Chapter 2: Sea Life
It has been 6 months. Since Inko, Izuku, Ochako and Nejire were turned into mermaids. And a lot had happened during that time.
First off, the pro heroes and the police were having little luck on finding Inko, Izuku, Nejire and Ochako. Though for the Hado and Uraraka's it was torture for them. Not knowing, where they're daughters were. While Mitsuki was stunned to hear about Inko and Izuku disappearing at the beach. As for Katsuki, well it ended with him being yelled at.
While things were not working out on land. As for Inko, Izuku, Nejire and Ochako on the other hand, a lot has happened to them. Since they had become mermaids.
First off, Inko had settled into her new role, as queen of the entire Pacific Ocean, pretty well. And was splitting her duties as a mother and queen, evenly. Even going as far as to adopt Ochako and Nejire, as her daughters until she could get them home.
Izuku on the other hand. Was given a new name, Izuna. Along with adapting to her new position, as princess of the Pacific Ocean. Thankfully she was seeing Luche for any problems, while adapting to her new body. Which were surprisingly few. And the only problem was just coming to terms, that she was a girl now.
As for Ochako and Nejire. It was a little bit of a rough going for them, at first. When they became worried, that they may not see their parents again. But they were calmed down by Luche and Inko. Mainly Luche, when she told the 4 of them that they can change between their human and mermaid forms. And Inko took the 2 into her family for the time being. Though the biggest benefit happened, when Inko noticed the 2 of them were helping her daughter adjust to being a girl.
Another thing Inko also noticed, that over time the 3 of them were becoming quite close. That she had to call Amelia and Luche to the throne room for a private meeting, to talk about what was going on with them. When Inko had explained her concern to Luche and Amelia. The 2 could only just laugh at Inko's question. Causing Inko to gain a confused look. Before they started explaining, that some mers are instinctively drawn to each other. Before they added, why some merfolk wind up with accidental harem. But after the 2 looked at the 3 of them. Before they added, that the 3 kids seemed to be attracted to each other evenly. Which meant that Inko may be receive many grandkids in the future, from the 3 or more. Which caused Inko to start thinking up ways for her to spoil her grandkids. Though it will be determined, if any more will be joining. Which broke Inko out of her dream of spoiling her grandkids. With the thought that there's a possibility that her daughter and the other 2 might be having more than one lover in the future. But only time will tell how it will play out.
Inko was given the room that they had stayed in for their first night as mermaids. While Izuna, Ochako, and Nejire had gotten their own room to share. Each of them had received a clamshell bed of their own, in their tail colors.
Along with a wardrobe full of all sorts of bras for them to wear. Even though all 4 of them received different mermaid bras that match their tails, that also went from light to dark in colors that match their tails. When they didn't need to wear the gowns, they had gotten, when their transformation into mermaids had finished.
They also learned some things about their new biology. Such as the fact, merfolk can live for a few centuries. Meaning, that Inko could hold the throne for a century. Before handing it to Izuna.
Along with Inko being given the run down on the laws. That were already in effect and what else was needed for her to start or during her current reign as queen.
One of the benefits, that also came with being a mermaid, was that they could regain their legs. And only when they were in deep enough water. Would they change back into their mermaid form. So, something as simple as a puddle of water wouldn't be enough to trigger the transformation. Which they learned, when Inko asked if it was possible for them to take a bath. Where they found out, that the castle had airtight chambers/ Which were used by merfolk to get used to walking with legs or to take baths.
Though Inko did get a shock. When she woke up one morning with a boy's equipment, instead of a girls, one day. While still looking like a girl herself. When she asked Luche about it. All that she got out of Luche, was her rolling her eyes. And saying that it was normal for mermaids to go through this and that it was temporary. Along with the control needed to control the process. Since they were like some species of fish and amphibians and only let them change equipment needed to have kids. Which allowed mermaids to get other mermaids pregnant, without a merman needing to be present. Though the only way for a mermaid to have a merman child. Was that a merman was needed to get the mermaid pregnant. And since they were a mainly a female species to begin with, and why mermen were so few and far between. Though the example Luche used was her using a clownfish. Which hatched as a male species. but over time some of the males would turn into females. So, that they can reproduce.
Now we currently find ourselves in the throne room, with Inko sitting on her clamshell throne. Talking with a mermaid and merman couple. Who were the married leaders of one of the colonies from around Hawaii. When they hear the sound of something crashing and breaking. Followed by the sound of yelling.
"Um, Inko? What's going on?" Asked the mermaid, wondering what was happening.
"Nejire. Must have gotten caught, trying to take cookies from the cookie jar, again." Said Inko, having heard the crash and the voices. Which she could only sigh and shake her head. "I'm so sorry that this is happening, right now, Lilo."
"Don't worry about it, Inko. I used to take cookies too." Said Lilo, reassuring Inko.
"And she still does it too." Said Lilo's husband, which Lilo shot him a look. "It's true, and you know it." Which Lilo could only sigh and nod her head in defeat, as she turned her head back to Inko.
