On New Island, many exercise equipments and a track were stationed. There were a few hoops in the air and a swimming pool for Water types, especially Seadra and Tentacruel even though they can hop on land. Targets were placed and large bowls of fire for using certain Water and Ice type moves to snuff them out.
Ash had his Pokémon run around the track about twenty times, even his Flying types. He had briefly read about a few moves that can cause his Flying Pokemon to get grounded and wanted them to prepare themselves if they ever got grounded.
In the lead was Rapidash, having grown accustomed to running like a second nature. Following behind her was the Tauros herd and the Pikachus. Both Bulbasaurs followed after them, with Squirtles behind them. And the end of the long line was Muk and Krabby, both running to the best of their abilities.
After running, Ash made them breakfast. One of the books Brock had given were tips on making Pokémon food -which is pretty essential, considering Brock wasn't around right now- and, surprisingly to Ash, they enjoyed it. Even Mewtwo, though he ate it like a person.
After breakfast are general warm ups for Ash's Pokémon. Stretching their appendages, so they wouldn't be as sore.
Midday was lunch and some relaxation. This is when Ash would often attend to his Pokémon. Learning from the trainer tips book he got, Ash picked up a few items to attend to his Pokémon. Like scratching between Sandslash's quills, scrubbing down some of his Pokémon, waxing his Vileplume's petals, brushing the fur on some of his Pokémon and etc. This helped strengthen the bonds with his Pokémon.
Afternoon was the process of learning new moves from the catalogs. Ash also wanted cover new moves than that could have an edge against type disadvantages. As much as he wouldn't want to admit, he got lucky a few times when it came to some battles. Not to mention, he has trouble some moves his opponent uses. His straight forward battle style needed to change, some defensive tactics need to taken into consideration.
Evening was dinner and some light training before lights out. Ash had his sleeping bag and usually slept with his Pokémon, who all formed a circle around. Not that he minded, he felt at home with his Pokémon sleeping with him. Of course, Pikachu was sleeping with him with Pikachutwo.
[Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. When Pikachu meet, they'll touch their tails together and exchange electricity through them as a form of greeting.]
Ash scanned over his starter's moves before scanning over his "brother's." The clone Pikachu knew Thunder Shock, Agility, Quick Attack, and Thunderbolt. Mewtwo had informed Ash that the clones only have four moves.
"Alright, time to teach you two some new moves!" Ash stated, "While learning Electric type moves is your speciality, Mewtwo told me about these moves you two could learn to aid in battle." Both Mouse Pokemon nodded before getting their instructions.
"First off, I want you to run with these small weights. This should help with your speed." Professor Oak had called Ash a few days ago and informed of these Pokémon weights used by trainers. It briefly reminded Ash of AJ's training. After running back and forth, the two Electric types started to feel a bit faster. Then Ash began to teach them some type disadvantage moves. His starter's eyes glowed green before a knot of grass formed while the clone burrowed himself underground before coming up with a fist.
[Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokémon. This Pokémon is full of vitality. It constantly flies around its large territory in search of prey.]
[Pidgeot, the Bird Pokémon and the evolved form of Pidgeotto. This Pokémon flies at Mach 2 speed, seeking prey. Its large talons are feared as wicked weapons.]
Ash figured these two would be perfect for training alongside one another. His clone Pidgeot was very agile in the air while his Pidgeotto was slowly working her way up there. Seeing her evolved form pushed the pre-evolved form to do her best. Both practiced through the hoops in the stadium, performing aerial maneuvers.
Pidgeotto flew with a streak of white after her while Pidgeot flew with a yellow aura alongside each other. Pidgeotto began to pour more energy into her Quick Attack to the point which energy covered her, Aerial Ace being a success.
[Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokémon. There is a plant seed on its back right from the day this Pokémon is born. The seed slowly grows larger.]
[Venusaur, the Seed Pokémon and the final evolved form of Bulbasaur. Its plant blooms when it is absorbing solar energy. It stays on the move to seek sunlight.]
Bulbasaur was showing his clone some new moves, the latter only knowing Tackle, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf, and Vine Whip. Bulbasaur taught him Leech Seed and Solar Beam before getting into new moves. Venusaur was less speedy than the two pre-evolved form but he didn't mind. What he lacked in speed, he made up with power and defense. Venusaur worked on learning some Poison type moves with the Bulbasaurs, while teaching them some moves. Ash also helped with his lack of speed, in case they needed to dodge any moves.
Bulbasaur conjured an green ball of energy before firing it at a target as his clone fired two streams of poison at another target. Both attacks hit the target, one exploding while the other dissolved. Both Seed Pokémon shook vines at the other's success. The final evolved form then made his way over and sent a vortex of leaves that hit all of the current targets.
[Charizard, the Flame Pokémon and the final evolved form of Charmander. It spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. It may cause forest fires by blowing flames.]
