The next day of the Indigo League, Ash had some time before his next match. He and his friends decided to check a few other matches out, scoping out potential competitors. On the Rock Field, they saw a very familiar face.
"Sandslash, use Crush Claw!" yelled a spiky green hair boy in a red vest with a whip.
Sandslash's claws were crimson red and slashed at his opponent. The Crush Claw sent the opposing Gloom back before hopping to her feet.
"Gloom, use Energy Ball!" the opposing trainer said.
"Loom..." the Weed Pokémon muttered before conjured an orb of green energy and fired it towards the Ground type Mouse Pokémon.
"Alright, Sandslash get ready!" his trainer said and the pangolin like Pokémon curled himself into a ball, enduring the hit before rolling forward. Sandslash landed Rollout on the Gloom before taking it out.
"Gloom is unable to battle, Sandslash is the winner! Therefore, AJ is the winner!" the referee delcared.
"Nice work, Sandslash!" AJ cheered as Sandslash raised his claws in celebration.
From the stands, Ash had observed the fight, formulating a battle plan to win in case he would battle AJ again. The last time they battled, he lost to his Sandslash when it was a Sandshrew defeating Pidgeotto in one hit, following up with his Butterfree and Pikachu. But now that he felt more prepared now.
On the Water Field, Gary's battle took place and he was more arrogant than before, his first win going to his head as if his ego wasn't already so big and his cheerleading squad hyping him up as he did.
"Nidoking, go for Sludge Bomb!" Gary commanded.
The male version of the Drill Pokémon generated a glob of poison before hurling it towards the opposing Starmie.
"Into the water, Starmie!" the red trainer said in an attempt to avoid the Poison type move. The Mysterious Pokémon entered the water before the glob struck and took off with its superior swimming skills.
"Get him with Rapid Spin!" Starmie began to spin himself and charged towards Nidoking. The Normal type move struck the Poison type several times before Starmie returned to its element.
"Nidoking, use Thunderbolt on the field!" Gary commanded.
"Starmie, get out of there!" The red trainer shouted in fear of the Electric type attack. Nidoking generated a charge and zapped the water, conducting electric all over the battlefield and electrocuting the Mysterious Pokémon. At the end, the Water/Psychic type floated belly up and a dimmed light on its jewel.
"Starmie is unable to battle, Nidoking is the winner! Therefore, Gary is the winner!" the referee said.
Gary had his arrogant smirk on his face, "Was there any doubt?"
Ash's turn finally came around. He rolled his shoulders, rearing himself ready to go. Across from him was his opponent, a trainer dressed in a green kimono and his hair in a ponytail. Their match was to take place on the Rock Field.
And in the stands, Gary watched this time, interested to see what Pokémon he had, so he could beat him in the future if they ever battled.
"And welcome back to the Rock Field! On the green side, we have the slowly growing League favorite, Ash Ketchum! And on the red side, we have Otoshi, a trainer who strikes hard and fast like a samurai!" the announcer spoke.
The referee began, "This is a three on three battle between these two trainers. The match is over when one side has lost all of their Pokémon and is unable to battle. Trainers, chose your first Pokémon."
"Pinsir!" Otoshi said, sending out the Stag Beetle Pokémon.
"Sir!"
"Wigglytuff," Ash said, sending out his Balloon Pokémon.
"Tuff!"
"Battle begin!" the referee declared.
"Pinsir, start off with Swords Dance!" Otoshi shouted as Pinsir summoned a series of swords before they circled him and increased his Attack power.
"Wigglytuff, Hyper Voice," Ash said, taking action. Wigglytuff took a deep breath before bellowing and sending sound waves that struck the Stag Beetle Pokémon.
"Hang in there, go for X-Scissor!" the samurai like trainer said. Pinsir shook off the sound based attack and rushed forward with his arms crossed in an 'X' fashion.
"Use Dazzling Gleam." Wigglytuff shined with a rainbow like glow before firing a multitude of light. The attack halted the Bug type in his tracks and caused a minor explosion. Pinsir rolled out before catching himself.
"Wow! Folks what you just witnessed is a Fairy type move! It's quite rare to see one in this league!" the announcer informed.
'He's strong, no doubt about it.' Otoshi mentally complimented before verbally taking action, "Stone Edge!" The beetle like Pokémon punched the ground which caused a series of stone spires to erupt in a quick manner.
