Stand alone story, takes place during Lily, Severus, and the Marauders fifth year. In this "universe" Sarah and Jareth are just regular students at Hogwarts.

Sarah enjoyed her lunch period at Hogwarts. She was walking next to her best friend, books in hand, as they walked down the corridor making their way to the Great Hall. She looked into the cucumber green eyes of her red headed best friend who had been talking nonstop about the class they just had.

"Isn't it all just fascinating Sarah?" Sarah couldn't help but smile at her friend.

"Of course, Lily."

"I just can't believe with have to share the class with Potter and his friends. Don't get me wrong about Remus, and I suppose Peter is not as bad, but honestly Potter and Black are something else entirely."

"I agree with you on Lupin, but Pettigrew Lily? Really?" Sarah replied scrunching up her nose.

"What's wrong with Peter?" Lily asked turning her head to the side.

"I don't know, there's just something about him that I can't quite place. One minute he seems like a decent fellow, and then others he just reminds me of a rodent. He probably should have been sorted into Slytherin." Sarah responded.

"Sarah!" Lily exclaimed.

"You asked." Sarah defended.

"Well at least you don't have to spend most of your classes with them."

"Perks of being in Ravenclaw."

"I wish you had been sorted into Gryffindor, we would have shared a dorm and everything." Lily said wistfully.

"It's too bad we had not been friends before the sorting, I would have convinced you to join Ravenclaw." Lily stuck out her tongue at Sarah as a response. "At least we found each other in the first class we had together, let's thank our lucky stars for that." Sarah said gently nudging her friend.

"I am sorry about Black though." Lily continued.

"Why are you apologizing?"

"He overheard me talking to Severus about your liking Shakespeare."

"So that's why he stated reciting poetry to me?"

"I will say the look on your face was priceless." Lilly laughed out.

"It surprised me. Completely out of nowhere during class too, and then to have Potter egging him on. They are lucky Professor McGonagall only took points away, plus we got lucky that she held the group back, probably to tell them off, I'm sure. I'm surprised Potter didn't start declaring his everlasting love to you again." Lily laughed.

"I wouldn't put it past him to have had something planned. I'm certain he just didn't want to upset Professor McGonagall anymore then Black already had. Look there's Severus." Lily said waving her hand in the air to get the Slytherin's attention. Sarah grabbed onto Lily's elbow trying to pull her hand back down. She had hoped that the Slytherin would not have noticed, but her luck went only so far. "What's wrong?" Lily asked.

"Severus is talking to Kingsley." Sarah hissed in her friend's ear.

"Oh, I'm sorry Sarah, I hadn't noticed him, he's been spending a lot of time with Severus lately, hasn't he?" Lily asked.

"This is getting ridiculous." Sarah stated. Standing next to Severus with his back turned towards them was Jareth Kingsley, a Slytherin a year above them. He teased her since she was a first year, just as James Potter teased Lily.

However, Kingsley was far more charming than the Gryffindor, he was popular with the students, he was popular with the Professors, and he was a flirt. James made a fool of himself whenever he was near Lily, but there was no doubt that the boy only had eyes for her. Jareth Kingsley would flirt and charm anyone, Severus once said Jareth was trying to make Sarah jealous, Sarah stated all it did was make her more distrusting of him. It was the chase Sarah had told Lily once, and that he'd move on once he got bored. Lily once asked Sarah why she wouldn't just give Kingsley a chance. Sarah said she would happily give Kingsley a chance when Lily gave on to Potter. Lily never brought the subject up again.

Sarah debated if she had enough time to get away without anyone noticing that she was there, but Severus had alerted Kingsley to their presence by waving back to Lily. Kingsley turned towards them, his mismatched eyes landing on Sarah.

"He isn't that bad." Lily replied lamely. Sarah watched as Kingsley smiled at her. She leaned closer to her friend.

"He is arrogant, prideful, absolutely rude!"

"Since when is he rude?" Lil asked, Sarah ignored the questioned and continued her rant.

"He acts like royalty, all high and mighty. He just grates on my nerves, it's like he purposefully pushes my buttons. Lily really, can't we just skip lunch, you know Kingsley and I are like oil and water. He's going to pick a fight."

"Sarah it's too late now, just ignore him if he bothers you so much, you were able to ignore Sirius just fine." Lily said grabbing onto her friend by the elbow and pulling her towards the two Slytherin boys.

"Hullo Severus. Hullo Kingsley." Lily said cordially with a smile.

