(Part 2)

The long, white-bearded priest, in his white ceremonial garb (clothing), prayed and prayed,

along with his grand-daughter and a few other temple priestesses in their high mountain village.

Not very long, as these things often go... There was an 'answer' to their meditations... for 'Help!'.

#

The sky overhead grew a near, sudden gigantic cumulus cloud. A thunderhead right after that... and then:

the Heavens overhead cracked with a peal of tremendous thunder... lightning. The thunderbolts were purple.

And out of the center of a bright, purple-bluish vortex... She came! The ancient Snow Dragon. A Goddess in fact!

She spread her wings and looked down on the faithful villagers down below. Her 'Believers'... Her people? Yes.

For the ancestral story was that a long-past Queen of the Mountain Anu people here, had passed away after

a fortuitous and kindly reign... and had been transformed into a giant, white dragon. The Snow Dragon...

#

"Oh, Snow Dragon and Protector... Please keep these new monsters at bay... Save your people. We beseech thee!"

The Snow Dragon looked down the mountain slopes and saw Godzilla and, in the air, circling the next mountain top,

Rodan. She did not hesitate, but immediately began to fly around the village in first smaller, then much larger circles...

#

Godzilla saw her right away. He stopped his slow ascent. He did not remember seeing this great, white dragon before.

He only could recall the golden, 3-headed dragon from space... Ghidorah! No, he wanted no quarrel with some creature

he had never ever met before. He raised his arms, and in a fashion, did wave and smile (if a monster can indeed smile).

And what do you know... It worked! The great Snow Dragon... She waved one wing and gave a dragon smile back!

Godzilla then turned around and left the immediate area. He tried to recall why he was chasing Rodan - but forgot.

#

Now, Snow Dragon turned Her attention onto the flying monster, Rodan. She called out, in a sing-song-y voice.

A sweet and kindly voice... Not too much different from the voice of Mothra. In fact, she long ago had met Mothra

and given some voice lessons to that other flying creature, and more of a kindly beast than a menacing monster? Yes.

#

Rodan, who was also flying in a large circling pattern, but over an adjacent mountain top, heard the lovely, piercing voice.

Somehow, that voice suddenly calmed him down... The old saying really is true... Music calms the savage beasts? Certainly.

The longer he listened to Her voice, of this Snow Dragon he never had seen before, he lost his fight-or-flight mode, or 'feeling'.

He then called to Her in the calmest sound that he knew how to make. And She responded. They called to each other, not quite

a Love Song... But a call of new and sudden, warm Friendship. They did in fact understand each other (Monster 'Talking'? Oh, yes...)

#

Seeing that Godzilla had already left the area of these mountains, headed back to the deep oceans off Japan, Rodan really calmed.

He called a soft "Good-Bye!" and "Hope we meet... Again!" to the ancient Snow Dragon Queen. And she replied: "Yes. Be well, Friend!"

The Snow Dragon circled the village several more times, as Rodan flew off and away opposite to the direction that Godzilla had taken...

She saw that Her People were now safe... She called down to them a 'So Long... Be Well, My Children' in Her gentle voice, and left.

She went back into the thundercloud and bluish-purple vortex she had come from... And then the vortex had closed. She was

gone... Until she was needed ever again. The High Priest of the village and all his people then rejoiced. And they celebrated.

Sake was poured... and an offering laid at the shrine of the Snow Dragon. Their Kind Protector. Their Ancestral Queen!