"Dodge with Bounce," Ash commanded. The Balloon Pokémon leapt in the air, inflating herself as she did and floated above the Rock type attack. "Now descend!" Wigglytuff deflated herself and flew in a quick manner, covered in a light blue aura. She Bounced off Pinsir, who reeled in pain from the attack and landed on one knee.
"Finish with Flamethrower," Ash added. Wigglyuff inhaled then exhaled a torrent of flames that roasted the Bug type to the point of unconsciousness.
"Pinsir is unable to battle. Wigglytuff is the winner!" The crowd went wild as Ash gained the first victory.
"You did great, Pinsir," Otoshi congratulated before pulling out his next Pokeball, "Go Nidorino!" Out came the male Poison Pin Pokémon. "Nido!"
"Wigglytuff, return." Ash returned his Normal/Fairy type as he knew he was at a disadvantage. So he had another Pokémon to deal with the Poison type.
"Psyduck." Ash sent out his pre-evolved form of Duck Pokémon. "Psy..."
"Well, would you look at this!" the announcer made known, "Ketchum is using a Psyduck of all his things! What could he be thinking?"
In the stands, Misty was baffled at this, "Psyduck?! But he... I mean!..."
Brock calmed her down, "Relax, Misty. Ash said he trained all his Pokemon. Maybe Psyduck has a few tricks up its sleeves." Misty registered what Brock said, true Ash had trained his Pokémon and maybe he would win this one. But with Psyduck, she doubt that. After all, it was a clone of the original.
Gary just smirked, "Seems Ashy-Boy didn't evolve all of his Pokémon. I can take down that duck without breaking a sweat."
Back on the Rock Field, Ash went first, "Psyduck, start with Calm Mind." Psyduck closed his his eyes and pictured a soothing drop of water to help with his Psychic powers.
"While you are doing that, Nidorino Horn Attack!" Otoshi said and the male Poison Pin Pokémon rushed with a white glowing horn.
"Water Pulse." Psyduck opened his eyes and conjured a sphere of water before firing it. The Water Sphere struck the incoming Poison type, shaking it off and continue his sprint. Getting closer, Nidorino began to feel dizzy and veered off course. He hit a rock on the battlefield and hit himself repeatedly.
"Look at this! Seems Water Pulse managed confuse Nidorino," recognized the announcer.
"Nidorino, snap out of it!" Otoshi pleaded but the rabbit like Pokémon merely continued in his confused state.
"Psyduck, Zen Headbutt." The Duck Pokémon glowed blue and launched forward, nailing the male Poison Point Pokémon. The impact knocked Nidorino back but not out as he rose to his feet.
"Now, Hydro Pump." Psyduck took a deep breath before exhaling gushing water, again hitting Nidorino.
"Nidorino, use Thunderbolt!" Otoshi called, hoping there would be no confusion. He was relieved when he saw Nidorino charge himself before firing a yellow bolt of lightning.
"Restrict it with Psychic!" Ash shouted quickly, knowing an Electric move would do massive damage. Psyduck's eyes glowed blue and caught the Thunderbolt in its tracks.
"Now send in back!" The Duck Pokémon redirected the bolt and sent it towards the male Poison Point Pokémon. Otoshi was too stunned at the fact that a mere duck took the Electric type move with such ease and threw it at him. The Thunderbolt hit Nidorino, knocking him out of the fight.
"Nidorino is unable to battle, Psyduck is the winner!"
In the stands, two people were blown away.
"Uhhh...," Brock waved his hand in front of his friend's face, wondering why she was stunned, "Misty?"
Misty, for one, never expected to see a Psyduck ever battle like that. Her Psyduck was about as troublesome as Ash's Charizard (to her knowledge), but seeing Ash's Psyduck made her ponder how to train it.
Gary, on the other hand, couldn't believe what Ash's Pokémon managed to do. Granted he had seen the previous battle with Wiggytuff. She did very well, of course she is fully evolved, so she expected nothing less. But Ash had used an unevolved Pokémon with such ease. Gary had to give credit with that.
"And once again, Ash has managed to defeat his opponent with two Pokémon without taking any damage! Will he have a three streak again?" the announcer questioned.
Otoshi returned his fallen Pokémon before reaching for his last, "It's up to you. Go, Marowak!" Out came Otoshi's ace, spinning his bone in a threatening manner. "Maro!"
