on day 5, he noticed one of the cuts on his wrist was infected, he called Will and will have him come in
" Your wrist is infected but I can treat it with a shot of antibiotics I need you to change into a gown" Will informed him
" uggh" jay replied " why do I need to change into a gown though," he asked.
" The antibiotic shot needs to go in your thigh" Will replied/.
Hailey helped Jay get changed into the gown then they waited for Will to come back. He came back a couple of minutes later with the shot.
" Ok jay this is going to burn' Will said cleaning off jays thigh
Hailey took jays hand as Will was cleaning off his leg.
"Ok, here we go," Will said.
Jay winced and gritted his teeth when he felt the burning of the shot.
"Ssh focus on me don't think about it squeeze my hand I know it burns I know just breathe". Hailed soothed.
"Sorry man" Will said as he put a band-aid on Jay's leg.
"Good job babe you did good" Hailey praised him
The next 2 days went by slowly because he wasn't allowed to use screens but was back on a somewhat normal sleep schedule. He mainly talked with Hailey and the team would come over and talk to him. 2 days later he got cleared to use screens again. Hailey and jay spent the next few days watching movies.
Jay was off bed rest 2 weeks after he got home and Hailey went back to work. Jay watched movies for the next 2 weeks until he was able to go back to work on desk duty. Jay was annoyed that he couldn't be in the field yet but he was happy he was back at work after being out for a month. He got the cast off of his shin a week later and now just had a boot on his foot. A week after that he was able to get the cast off his wrist and was just in a brace for the next 2 weeks. 3 weeks later he was able to get the boot off his foot and start physical therapy for his shoulder. After a month of physical therapy, he was cleared to go back into the field
15 weeks after being attacked by was back in the field catching criminals
