Chapter 2: Training Session

There weren't many places in Oreburgh City where she could do the kind of training she wanted but she managed to find an area near the mines. Fully suited up in a pair of leggings, sneakers, gloves, and a top tank, she was ready to do some training. She spent the rest of the day yesterday reading through many books that were able to shine a light on a lot of things like the vast history and myths in this world that are associated with the legendary Pokémon. This world was vastly different from her own, but it wasn't peaceful as she thought. However, she managed to buy two essential books one on Pokémon Care and the other a basic Pokémon Listings book that lists all the Pokémon in Sinnoh Region and their details like their moves. These things could also be checked at the Pokémon Center, but she wasn't always going to be near a center in the future. This book was also for those who didn't have the rare and exclusive Pokédex.

Sakura placed her hands on her hips, observing the rocky terrain around her with was like the gym's own terrain. The original Sakura watched many battles on television to try and improve so she could clearly remember most of them. She realized there were not many trainers who utilized the terrain around them as they should. When she was a shinobi, using the terrain to her advantage was encouraged. There were also moves that completely changed the terrain to benefit the Pokémon in battle as well and those were rarely used in battle. In the future, she wanted her Pokémon to be able to battle on all terrains at least.

She released her Pokémon from their confines after much planning. In a flash of light, her three Pokémon appeared in front of her looking around with confused looks. Eevee raised its head and looked away from her as usual while Machop and Tyrunt looked at her curiously. Sakura was surprised by Tyrunt's size as she didn't expect him to be as tall as her shoulders and she could easily ride on him.

"Hello, Machop and Tyrunt." Sakura waved at them while Eevee peeped at them from the corner of his eye, "I'm Sakura and I didn't get to meet you properly yet. Today, we'll be doing some training to prepare for an upcoming gym battle. However, you won't be training alone as I will be training along with you."

Hearing the word 'training' made Machop raise its fist happily. "Machop!"

Tyrunt let out a tiny roar in agreement.

Sakura nodded her head and turned to Eevee. "Eevee, do you want to join us in training?"

Eevee rolled his eyes. "Vee!" He replied with a slight smile.

"Great!" Sakura clapped and stood up. "Alright, let us warm up with a couple of laps in this area."

Sakura, along with her Pokémon, jogged several times around the area. Sakura narrowed her eyes at the Pokémon that were in front of her and couldn't believe how unfit this body was. She was only keeping up with them because she was carefully circulating chakra throughout her body to massage her muscles. Sakura was winded when she was finished compared to her Pokémon that looked tired but not like she was.

"You did amazing!" She told her Pokémon as she tried to catch her breath. They looked happy to be training and Eevee was happy to see her training as well. "The second part of our training will be in the mines to battle against wild Pokémon." She told them before going into the mines.

When she entered the mines, it was dark but there was still some light to be seen from the crystals embedded in the walls. Suddenly, a Geodude emerged from the rubble ready to attack them for disturbing their sleep. "Alright, Eevee, you're up first!"

Eevee POV

"Dodge, then use Sand Attack!"

Eevee jumped into his battle stance with excitement and quickly sidestepped to his right to dodge the attack that the Geodude unleashed. His trainer shouted her order, and it pained him to listen to her, but he used his back legs to kick up a cloud of sand to blind the rock-type Pokémon. He really didn't like his trainer who was weak and made him faint more times than he can count. It was unfortunate that he was paired with her and had no choice but to stick around. However, lately, she has changed a lot with made him rethink his view of her.

"Dodge and Use Shadow Ball!"

He jumped into the air, charging his Shadow Ball attack, and launching it at the rock-type Pokémon that threw a large rock in his direction. The attacks clashed and exploded on impact sending rocky shrapnel everywhere. She suddenly started talking about the different worlds and stuff he didn't understand. He only loved battling to his heart's contents. The change she displayed was pleasing to him and he was surprised to see her training with him and his new companions.

"Finish it off with Bite!"

He ran forward as his trainer called out another order and bite down on the Pokémon hard with his teeth and knocked it out completely. He was surprised that she caught companions for him because for a long time he thought he would remain her only Pokémon. His new companions also seemed eager to battle from what they discussed. They still weren't sure what to think about Sakura but liked her fine enough. He wouldn't tell them about how she was before and let them form their own thoughts about her. If she keeps up like this maybe, he'll come to like her a lot more.

"Great job, Eevee!" Sakura praised the brown Pokémon while making notes in her mind. Eevee's small size awarded him with speed so she will work on his evasive skills and speed in the future. The Pokémon could evolve into several different types, but she wasn't sure which type he wanted to evolve into, but she would prefer him to remain like this.

"I'm pretty strong right now!" Eevee smirked.

"You were awesome, Eevee!" Tyrunt roared.

"Your evasive skills are top-notch," Machop added.

"Thanks, bros!" Eevee preened.

"Alright, you stay back for a while next." Sakura said before turning to Machop "Machop, the next wild Pokémon is for you."

Machop POV

"Chop!" Machop was pumped up as he followed his new trainer further into the mine. When he first met his trainer, he wasn't impressed but after she managed to catch him, he was curious. Now, he was pleased by his new trainer who also liked to train like him, but she was also pretty like a princess. Her appearance made him want to protect her at all costs.

"A Graveler is coming this way. Let's go, Machop!" His trainer shouted and he ran into the fray with his fighting spirit heightened. His eyes locked on the Graveler rolling towards him with great speed. He didn't know what his trainer had planned but he was ready.

"Machop, use Knock Off!" Machop roared, swinging his glowing left hand to his right before backhanding the Graveler. He knocked the Graveler using rollout off course and crashed into a wall in a cloud of dust. The Graveler emerged from the dust cloud with a roar and tackled him. He flew backward, skidding on his feet on the rocky terrain.