Both of Ash's Charizards found content in sparing with each other. Ash's natural born seemed to have finally bury the hatchet with the clone. Both Charizards often competed with learning new moves as wanting to 1-up the other. Whether it was lifting weights to improve their strength or flying through hoops for aerial mobility, the two would constantly want to beat the other. It was like a sibling bond had development much to Ash's relief.
Ash's natural born spewed a Flamethrower as the clone fired a kanji shaped fire. Both Fire type moves exploded before the clone flew in with wings covered in steel. The natural born smirked before his claws gained a turquoise color and grew. Dragon Claw meet Steel Wing, both Flame Pokémon fighting back against each other. The stalemate ended and they were pushed back before nodding to each other's attempts.
[Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokémon. When it feels threatened, it draws its limbs inside its shell and sprays water from its mouth.]
[Blatoise, the Shellfish Pokémon and the final evolved form of Squirtle. The rocket cannons on its shell fire jets of water capable of punching holes through thick steel.]
The two Tiny Turtle swam in a race, wanting to best each other like the Charizards. Ash's natural born Squirtle dove underneath the water before being shrouded in a coat of water. The clone looked in awe before trying to shoot him out of the air with Water Gun. Meanwhile, Blastoise fired Hydro Pump after Hydro Pump at the targets, standing still and moving. The Shellfish Pokémon then began to spin and became covered in a sliver aura before colliding into a sandbag that was capable of withstanding Pokémon moves.
[Muk, the Sludge Pokémon. Smells so awful, it can cause fainting. Through degeneration of its nose, it lost its sense of smell.]
[Nidoqueen, the Drill Pokémon and the final evolved form of Nidoran female. Nidoqueen is better at defense than offense. With scales like armor, this Pokémon will shield its children from any kind of attack.]
Having looked up Muk's physiology, Ash had a few ideas of using that to his advantage. Of course, Muk also learned a few new moves over the course. His 'fingers' continued to strike a sandbag before they turned to a dark violet color. The Sludge Pokémon cheered as he learned Poison Jab before working on his accuracy.
Nidoqueen was eager to please. Ash almost sensed her fighting prowess, also sparing some of the other heavy hitters like a Tauros or occasionally one of the Charizards. Due to being a Poiosn type, Ash taught her some great Poiosn type moves which she took to heart. Ground type moves were also great for her, pounding the floor to create cracks that glowed in the ground. Earth Power faded and Nidoqueen took liberty in getting shrouded in a red aura before lifting to weights while using Superpower.
[Vulpix, the Fox Pokémon. As each tail grows, its fur becomes more lustrous. When held, it feels slightly warm.]
[Ninetales, the Fox Pokémon and the evolved form of Vulpix. It is said to live 1,000 years, and each of its tails is loaded with supernatural powers.]
Ash read up on the Vulpix's line. While Ash had only Charizard in the beginning, he was quite thrilled to have another Fire type at his disposal. Scanning his two Pokémon, Vulpix is a male while the Ninetales is a female. This surprised him as he would have thought Vulpix would have been a female like his clone, but he didn't complain about it.
After looking up Ninetales move set, Ash was impressed with the types of moves Vulpix and Ninetales could learn which he was glad to imply into their move sets. Vulpix conjured up a ring of ghostly fires before concentrating to block an incoming Water Gun from Squirtle. Ninetales took a deep breath before glowing red. She then unleashed a orange-red blast of fire at a target.
[Krabby, the River Crab Pokémon. If it senses danger approaching, it cloaks itself with bubbles from its mouth so it will look bigger.]
[Seadra, the Dragon Pokémon and the evolved form of Horsea. Seadra's mouth is slender, but its suction power is strong. In an instant, Seadra can suck in food that's larger than the opening of its mouth.]
[Tentacruel, the Jellyfish Pokémon and the evolved form of Tentacool. Its 80 tentacles can stretch and shrink freely. Tentacruel ensnares prey in a net of spread-out tentacles, delivering venomous stings to its catch.]
In the pool, Ash trained with his more aquatic Pokémon. Given this is his first time with Krabby ever, Ash wanted to see what the little crab could do. Spending a few days at home, Ash discovered that Krabby often fought with Gary's large Krabby. Ketchum noticed how he always felt so little compared to him. Well that was about to change.
Looking up Krabby's move set, the River Crab knew Harden, Stomp, Bubble Beam, and Vice Grip. Ash figured due to his small size, he could easily avoid attacks. But if Krabby evolved, he needed to take a few hits with out dodging. Which is why, Krabby glowed red as he summoned multiple swords that circled around him before his left pincer turned to a metal like sheen.