"Psyduck, return," Ash took out his Pokeball and returned his Pokémon before getting his last Pokémon, "Hitmonlee." The Kicking Pokémon appeared and got into a kick boxing stance, ready for action. "Monlee!"
"And Ash's final Pokémon is Hitmonlee! With all three, can Marowak win?"
"He can and will! Marowak, start with Focus Energy!" Otoshi commanded. The Bone Keeper concentrated and gained a yellow aura, boosting his strength.
"Hitmonlee, Mediate," Ash said. The Kicking Pokémon closed his eyes and glowed with a faint white aura.
"Marowak, go for Rock Slide," Otoshi followed and the skull wearing Pokémon glowed with a sliver aura before raining boulders down onto the kicking specialist Pokémon.
"Dodge it," Ketchum said. Hitmonlee jumped out of the way off the Rock Slide, evading each boulder with speed and agility.
Ash smiled as he remembered training his Fighting type with these skills. He remembers reading about Hitmonlee's extendable legs and witness it in mock battles on New Island. Hitmonlee excelled in kicking rather than punches, but that didn't mean Ash took liberty in learning a few other moves that typically use fists.
"Use Rock Smash." Hitmonlee's left leg turned to an orange color and was launched towards the Bone Keeper Pokémon. The Fighting move struck the Ground type and knocked him back.
"Marowak!" the kimono wearing trainer called out. The skull wearing Pokémon got to his feet and growled at his opponent. "Bone Club!" Marowak charged forward with his bone raised high and ready to strike.
"Mega Kick when it gets close." The moment Marowak was about to bash him with his bone, Hitmonlee swung a glowing white foot into the side of the Ground type.
"Now, Rolling Kick." The Kicking Pokémon extended his leg and shot it forward. The Bone Keeper Pokémon began to spin as the Rolling Kick sent him flying into the air.
"Time to wrap this up," Ash said, "Use High Jump Kick." Hitmonlee nodded and leapt into the air. Rising above Marowak, the Fighting type began to descend, knee first and struck the Ground type. The knee strike sent the Bone Keeper Pokémon towards the ground, creating a crater that kicked up dust. Just as Hitmonlee landed, the dust cleared and revealed Marowak with swirls in his eyes.
"Marowak is unable to battle, Hitmonlee is the winner! Therefore the winner of this match is Ash!"
The crowd went wild at the mention of the victor. Hitmonlee folded his arms, satisfied with the fight while Ash soaked up the celebration.
He couldn't describe it but he felt Hitmonlee's emotion. Having spent the last two months training and bonding with all his Pokémon, it was a normal sensation to him now. Hitmonlee liked a good fight and his sparring partner agreed with him. Now that the Kicking Pokémon had an official battle under his belt, he enjoyed it and everything that came with.
"Great job out there, Hitmonlee!" Ash praised his Fighting type, who pumped a fist in the air. "Lee!"
On the Ice Field, one trainer that made our hero's blood boil was battling.
"Victreebel, destroy that oversized tongue Pokémon!"
The Flycatcher Pokémon's vine turned purple before lashing it out. The Power Whip smacked the opposing Lickitung's tongue so hard, she began to cringe in pain from the attack on her tongue. The Grass/Poison type didn't stop there as he unleashed a flurry of leaves that swarmed the Normal type. The Licking Pokémon was shredded from the Leaf Storm before it let up, only to reveal the victim unconscious.
"Lickitung is unable to battle, Victreebel is the winner! The winner of the match is Damian!"
Damian flicked his blue hair with a cocky grin before returning his Pokémon and left the green trainer to their knees at the defeat of their Pokémon.
Night came and our heroes went to their respective beds in Pokémon Village to rest for the day.
Ash was glad how is matches were currently going. He applauded his Pokémon strength and was glad he scoped out a few trainers he might come across and battle. With that thought in mind, Ketchum dozed off to sleep.
A/N: Just to clarify, Ash does not know that Damian is in the league.
Ultimate Peter: In regards to your idea of an harem: no. Ash will not have a harem. But as for your other questions, yes.
Reader: Yes, Neesha, Corey, and Fergus are competing in the league. No, he will not trade his Tauros. As for captures, wait and see. But definitely no for Kleavor right now. Well seeing as Ash was training for two months, I would say yes that Misty and Brock have also trained due to them doing gym battles. Although, Vulpix is not his in the anime, it belongs to Suzie and not Onix yet. Hopefully, this battle satisfies you with the inclusion of Otoshi ;).
