Kaye and I arrived at the Dynasty. We walked inside and did a quick glance around the place. Most of the new fighters were busy with their drills. Cale and Sekhmet were in a tangle with one another and Kayura up on the second floor on the phone from her office. I leaned in close to her, "I don't see Anubis. Do you?"
"No, I don't," Kaye replied in a hushed tone.
Cale and Sekhmet stopped their sparring and walked to the ropes. "So you did decide to have the skirt come with you this time. Maybe you'll be able to concentrate better during your training."
I narrowed my eyes at him, "Shut it Cale. Unless you want me to give you a second beat down."
Cale smirked as he chuckled, "Whatever. Hurry up and get changed so we can staet your training. It isn't like you don't need it."
Kayura came out of her office and walked to the railing. She studied the scene below, "Cale, Sekhmet, you two get back to your match." Kayura looked over towards me and Kaye with a raised brow. "Kento, either go and change or turn around and leave. I don't have time for fighters coming in here and standing around gawking. So don't waste my time."
I looked up towards her, "Right, I was about to go and change." I turned my attention towards Kaye. "I'll be out soon, you'll be alright when I'm gone?"
Kaye looked at me, "I'll be fine. Go before we get kicked out."
I nodded and then was on my way to the locker room when I heard Kayura inviting Kaye up to her office. I glanced back and saw her going up the stairs. I frowned, why did Kayura want Kaye up there? I'll have to ask her later. I entered the locker room and then came back out a little over five minutes later. I made my way to the ring and did my warm ups. Then when I was done both of them approached me.
"Today Cale and I are going to test your endurance. The two of us are going to tag team one another and you have to keep going until we end the match." Sekhmet stated as he and Cale got into position.
I walked to the other side of the ring and set up my corner. Once done, I turned around and faced them. "So do you two do this for all the new fighters, or am I a special occassion?"
Sekhmet made his way to the center of the ring, "Does it matter?"
I shrugged as I met up with him, "I guess not, so let's do this." The two of us squared off and the tangle began.
Kayura opened the door for Kaye. "Come on in and take a seat."
Kaye entered and sat in a chair in front of Kayura's desk. She sat back a little but kept her eyes on the fight club owner.
"First, I would like to apologize to you for how I came off in your office when we first met. I was under duress and I should have been more civil." Kayura apologized as she offered Kaye a drink.
"Thank you but I'm good. I think I can understand where you're coming from when you came to us." Kaye replied as she continued to study her.
"So, how is the case coming along?" Kayura inquired as she poured herself a glass. "Any leads?"
Kaye made herself a little more comfortable. "THe case is coming along fine. We have a few leads which have panned out so far. There are a few things we're still trying to figure out, but don't worry, we'll find out who attacked Dais. As well as who would have a vendetta against your fight club. Do you or your other fighters have any enemies. People who would want the Dynasty to close? Have there been any other threats or attacks since Dais?"
Kayura picked up her glass and swirled it a bit before she took a drink. She raised a brow at Kaye. "You get right to the point with your questions."
Kaye shrugged, "I found it's the best way to get the answers we're looking for. Instead of beating around the bush, getting straight to the point is helpful in most situations. Cuts on time too. Helps the case get solved quicker."
Kayura took another drink as she set the glass down and ran her finger around the edge of it. "I'm curious. Why did you choose to work as his partner? Why didn't you stay as a singer at the Torrent?"
Kaye didn't flinch at her questions, she kept her resolve. "You're avoiding my questions. Why? Is there something else you're not telling me? How do you know what I use to do?"
Kayura leaned back in her chair, "I'm not hiding anything. I'm striking up conversation. We used to have enemies. Being a poplular fight club makes it hard not to have a few here and there. But we've smoothed things over and there is no more bad blood so to speak. As for my fighters, of course they'll have enemies. Other fighters they've beaten in the ring. Some of them have swore revenge from time to time. But nothing serious. It's normal for fighters to threaten one another." Kayura glanced out towards the ring and saw the three of us still involved in our tangle. She smirked and then turned her attention back to Kaye. "There has been nothing in regards to threats since Dais. He was one of my fighters who went a bit too far in his tangles. So he ended up with more enemies than the other fighters. In regards to me knowing about you being a singer. Well, I visited there from time to time and I saw you singing during those visits. It didn't dawn on me of where I saw you before until after Anubis and I paid you and your partner a visit."
