Anubis, Dais, and Badamon drove through my street and then Kaye's. The three noticed there were crusiers at both places and continued to drive until they pulled into an underground parking garage and rolled to a stop. "Great, so now what? It isn't like we can search their homes with flatfoots parked at their houses."

Anubis leaned back in his seat as he stared out the window, "I hate to admit it, but Dais has a point. We can't do anything until they leave. They might be there all day and all night."

Badamon glanced between the two, "Kayura isn't going to like this."

"I know but there isn't much we can do about it at the moment," Anubis sighed as he kept his eyes focused outside.

"So what do you suggest we do? Wait around until they leave?" Dais asked slightly irritated. "What about going through their office again? Since it's already been tossed once, they might not expect a second time."

Anubis narrowed his eyes when he glanced at Dais from the corner of his eye, "What are you saying? Are you telling me I don't know how to do my job?"

Dais turned his attention towards him, "Take it as you like. Even the best might have an off day and miss somethings."

"Why you little..." Anubis growled as he whirled around and grabbed Dais by the neck and started to squeeze.

Dais brought his hands up and was trying to pry Anubis's hands from his throat. Dais started to struggle, his breathing became slower the longer Anubis held his grip on Dais's throat.

"Enough Anubis. It wouldn't be good if they found his body here with new markings around his neck. They already filed their report, and nothing in it mentioned Dais being strangled." Badamon explained as he separated them.

Anubis backed off as he watched Dais starting to recover. "Count yourself lucky. Because next time, your death might not be faked."

Dais narrowed his eyes at Anubis but didn't reply as his breathing returned to normal. He glanced at Badamon, "So..."

"We go back to the Dynasty and let Kayura know what happened." Badamon replied as they started to drive back to the fight club.

"She won't be happy about us not being able to search their homes." Dais pointed out.

"It won't matter. Since we can't find the evidence they have, then we'll have to deal with the two of them another way." Badamon answered as he sat back in his seat. "Besides, I believe Kayura knew we wouldn't be able to do our search anyway."

Anubis glanced back at Badamon through the rear-view mirror, "You mean she sent us out on a needless errand?"

"Not entirely needless, Kayura wasn't entirely sure if the flatfoots were going to put a survalence detail on them or not." Badamon revealed, "Kayura needed to verify her hunch, and it turned out she was right. Since you weren't able to find anything at their office the last time you were there Anubis. Then the only thing left to do is to get rid of any possible physical evidence you might have left from your visit."

Anubis understood what Badamon meant. He had what he needed in the trunk and then took the next turn as he had them headed to Kento's and Kaye's office. It took about twenty minutes before they arrived. When he parked Anubis got out and put on his gloves as he walked to the trunk of his car and opened it. He reached inside and got a gallon of gasoline. Anubis walked to the passenger side and stopped for a moment, "Keep watching, if anyone comes around take care of them, and then warn me by honking the horn. Think you can handle that?"

Dais narrowed his eyes at him, "I can handle being the lookout just fine. You make sure you don't mess up and get yourself touched in the process."

Badamon glared at them, "Enough, you two are wasting time arguing. Anubis, go and do what you need to, Dais keep watch."

Dais nodded and watched as Anubis disappeared. He started to wonder how far would Anubis would go with his threat. Would he actually kill him for real? The thought of the possibility chilled Dais to the very core of his being. He knew Anubis wouldn't threaten something if he didn't mean to go through with it. The world already believed Dais was dead, so it wouldn't take much for Anubis to do it for real.

Anubis walked into the alley and then broke into the back as he made his way to the office and was pouring the gasoline all over the place. He went through each and every room, making sure he got it everywhere. Once it was empty, Anubis reached into his pocket and pulled out a matchbook and lit a few matches as he threw them in various places. Once he saw the flames erupt, Anubis ran out of the building and into the car as the three of them raced down the street before anyone saw them.

The three of them rode back to the Dynasty in silence. Anubis pulled into the parking garage in the back of the fight club and then shut off the car and got out as he started walking from them.

"Where do you think you're going?" Badamon inquired as he raised a brow towards the fixer.

Anubis stopped and kept his eyes forward as he slid his hands into his pockets, "The job is done. I don't need to tell you where I'm going. I don't report to you."

"You're correct Anubis, you don't report to Badamon. But you do report to me, and I would hate to think you've forgotten that part." Kayura replied as she approached them out of nowhere.