"Hello Lily. Hello Sarah." Severus responded.

"Hello Severus, Kingsley." Sarah said giving Kingsley a quick once over as though to show him how unimpressed she was.

"Miss. Evans, Sarah." Sarah made no comment though she couldn't help the twitch of her nose. She decided to move her head back throwing her long hair that was draped over the front of her shoulder back. She gave Kingsley a look of defiance.

"How was class Severus?" Lily said trying to make small talk. Sarah tried her best to keep her face emotionless, but Kingsley smiled at her like a cat with a mouse. Sarah wanted nothing more than to slap the smile off his face.

"You look radiant today, Miss. Williams." Kingsley said, as Lily and Severus continued with their small talk.

"Thank you." Sarah responded, trying to show him that nothing would phase her.

"It must be the flush from the poetry Sirius Black recited to her during class." Lily said with a smile. "Sarah blushed so prettily." Kingsley smiled faltered and his eyes seemed to darken.

"Lily!" Sarah exclaimed when suddenly, an arm wrapped around her shoulders and Sarah felt her body being pulled away from her friend and into the side of a warm body, the sudden jolt almost caused her books to fall to the floor.

"Do my ears deceive me or are you talking about me? A beautiful blush indeed, though Williams is always beautiful. I knew you would like the poetry luv." Sirius said as he kept his arm around her shoulder resting his cheek on the top of her head. Sarah didn't have a moment to respond before she noticed Kingsley had stepped right in front of them.

"I suggest you remove yourself from this conversation Black." Jareth bit out.

"What are you going to do about it, Kingsley?" Sirius said stepping in front of her and pushing her back a step as though to protect her.

"Hi Evans." James said during the exchange, giving a small wave to Lily who took a step closer to Severus.

"Potter." She responded. Remus stepped next to Sarah and gently touched her elbow. When she turned towards him Remus gestured his heads to the books in her hands before he reached out and took the books from her. Sarah gave Remus a grateful smile.

"You wouldn't want to know what I would do Black." Kingsley responded.

"You've been hovering around Williams far too much Kingsley. Isn't there a Slytherin girl that caught your fancy?" Sirius taunted.

"If anyone else has been vying for my attention, I've taken no notice. The only one that caught my eye is Sarah." Jareth said looking past Sirius and at Sarah. Sirius stepped in front of her blocking Jareth's gaze.

"Williams," Sirius started, not liking how Kingsley so casually said Sarah's name, "is out of your league Kingsley." Sirius barked.

"Oh, and you think she's in yours Black?" Jareth said crossing his arms. "Besides, since when have you sought after Sarah?" Jareth said tauntingly. "Weren't you just chasing after McKinnon a few days ago?"

Remus got Sarah's attention by nudging her, he gestured with his head towards the direction of the Great Hall, Sarah looked at back at the two boys squabbling in front of her, before turning back to Remus and nodding with a smile. He held out his arm for Sarah to take, she did not hesitate and placed her arm in his. Without a backwards glance they made their way down the corridor. Lily and Severus followed the two, walking in step next to each other. James debated on saying something to Sirius but chose instead to catch up with the others and walk next to Lily, on the opposite side of Snape. Peter watched as everyone gained distance from them before turning to his friend.

"Um, Sirius?" Peter squeaked.

"Not now Peter." Sirius growled.

"It's just, everyone has gone off to lunch." Peter responded quickly beginning to follow the others.

"What?" Sirius said turning to the see the backs of his friends walking down the corridor. Jareth who also had noticed turned and glared in the direction of Sirius.

"Moony! How could you?!" Shouted Sirius after his friend who was at the end of the corridor about to turn with Sarah out of eyesight. "What a dog." Sirius said under his breath.

"I suggested you give up Black, I've had Sarah as my chosen since I first saw her." Jareth said refusing to run down the hall but keeping a brisk pace.

"Not a chance Kingsley." Sirius replied. They continued to spit insults at each other as they followed the others to the Great Hall.

A/N: My best inspiration is procrastination. Every time I take a class I always find time to write and avoid homework, don't worry the homework will get done, eventually.

Are there mistakes in this piece? Probably. Am I impatient to post this so I will not be going over it with a fine tooth comb? Most definitely.

Kingsley is my go to last name, but since Jareth is only a Wizard in this universe and not the Goblin King he gets the name, and Sarah gets to keep hers. Will there be more of Sarah in this time period? I don't know maybe, never say never.

In any case happy readings!