"I see. I'm curious, speaking of Anubis, we didn't notice him here today. He doesn't seem to be the type to be gone from your side for too long. Any idea of where he might be?" Kaye asked as she studied Kayura.
"Anubis is his own man. He does what he wants, when he wants. He doesn't always tell me where he's going. I don't ask. I figure it isn't my business." Kayura replied.
Kaye raised a brow, "How can it not be your business? You're his boss, or am I wrong?"
Kayura steepled her fingers, as she leaned forward a bit, "Anubis is more of a business partner. You could say our set up is no different than the one you and Kento have. Or am I wrong, and there's more to the two of you?"
This time Kaye did flinch to Kayura's question. She stood and walked over to the window and looked out towards the ring. "We'll let you know something when Kento and I get closer to figuring out the case." Kaye answered as she turned to the door and walked out as she closed it behind her.
Kayura smirked as she got up and watched Kaye make it to the main floor. A sound of something heaving sliding came from behind Kayura. She didn't turn around because she knew it was a door which lead to a secret part of the fight club. "I see your visit to their office didn't pan out."
Anubis stood in the doorway, "No, it didn't I wasn't counting on her fighting against me. I couldn't find anything at their office either after she escaped. They must have their evidence in a different place. We might need to check their homes too."
Kayura kept her eyes out the window, "Then do so. You need to collect whatever they have so nothing comes back on us. We can't afford to have the Dynasty close. Otherwise, our other customers will take their business elsewhere. We can't afford to lose their business."
"Don't worry, we'll go out and search. If we don't find anything at either place, then we'll figure out what to do next." Anubis replied as he disappeared behind the sliding wall.
Kayura continued to watch out the window from her office as she had her drink in her hand. She saw Kaye walk to my side of the ring and swirled her drink before she took another sip. Kayura watched a bit longer and then she turned away from the window and walked back to the far side and opened the sliding wall. She entered and then it closed behind her. Kayura rode the elevator to a section under the Dynasty. It had all sorts of different range of equipment scattered in random places. Kayura walked up to three people who had their backs to her. "I thought I told you to go and search for the evidence they have against us."
Anubis turned half way and looked at her, "I was about to, I was waiting for Badamon and..."
"Hey, do you have any idea how hard it is to lay low and pretend your dead? I'll tell you, it's no picnic. I don't see why it was me who's death had to be faked. Why not one of the others?" Dais asked in slight annoyance.
Kayura raised a brow at him, "You were the easiest Dais, because you made the most enemies out of the other fighters."
Dais crossed his arms, "Yeah, I guess. I can't wait until this is over, then I can get back to fighting."
Kayura narrowed her eyes at him, "You'll continue to lay low until I say otherwise. Am I clear?"
Dais unfolded his arms and grumbled a bit, "Yeah, fine. But I don't have to like it."
"I don't care if you like it or not. You work for me, and don't you forget it." Kayura shot back. "Now go with Anubis and see if the two of you can find the evidence." Kayura watched as Anubis and Dais walked to the car and got inside. She glanced at Badamon. "You have something to say?"
"They're still not thrilled about taking orders from you." Badamon repiied.
"I don't care if they don't like it. If they want to stay with the Dynasty, then they better keep in line." Kayura said as she turned her attention to Anubis' car. "Go along and keep your eyes on them. Make sure they do what they're suppose to do and then report back to me. Once the three of you get back, then I'll have other business for all of you to do." Kayura turned and walked to the elevator and rode it back to her office.
Badamon walked to the car and got in the back. "Let's get going. We have another job when we are done with this one."
Anubis glanced back as he started the car, "Did she say what the next job was?"
"No, but she did say it involved all of us." Badamon replied.
Dais leaned back in his seat, "Must be something big if it involves everyone."
"I suppose, but let's get this job done first. We don't know how much time we have before those two leave here." Badamon pointed out as Anubis pulled out from the underground garage and merged into traffic.