Seadra and Tentacruel were different. They were mostly known for battling in water, but Ash discovered they could function on land as well, albeit with hopping. Taking out his training tips books, he discovered found a few good moves to teach his Water types moves and a few notes about their physiology. Seadra and Tentacruel fired off two streams of bubble at moving targets. The Dragon Pokémon then fired off purplish flames and a high pressure of water. The Jellyfish Pokémon submerged himself underwater before bursting out with two purple glowing tentacles and constricting a waterproof training bag.
[Psyduck, the Duck Pokémon. As Psyduck gets stressed out, its headache gets progressively worse. It uses intense psychic energy to overwhelm those around it.]
[Golduck, the Duck Pokémon and the evolved form of Psyduck. This Pokémon lives in gently flowing rivers. It paddles through the water with its long limbs, putting its graceful swimming skills on display.]
Ash was not as troubled when it came to Psyduck. In his water type training tips, he read up on Psyduck's evolution line. He got this idea after reading about a Psychic type move called Calm Mind. He was intent on teaching his Psyduck this move to help with headaches, which it was successful. The yellow Duck Pokémon was currently swiping his claws through the air before his eyes glowed blue, signaling his growth in his Psychic abilities.
Golduck, on the other hand, didn't need to learn the move since it was his evolved form. Golduck was swimming laps in the pool before being covered in water coat and shot out. Then coming down, his webbed claws bailed into a fist, gaining an icy coat over it. He punched a training bag and successfully froze over his target. The blue Duck Pokémon quacked with pride at the success.
[Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokémon. It loves to collect shiny things. If it's in a good mood, it might even let its Trainer have a look at its hoard of treasures.]
[Wigglytuff, the Balloon Pokémon and the evolved form of Jigglypuff. It's proud of its fur, which is fine and delicate. In particular, the curl on its forehead has a texture that's perfectly heavenly.]
Ash was proud to know his Meowth wasn't like his DNA donor. The Normal type knew Pay Day, Fury Swipes, Assurance, and Taunt. Scanning the feline Pokémon on any future moves, he discovered that a Meowth on his team was more effective than he gave credit for since he had always dealt with Team Rocket's Meowth. This feline was different, he wanted to impress and train. The Scratch Cat Pokémon's claws kept swiping away before they turned a dark shade.
Upon hearing Wigglytuff is a Fairy type, Ash read about what Fairy types are. And needless to say, he was blown away. Learning that they are both super effective and immune to Dragon type attacks, Ash was grateful he had caught one. Unlike his previous exposure to the Jigglypuff line, Wigglytuff's Sing didn't put him to sleep since it seemed more trained and concentrated. Ash worked on expanding her sound based attacks with Hyper Voice and the Fairy type attack, Disarming Voice.
[Dewgong, the Sea Lion Pokémon and the evolved form of Seel. Its entire body is a snowy white. Unharmed by even intense cold, it swims powerfully in icy waters.]
Ice types were one of the new types Ash had to read about. He had briefly seen one at the Cerulean City Gym and it was a quite appearance. Ash often saw Dewgong swimming around in the pool during relaxation times. She was one of his more affectionate and playful Pokémon always creating ice slides in the pool. Ash figured a way to incorporate those ice moves into her battle style, along with some physical moves she could learn.
[Vaporeon the Bubble Jet Pokémon and an evolved form of Eevee. Its body's cellular structure is similar to the molecular composition of water. It can melt invisibly in water.]
Ash scanned the pool, looking for the Water type Eeveelution. A small Water Gun splashed him in the face, which the trainer just wiped off. Vaporeon had proven to be one of the more mischievous Pokémon Ash recently caught, not that he minded, he loved all his Pokémon regardless of personality-except disobedience-. Back to the present, Vaporeon reappeared out of the water, nuzzling her trainer's leg. Ash just smiled and scratched behind her head fins. His attention turned to the pool and like the Pokédex had mentioned, Vaporeon was untraceable in the water. He would definitely use that in upcoming battles.
[Tauros, the Wild Bull Pokémon. When Tauros begins whipping itself with its tails, it's a warning that the Pokémon is about to charge with astounding speed.]
[Rapidash, the Fire Horse Pokémon and the evolved form of Ponyta. This Pokémon can be seen galloping through fields at speeds of up to 150 mph, its fiery mane fluttering in the wind.]
While they were hoofed Pokémon, Ash knew these Pokémon were more of head-on attacks. With his thirty Tauros, he figured to use only one, preferably the leader, but he also trained his others with the same moves. The Tauros were fast and heavy hitters possibly rivaling Nidoqueen, the three fully evolved Kanto Starters, and Gyarados in terms of strength. The lead Tauros clashed with a boulder, ramming into it nonstop while having a blue glow. The other Tauros watched and copied the Zen Headbutt themselves.
