Web of Kumo-chan
Hi, readers!
I wanted to submit a story concept and see what kind of interest it would get among all you Spider-Verse fans. The story is called "Web of Kumo-chan". It's a story built around my magical girl Spider-Man OC, Kumo-chan, who was created back in 2020; my husband had picked up the newest Spider-Verse TPB(trade paperback) "Spider-Zero" comic and after each issue they featured fan-made Spider-Verse OCs - AKA Spidersonas. He suggested I design my own and base her on Sailor Moon - his idea was to basically draw Sailor Moon and add Spider-Man elements, but I couldn't do that - I needed to be more creative, and thus Kumo-chan was born. Now, as much as I'd love to see her become one of Marvel's next "Spider-verse" icons, I know that it's highly unlikely to happen. However, Kumo-chan is my baby and I want to share her everywhere I possibly can. Over the last 2 years, I have been trying to get all my ideas for her and her universe written out as I'm able; even after all this time I still don't have all of the story's details figured out... Either way, please let me know what you think of what I have so far!
1) The Marvel multiverse this story takes place in is referred to as M-6127. The name is a play on the term "Magical Girl"; Magical is shortened down to M, and Girl is
represented by the numbers 6127 – 6 represents the G, 1 represents both the I and the line for the R, 2 is the 'bump and line' for the R, and 7 is meant to be an
upside-down L. Everything in this universe parodies the anime/manga magical girl genre, but primarily focuses on parodying Sailor Moon; it's full of clichés and
jokes.
2) In a distant galaxy, the planet Arachnia was facing destruction by the Goblin Corps. The Goblin Corps was led by the Goblin Queen and her 3 Goblin generals -
Monster, Hobgoblin, and Green Goblin. Arachnia's magical guardian – who is the physical embodiment of the planet and its magical energy – was the only one left to
battle them. Before succumbing to her injuries, Lady Arachnia ordered Aria to take her magical bracelet and find the girl who would replace her as a magical
guardian; the destined female would be found on Earth – it is said that she would be just as strong, if not stronger, than her predecessor.
3) Mayu Aiuchi is your usual 16-year-old Japanese-American girl; she is also a walking cliché – she enjoys playing roleplay games imported from Japan, she loves
reading manga(English AND Japanese), watching anime(subbed or dubbed depending on if she's lazy), she enjoys singing along to J-Pop(including anime
opening/ending theme songs), she loves eating pizza and hot dogs from street vendors, her favorite hangout place is called Cafe Otohime(basically this multiverse's
version of Starbucks), and she will be caught watching American films/TV series every so often, especially when it's based on comic books. She lives in Little Tokyo,
NY with her father and mother, Kenji and Olivia, as well as her baby sister, Mia. She's currently enrolled at the Indi-Gardenia private academy; like every student,
Mayu has classes she excels in, classes she is mediocre in, and classes she could improve in. One day, she saw a strange spider being attacked by a gremlin that
oddly resembled Jaken from Inuyasha; she threw a rock at the garbage bin behind him and grabbed the wounded spider as soon as the creature had fled out of fear.
Mayu picked up the injured arachnid and brought her home. Things changed for Mayu that day.
4) Mayu has a best friend named Elizabeth Parker. Elizabeth is the younger twin sister to her brother, Benjamin, who happens to be Mayu's secret crush. Elizabeth and
Ben were both going to start grade 10 when Mayu moved to New York. Elizabeth runs the Kumo-chan fan blog "KCB" – AKA 'Kumo-chan Blog' – after sightings of
the famed magical Spider-Girl began; she's her biggest fan, but she doesn't know her best friend is the magical web-slinger.
4A)Ben's best friend is named Norman Osborn. Norman left high school and began online learning after he became CEO of Os Corp when his father became
terminally ill.
5) During her final battle with Green Goblin, she was saved by a mysterious figure referring to himself as Doku. Doku is this multiverse's Venom and is meant to
parody Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. Doku, in design, is very tall and built "like a monster" (Kumo-chan's words). He seemed to be bipolar, almost like Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde; he was ruthless and relentless when he sent Green Goblin the finishing blow but came off as sweet and concerned towards Kumo-chan when the
battle had ended. After swearing to help Kumo-chan in her battle with the Goblin Corps, it became apparent to Doku that he had established a powerful bond with
her – like when one creature "imprints" on another – and needed to protect her at all costs.
5A) In the summer, before Mayu started at Indi-Gardenia, Ben was working at Os Corp, as an intern, in the lab. One night, Ben was last to leave so Norman asked
him to do a quick security check before the overnight security guard started his shift. As he walked about, Ben wound up in an area he was unfamiliar with; Ben
became anxious after stumbling into a room, which had locked behind him. There was a black liquid-like mass that slithered towards Ben and wrapped itself
around him. Before he knew it, the slime had disappeared, and everything seemed as though it went back to normal. Being freaked out by the whole ordeal, Ben
quickly grabbed his things from his locker and left – thankfully the overnight security officer was walking through the door as Ben ran out. As Ben slept, he had a
strange dream of sharing a conversation with the black goo, who disclosed that his name was Venom and that he was a king from a foreign planet in a different
galaxy; he had explained that his planet had been attacked by the Goblin Corps, however, was scared off by him. He wanted revenge against the Goblin Corps for
causing issues on his planet, including the near annihilation of his species, so he ventured to Earth to battle them once more. He told Ben that he needed to use
his body because his physical form is affected by the Earth's strange environment, hence why he took on the appearance of a liquid-like material. Slowly, Venom
and Ben established a relationship, and presented as the massive creature named Doku, as to hide both Ben and Venom's true identities.