"Use Low Sweep!"

Machop grinned before darting towards the Graveler who threw a large rock at him. He dropped to the ground and slid across the rocky floor. His foot connected with the rock type's foot and sent him to the ground with a crash. The thrilling feel of battling against this Pokémon made him happy. This was his element and her thrived on the battlefield. His trainer was doing a good job directing him and he was enjoying it very much.

"Finish with Knock Off!" Machop was upon the rock type before it could get back up with another backhand, knocking out the Pokémon.

"Excellent work, Machop!" Sakura told the fighting type as he walked up to them. She noted that the fighting type was sturdy and loved to fight like Eevee. She would work on strength, evasion, and defense with him. Perhaps, she could even train with him personally.

"Your battle was amazing, bro." Eevee chirped to Machop who looked happy.

"I can't wait for my turn next!" Tyrunt roared happily, "You were so cool!"

"Thanks, guys." Machop grinned happily.

Sakura raised an eyebrow at her Pokémon talking to each other. 'I wonder what they're talking about.' She thought before leading them further into the mine. "Tyrunt, you're next." She told the dinosaur Pokémon. She already knew what he would evolve into after some research. Dinosaurs were even in her old world's history, so she wanted to teach Tyrant not just evasive maneuvers but increase his strength mainly because of his ability Strong Jaw.

Tyrunt trotted behind his owner where he was beginning to live very much. He will miss his friends that were at the museum, but it was time he started his journey to become strong. He still had to get to know his trainer, but he was sure he was going to love her.

"Another Geodude up ahead!" Sakura announced before shouting her orders, "Use Bite!"

Tyrunt stomped forward and bite down on the unsuspecting Geodude and knocked it out easily. Tyrunt blinked and looked at Sakura who also looked surprised. He wanted to have a long battle like his companions but maybe his bite was too strong or the Geodude was too weak.

"Wow, you're amazing Tyrunt!" Sakura praised the dinosaur Pokémon who surprised her. She didn't expect his bite to be so strong and this only proved that her plan for his training was right.

"Wicked!" Eevee told Tyrunt with a grin, "Your bite is stronger than mine."

"Great work, buddy." Macho praised Tyrunt with a tap.

"It was nothing." Tyrant roared with delight.

"Alright guys, we'll continue our training starting from Eevee again," Sakura announced, earning joyous cries from her Pokémon. She was surprised and happy with their eagerness to train. They continued their training in the mines in a similar fashion, unaware of being followed.

After dispatching several wild Pokémon in the mines, she already had a good grip on her Pokémon's strengths and weaknesses. She took a risk and delved deeper into the mines, but something was telling her to turn back. She listened to her gut and turned around but before she could go any further the ground started to rumble and shake. She turned around quickly, shielding her Pokémon with her body.

BOOM!

A Steelix burst forth from the ground, its rotating snake-like body towering over them. It looked down at them menacingly with red eyes. Sakura knew that her Pokémon wouldn't be able to handle this gargantuan monster at their levels but for her, this was excellent training.

"Eevee, Machop, Tyrunt." She called out their names as she stared at the Steelix as slammed her fists together. "Watch and see what your trainer can do!" She wondered how her power would measure up to Pokémon in this world. She wasn't completely at full strength but this much should be alright.

Steelix rushed toward them with a loud roar which prompted her to move also. She slammed her foot into the ground, channeling chakra into her feet before disappearing from the spot. She sped toward the Steelix with chakra built up in her fist and threw the powerful punch at the steel type. Her fist connected with the steel-type Pokémon and sent it careening towards the wall with a loud crash. When the dust cloud cleared the Steelix was unmoving, clearly knocked out by her punch.

Sakura dusted off her hands with a wry smile. "Well, that was easy," Sakura said as her Pokémon ran up to her noisily.

"Did you see that?!" Machop exclaimed, looking up at Sakura with eyes filled with admiration, he watched her movements closely and hoped he could do something like that too. "I want to be strong like her!"

"I didn't know our trainer was so powerful!" Tyrunt roared as he rubbed up against Sakura's feet. "She protected us from the Steelix."

Even Eevee was ecstatic, but he thought about her words before. His trainer couldn't do anything like this before. Maybe, she was right that she was different peron from another world. Either way, he liked her better than before. "So cool!" Eevee chirped.

She didn't know what her Pokémon were saying but she was happy. "I think that is enough of the mines for today. Right?" She said to them.

"That was very impressive." A voice came from behind her.

She turned around, ready to defend herself if need be but when a handsome man wearing a dark blue suit and blue hat walked out of the shadows with a Lucario behind him she relaxed, not sensing any threat from him but she was still cautious.

"Who are you?" She asked, eyeing him with suspicion.

"The name is Riley, and this is Lucario." He replied with a slight smile. "We're Aura Guardians in training. I followed you, which may sound creepy, but I did it because I sensed your energy while I was in town. That energy isn't quite like my aura." He finished by allowing his aura to coat his body which surprised Sakura.

"You're right it is creepy." She trailed off as she sensed his energy and could immediately tell the difference between his aura and her chakra. "No, what I wield isn't aura but chakra."

"I see." Riley said with intrigue, "I would like to learn a little more if you're willing. It's the first time I sense something like that and I'm curious. In return, I can tell you about auras."

Sakura thought about it and nodded. "Sure, let's leave the mine. I don't think it's a good place to stand around and talk." She said, making him chuckle, as she and her Pokémon started walking ahead of him.

He walked behind her with a smile. 'That was one of the reasons I followed you.' He thought, admiring the way her strands of pink fell on her neck. For the first time in his life, he fell in love at first sight with a girl he didn't know. He could tell she was on a journey to challenge the league. He just must ask her if he could accompany her on her journey so he could explore these new and exciting feelings.