Rapidash's speed made it one of the fastest Pokémon on his team currently. Having ridden one before, Ash knew he had to develop trust with her which he already gained previously from brush her fur. Rapidash obviously ran to her heart's content whether it was learning a new move and celebrating or for relaxation. Right now, Rapidash's horn turn to a lime green colored and elongated itself.
[Vileplume, the Flower Pokémon and the evolved form of Gloom. The larger its petals, the more toxic pollen it contains. Its big head is heavy and hard to hold up.]
Vileplume functioned like the Bulbasaur line but had a different move set. Ash taught her moves that the two lines could share like Energy Ball and Sludge Bomb before separating their training. Vileplume could also learn some healing moves, which Ash thought would be important since he can't heal during battling with potions. The Flower Pokémon glowed green and crafted a turquoise barrier.
[Sandslash, the Mouse Pokémon and the evolved of Sandshrew. It climbs trees by hooking on with its sharp claws. Sandslash shares the berries it gathers, dropping them down to Sandshrew waiting below the tree.]
[Rhyhorn, the Spikes Pokémon. Strong, but not too bright, this Pokémon can shatter even a skyscraper with its charging tackles.]
Ground types fit another bill of types Ash wasn't sure of how to work with. His catalog informed him briefly that Ground and Rock types could often learn moves from either types. Sandslash was like Pikachu, only he battled mostly with his claws. Sandslash had his claws crossed in front of him as they glowed crimson.
Rhyhorn was another head on attacker, which Ash was happy to aid in his defensive capabilities. Ash had often seen Rhyhorn clash with one of the Tauros in attempts of strength contest. It was often a draw, but the wins were mostly Tauros. Rhyhorn, being a bit stubborn, was one to back down and trained hard, learning a few more rush down moves as the Spikes Pokémon rotated his drill and rushed forward at the training bag he targeted.
[Scyther, the Mantis Pokémon. As Scyther fights more and more battles, its scythes become sharper and sharper. With a single slice, Scyther can fell a massive tree.]
[Hitmonlee, the Kicking Pokémon. The legs freely contract and stretch. The stretchy legs allow it to hit a distant foe with a rising kick.]
Bug types were a type Ash had a little experience on considering his first capture was a Bug type, but he didn't have him for long. So Ash had to read up on the Bug types catalog. He already figured that Scythers use physical and not range moves. Hence Scyther's right scythe slashing with a dark glow.
Fighting types were sort of normal for Ash. But instead of using hands for combat mostly, his new fighting type specialized in kicks and speed. His Fighting trainer tips explained some Fighting type Pokémon tend to either mediate or training themselves constantly. Ash figured teaching the Kicking Pokémon some non-Fighting type moves to counter any type disadvantages he came across in battle. Hitomnlee mediated before opening his eyes and leaping to his feet. He launched his left foot forward, glowing white, before smashing a rock. Ash appreciate the fact his Pokémon was doing well in training, but it seemed like he needed a partner to spar...
[Gyarados, the Atrocious Pokémon and the evolved form of Magikarp. It has an extremely aggressive nature. The Hyper Beam it shoots from its mouth totally incinerates all targets.]
While he had very few experiences in Gyarados, Ash's Gyarados wasn't like the others. He was more calm and tame, even though he was new to the team. Ash wasn't sure why this was, but he didn't mind it. Sometimes, he let Gyarados swim in the ocean along with Seadra and Tentacruel. The Atrocious Pokémon worked hard to perfect his moves, even in a surprising turn of events, learn a few moves that would trip up some of his opponents. Gyarados roared before flaring up with a red aura.
Psychic types were a new mix in Ash's line up. Plus these two had never really been caught before. Luckily Professor Oak was able to whip up two descriptions and incorporate them into the regional and national Pokédex. But he need a few more types on Psychic types, so he went to a specialist for some help...
[Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokémon. It usually remains motionless to conserve energy, so that it may unleash its full power in battle.]
[Mew, the New Species Pokémon. It's very intelligent and can use an incredible variety of moves. Many believe that all other Pokémon are descendants of this one.]
Upon hearing Mew's description, Ash immediately wanted to know what moves she had. They consisted of Pound, Reflect Type, Baton Pass, Amnesia, and Ancient Power. The small move set sort of made sense to Ash, legendaries and mythical didn't seem like Pokémon to constantly have to fight, only when it is necessary.
Mewtwo, on the other hand, knew Psychic, Hyper Beam, Recover, Swift, Barrier, Counter, and Shadow Ball. Ash was familiar with the first two, but the other moves were new to him which led to Mewtwo's explanation. Mewtwo then demonstrated each attack before learning other moves at his disposal, at least ones he felt like he could do.
The two months went by and Ash and his Pokémon felt they have improved themselves. Ash even got in on the training, building up muscles and working in his cardio as his Pokémon continued to grow. Some even evolved. Ash worked hard with his Pokémon wanting to be prepared for whatever any trainer threw at them.
He was ready.