Meanwhile, we currently find Nejire swimming away from the maid that was chasing her. And she had also once again dragged Izuna and Ochako into 1 of her cookie raids again. Which Ochako and Izuna had a look on their faces, that said "how did we get dragged into this mess, again?" Who had gotten used to Nejire's antics. When it came to Nejire taking cookies from the cookie jar.
"YOUNG LADIES! GET BACK HERE, THIS MINUTE!" Said the same maid, who usually got dragged into Nejire's antics. As she continued to chase them through out the castle. Until they hid inside one of the giant clamshells and closed the top. Which the maid didn't see them swim into one of the giant clamshells and close the lid, as she continued swimming in the same direction. That she had thought, they had gone.
Once Nejire thought that the coast was clear. She cracked open the lid of the shell to make sure the coast was clear. Before she gave Ochako and Izuna, each a cookie. That she had taken once again, taken from the cookie jar.
Just as she bit into the cookie. They heard a knock on the shell. Which caused her to open the clamshell. Only to see Amelia floating there "Taking cookies from the cookie jar again, Nejire?" she asked, raising an eyebrow and had a smile on her face, that said she wasn't surprised by this happening.
"Morning, Amelia. How are you today? Asked Izuna, as she poked her head out from under the shell.
"Doing well, princess. I was just on my way to see your mother. To pass along a few messages, from one of Japan's merfolk colony leaders. Is coming here on vacation, with her family. When I heard yelling, before I noticed the maid, that was usually involved with Nejire's antics, swim by. Looking for you 3." Said Amelia, then she gestured to the closed shell. "Then I noticed the closed shell. Which made it safe to assume that you 3 were hiding from her." Which got a nod from the 3 of them. "Well either way, you 3 need to get your studies. Now come along." After getting a nod, from the 3. Went with them to make sure the 3 made it to their classes.
After making sure that Izuna, Ochako and Nejire got to their classes. Amelia had arrived outside the throne room and she had arrived just in time to see Lilo and her husband swimming out of the throne room. As they waited patiently, for them to finish swimming by before they swam inside the throne room.
"Morning, Amelia. Is there something you need." Said Inko, noticing Amelia. After she had swam into the throne room.
"I'm just passing along a few messages milady." Said Amelia, as she floated in front of Inko. "First off, the Kamaya family. Who are in charge of Japan's south east colony, are coming here for a family vacation and to talk to you about somethings."
"Is there anything else, I can know about the Kamaya family?" Asked Inko, since she wasn't familiar with the name.
"Of course, You're majesty." Said Amelia, as she bowed. "All that I can say is that her granddaughter Nerumi. Is that she's currently a Pro Hero in Japan. Why?" Causing Ochako and Nejire to gain a spark of hope in their eyes.
"I was thinking. Is it possible to pass along a message from me to her granddaughter? That I could meet with her granddaughter and talk with her about something?" Inko asked, wondering if it was possible for the colony's granddaughter to get a message out to Ochako and Nejire's parents.
"Of course. I'll make sure to pass along the message to her grandmother. To make sure that she knows to come see me for a private meeting." Said Amelia, as bowed to Inko and turned to leave. So that she could write and send the message out. Before she turned back to Inko to ask a quick question. "Is the reason that you want to meet with her. Does this have to deal with the 4 of you. Disappearing and going missing in Japan?" Which she got a nod from Inko. "Then I'll make to send the message out post haste." As Amelia quickly swam out of the room, to get the stuff needed to write the letter, so that she could write down Inko's message and send it out A.S.A.P.
"If this works out and with Nerumi's help. We can come up with something. What will maybe help Ochako and Nejire be able to make contact with their parents. Or maybe we can come up with something to help them." Thought Inko, as she thought about Ochako and Nejire's situation. Then she thought of the situation that Ochako and Nejire's parents are in. Possibly worried about their daughters. Then a thought hit her, which made her think about it even more. About how much of a positive influence the 2 had been on her new daughter. Which made her want to ask if they were willing to become merfolk. So that they can visit their daughters whenever they like. Or they could work something out so that they visit each other. If their parents want them to go home with them. "Now, I wonder. What Izuna, Ochako, and Nejire are being taught today?" She thought, as leaned back a bit, on her clamshell throne. Taking her mind off, their current situation.
Meanwhile in the room. Where Izuna, Ochako and Nejire were sitting on some giant shells that were in the room. While a mermaid was going over merfolk biology. With Izuna taking notes like a mad dog. When Izuna brought up a question, about why merfolk tails were different colors. Along with their swimming fin being different from one another. Since she remembered that her mom and her shared the same tail color and fin. While Ochako and Nejire's were different colors and their fins were different as well.
Which the mermaid was kind enough to explain. A small bit about genetics. Such a genetic diversity and recessive genetic traits. Before saying that she'll go over this some more in the future. When it was needed for them to learn some more on it.
"Oh well." Said Inko, as she sat there thinking and shrugged her shoulders. "I'm sure. They'll tell me over lunch or dinner." As she began to ponder, how to tell Ochako and Nejire. That there was a chance for them to see their parents again. "I might as well tell them. No, use keeping it a secret, until the last minute." She thought to herself, as she considered her options.
