Chapter 1: Enter Sakura Haruno (Again)

A young girl could be seen hiding in a tall bush watching an eating Pokémon. Judging by her outfit she was clearly rich as she was dolled up in a white dress with a diamond-encrusted belt, white sneakers, a pink backpack, and a brown sun hat. Her pink hair cascaded down her back in soft pink waves. Her name is Sakura Haruno, and she's a Pokémon trainer who has hopes of beating the Pokémon League. However, people who have seen her in town before would notice there was something different about her.

Sakura narrowed her eyes at the eating Pokémon that she wanted to capture. It has been a couple of days since she entered the body of her counterpart who fell sick and died alone in her room. It took her days to understand the memories of her new body, her feelings, her life, and how she understood the world. She thought it was sad that the original died alone and depressed because of her failures and her trying to live up to her family name.

She was an illegitimate child that came from a rich family that produced top trainers, but the problem lay with her stepmother who spoiled her rotten until her personality became unpleasant which not only affected her relationships in her personal life but her relationship with the only Pokémon she had.

Not only that, but the original owner also resented her stepmother for letting her start her journey at the age of nineteen which was later than usual. There were so much depressing feelings built up in this body that she didn't know what to do when she first woke up in the body. Right now, she needed to do was deepen the relationship between her Pokémon and her which could be done through battle. Secondly, the other thing she needed to do was capture two more Pokémon for the gym battle. The relationships with her family weren't something she didn't want to approach yet.

The original Sakura's relationship with her Eevee was a tumultuous one with Eevee's personality being more prideful and battle oriented and with Sakura's lack of battle skills and losses, it was clear the Pokémon wouldn't like its trainer. Furthermore, Eevee was only recently given to Sakura and not when she was younger like other kids so the two didn't have time to bond properly. Having a family of top trainers where no one wanted to teach a child who was born of an affair will only lead to failures.

However, for her who was born and raised in a hostile world with danger lurking at every corner, this wouldn't be anything for her. She smiled to herself sensing her chakra that was growing inside her day by day and she was already sending a streamline of chakra to her forehead. Though she had to retrain her body, she could fulfill the original Sakura's dreams while enjoying her second chance at life. She pulled out the singular poke ball she had, releasing Eevee from its confines.

"Eevee!" Eevee looked at her once and turned his head away from her in defiance.

Sakura got on her knees in front of the cute Pokémon. "Eevee, look at me," Sakura said softly, staring at him.

As if sensing something was wrong Eevee reluctantly looked her in the eyes. "Vee?"

"Do you understand clearly now?" Sakura said, staring directly back at him, "The "Sakura" that you knew is gone. She died when she got into an accident. I'm her but from a different world completely. I don't know if you understand but I wanted to let you know because she truly wanted your approval to be better."

"Eevee?" Eevee tilted his head to the side in confusion.

Sakura smiled sadly before placing her palm on Eevee's head, but he moved away to avoid her touch. She expected this outcome, but she still felt it was right to let the Pokémon know what happened even if he didn't understand. "I'm sorry, Eevee. I'll do my best to be a better trainer in the future so please help me as much as you can."

Eevee looked at her with a look of understanding and surprise. He understood her words and was clearly surprised by them. Eevee nodded slowly after a long time as if giving her a chance. "Eevee!" He chirped with determined eyes.

"Alright." Sakura got back on her feet and pointed at the Machop that had finished eating and was staring at them. "Eevee, we're going to battle and capture that Machop so please lend me your strength."

"Vee!" Eevee jumped forward, lowering its body and glaring at the Machop.

"Machop!" Machop got into its battle stance.

She had the type disadvantage in this battle but that never stopped her from defeating opponents in her previous life that had the advantage over her. She smiled before launching her first attack. "Eevee use Baby-Doll Eyes!" She was going to finely develop her own battling style and train her Pokémon hard in the future so this was the very first step.

Eevee jumped towards Machop with wide beady eyes that shined like stars. Machop's battle stance slackened, and Sakura quickly ordered another attack. "Eevee, use Shadow Ball!" The brown Pokémon opened its mouth with a roar and charged up a ghastly black ball before launching it at the fighting type. The shadow ball crashed into Machop and exploded on impact, launching the fighting type a few feet back.

Sakura didn't waste any time and drew the poke ball from her bag. She threw it at the stunned Pokémon and the ball hit it on its head, sucking it inside. She waited with bated breath as the poke ball shook wildly, signifying that she needed to weaken it some more. She glanced at Eevee who was still in its battle stance watching the poke ball. However, contrary to her expectations, the ball stopped shaking, signaling her success in capturing the fighting type Pokémon.

"We finally caught our first Pokémon, Eevee," Sakura said, walking up to the small Pokémon and looking down at him with a smile. "You did an awesome job."

"Vee!" Eevee raised its head proudly at the praise.

Sakura took up her newly captured Pokémon and tucked it into her bag safely and returned Eevee to its ball. She thought about her plans going forward after acquiring another Pokémon. This new body of hers only developed chakra due to her soul inhabiting it, however, this body was untrained, and she wasn't used to such a soft body. The original owner was rich and lived lavishly so she had no need to work out. She was going to train this body every day along with her Pokémon. Another thing she needed to do was visit the local Oreburgh library to gain more knowledge on this world and Pokémon.

"Alright Sakura, our next stop is the museum." Sakura walked out of the grass and back into the city. The original owner of the body had entered a lottery and the winner gets a free fossil Pokémon. The winners were being announced very soon. She entered that raffle because of her inability to capture a Pokémon. The pinkette smiled sadly, hoping the other version of her could see that she accomplished her goal by capturing her first Pokémon.

She entered the museum, spotting a large crowd of trainers who also entered the raffle. 'A lot of people entered this contest. The odds of me winning are very low.' Sakura thought as she stood at the back of the crowd. She could barely see a line of poke balls on the table on the small stage that the announcer was talking about.

"Alright, yesterday everyone present entered this lottery to win one of the many fossils Pokémon we have displayed here! We will now make the draw and announce the winner!"

Sakura and everyone else watched the announcer dip his hand into a box and pulled out a piece of paper. She listened to the whispers and chatter around her. Everyone desperately wanted to win this lottery as fossil Pokémon were rare and strong as well. She watched the announcer read the paper several times before raising his head with a smile.

"And the winner is…Sakura Haruno!" The announcer screamed.

Everyone looked around in confusion. The question "Who is that?" was thrown around a few times by several people.

"Isn't that the girl who lost the gym battle multiple times?"

"Yes, she's been in Oreburgh city for at least two months now."

"Sucks that she was the one who got the Pokémon. Poor guy doesn't know it's going to be stuck with a weak trainer."

Ignoring the pointed words at her, she grinned and shouted. "That's me! Excuse me!" Sakura shouted, pushing her way through the crowd. Just like that, she was able to get her third Pokémon. She didn't care what the other people say and wasn't phased in the slightest by their words. She went onto the small stage with a smile.

"Alright, Miss Haruno." The announcer said, guiding her towards a specific poke ball. "On the paper, you chose the number 10. So, the fossil Pokémon you won is Tyrunt, the Jaw Fossil!"

Sakura could hear a few cries of disappointment in the crowd, but she didn't care. She won fair and square, so she took up the poke ball happily before turning to the announcer. "Thank you very much!" Sakura flashed a beautiful smile, making the announcer blush.

She tucked the poke ball away in her bag and exited the museum in a flash. She didn't have time to waste as she was going to challenge the gym in two days' time again. She was going to spend the rest of the day in the library scouring through books. Tomorrow she will train and bond with her Pokémon before her gym battle.