Eventually Amelia returned, with the stuff needed to write down the message. So that they can begin writing the letter to let the Kamaya family. Know that Inko was requesting a private meeting with their daughter/granddaughter.
When dinner time did eventually come around. We currently find the 4 sitting down to dinner.
"So, what did you learn today?" Asked Inko, from where she was sitting.
"We learned about merfolk biology today." Said Izuna, from where she was sitting. "Or at least the basics of it."
"That does sound interesting." Said Inko, as she looked at Izuna.
"It was until. Izuna asked a question, about why our tail colors are different colors. Along with our fins as well." Said Ochako, as she giggled at Izuna's curiosity and note taking. "Then we got a small run down on genetic diversity. Then the mermaid said that she would continue. When we were older." Getting a nod from Inko.
"So, mom. Did anything happen on your end?" Asked Izuna, from where she sat. Curious about how her mom's day went.
"The same as usual for being queen of the Pacific Ocean." Said Inko, answering her daughter's question. "Though I did learn. That is one of the families that manage 1 of Japan's merfolk colonies. Does have a pro hero in the family. That is currently active in Japan. Which I requested her presence for a meeting, to about her getting in contact, with Ochako and Nejire's parents." Causing Ochako to gain a spark of hope. Though for Nejire it was having mixed results. While she was happy, that there was a chance of her being able to see her parents again. Another side of her, didn't want to go back to school, due to the students leaving her out of things. Due to her Quirk. Though Nejire's look went unnoticed.
This look in the eyes of Ochako and Nejire continued until it was time for them to go to sleep. Where they couldn't hold it anymore.
"I'm so excited, that there's a possibility of us seeing our parents again." Said Ochako, excitedly from her bed. Until she noticed the downcast look on Nejire's face. "Um, is something wrong Nejire?" Ochako added, slightly concerned.
"The truth is Ochako. I want to see my parents again." Said Nejire, as Ochako and Izuku gained a look of concern on their faces. "But I don't want to go back to school. Due to them treating me like I didn't exist."
"Sounds like they were either making you an outcast or they were alienating you. Due to your Quirk." Said Inko, as she swam in the room. While Nejire nodded her head, acknowledging Inko on what had been happening to her.
"Mom. When did you come in here?" Asked Izuna, from her bed. Surprised to see her mom in the room.
"Well, I was coming in to talk to Ochako and Nejire, about somethings. When I overheard Nejire's conversation about how school was for her." Said Inko, before she went to Ochako. "Is it like this for you Ochako?"
"Um." Said Ochako, as she was unsure how to put it. "It's more of a money problem." Causing the other 3 to look at her. "The reason we were able to go to the beach, the day we became mermaids. Was due to my parents. Being able to save up enough for us to at least spend the day at the beach." Causing everyone in the room to be surprised by this.
"Well, I guess, it's my turn to reveal a secret." Said Izuna, as they turned to look at her. As Inko gained a look of concern. While Ochako and Nejire became curious about Izuna. "The truth is that I'm Quirkless and I've been bullied. And when my mom found out, she started blaming herself. Even my own friends turned their backs on me. Because I didn't have a Quirk." As Izuna lowered her head, which in turn caused her to raise it. "But, I'm glad to be friends, with you too." With some tears in her eyes.
"Us too, Izuna." Said Ochako and Nejire, as they swam over and gave her a hug. As Inko could only smile at the 3 of them.
"Maybe, when we meet up with Ochako and Nejire's parents. Perhaps I should ask them, if it's possible for them to continue living with us. Here at the castle, since the 3 of them seem to be having a positive effect on each other. Along with asking them, if they want to become merfolk. So, that they can continue visiting them." Thought Inko, as smiled at the 3 them. Who were smiling, while hugging each other. While they comforted and assured each other at the same time. "Because something is telling me, that it would be a bad thing separate them, from each other."
"Mom. Is something bothering you?" Asked Izuna, as she separated from Nejire. After they had finished their group hug.
"Sorry, sweetie. It's just that after the past year. Along with the 4 of us becoming mermaids. Then hearing what's been happening to Nejire." Said Inko, as she sat down on one of the beds. While Izuna, Ochako and Nejire gained a down look on their faces. "But, seeing the faces of you 3 hugging right now. Is making me want to keep you 3 together. Since it benefits 3 of you emotionally." With a sigh Inko continued. "So, I'm planning on meeting with the mermaid. Who's a pro hero, to help me get in contact with your parents. So, we can meet up and talk things over." As she noticed, she now had Ochako and Nejire's attention. "While also extending an invitation to them so that they can be merfolk. So, that they can come and visit you, at any time, they wish."
Then Inko found herself on the floor, being hugged by Izuna, Ochako, and Nejire. Saying thank you, over and over again. Followed by Inko returning the hug. Eventually Inko was able to get the 3 girls off of her and tucked into bed for the night. Before she decided to go to bed herself. As she got into bed. Inko could only think about whether or not the future will work out for them.