"No, I haven't forgotten. We drove past their homes. There were flatfoots stationed at their homes so we couldn't chance being caught. So we went back to their office and right at the moment it's going up in flames." Anubis replied in a cold manner.

A small smirk danced upon Kayura's face, "I knew I could count on you Anubis. At least one thing went right. We'll have to figure something else later."

Anubis nodded, "If you don't need me at the moment..."

Kayura studied the fixer, "Go ahead. I won't need you for the moment. But make sure when you're out and about if you see those two, keep an eye on them, and do what you think needs to be done."

"Right," Anubis said as he walked away from them and disappeared.

Kayura turned her attention towards Dais and Badamon, "I want you Dais to stay with Badamon. We need for you to stay dead to the world for a little longer. If you expose yourself to the world in this stage of the game, then it'll be over. I don't think you want this to be over do you?"

Dais saw the dangerous glint go off in Kayura's eyes. He knew what it meant, this was her one and only warning. Anyone who crossed Kayura had a tendency of coming up missing or dead. "I'll stay with Badamon."

"Good, I knew you would stay in line Dais." Kayura replied as she walked up next to Badamon and leaned in close to him. "Make sure Dais stays with you no matter what. We can't run the risk of anyone seeing him."

"Of course, but what was the point of having Dais coming with us earlier if you didn't want him out there yet?" Badamon whispered.

"He was getting on my nerves about asking when he could go back out again. I know he wants revenge against the fighters who beat him to a pulp. But it's too soon for his revenge. We need to finish our part to move onto his revenge." Kayura explained to him. "Besides, he can be of help to you."

Badamon nodded and then looked at Dais, "Come along. I need you to come with me. I have work for you."

Dais studied both Badamon and Kayura. He wasn't able to hear what they talked about, but he felt an uneasy sensation in the pit of his stomach. Something wasn't right. But what? Dais didn't have time to figure it out as he had no choice but to follow Badamon to wherever they were going.

Kayura watched and made sure Dais didn't try to run. Once she saw the two of them go into the elevator and the doors shut. She watched the numbers decreasing one by one as they went further underground. Once Kayura knew the two made it to the subbasement she left.

Back inside the Dynasty, I finished my tag-team tangle. I knew those two were going to go all out, and usually I was more than ready for an intense fight. But this one, didn't pan out to the way I thought. I was to say the least a bit angry because the two of them fought dirty. I thought they were supposed to fight by the rules of the gym. I wasn't expecting them to pull every trick in the book. They were supposed to have tested my endurance, they sure did and then some. I made it to my corner just in time to hear Kaye as she approached. I grabbed some water and drank what I could. Then I dropped the empty container to the floor as I turned my attention towards Kaye as she presented me with a towel. "Hey."

"Hey yourself. Are you alright?" Kaye asked as she looked at me in concern.

I started to wipe myself down the best I could, "I'll be fine. What did Kayura want when she asked you to her office?"

Kaye was about to tell me but stopped when Cale and Sekhmet approached, "So doll, why don't you dump this joke of a fighter and come on out with us for a while?" Cale asked as he and Sekhmet jumped out of the ring and stood on either side of Kaye. They reached out towards her and were putting their hands on Kaye.

I immediately saw red and felt a new surge of adrenaline raced through me as I jumped out of the ring and got a hold of Cale. My eyes narrowed at him, my voice had a dangerous tone. "Keep away from her!" I readjusted my grip and threw him across the room. Then I whirled around and was about to take care of the other one, but when I did, I saw Sekhmet laying on the floor on his side.

Kaye glared at Sekhmet as her body was completely tense.

Internally I smirked when I saw the snake was laying on the floor. I was still angry with them putting their hands on her, but proud to see Kaye took care of him herself. I started to calm myself before I spoke, "Kaye, come on, let's get out of here." I needed to get Kaye and myself out of the Dynasty.

Kaye glanced back at me and then nodded as I got my bag and we started walking together towards the front door.

We didn't even look back as we made it outside. Kaye and I took our time walking side by side in silence. "Hey, you did good. Are you doing ok?"

Kaye glanced over towards me as we continued walking. Kaye didn't say a word as she turned her attention forward again. She wasn't ready to talk yet. She needed time.

I respect her decision of not talking yet. I wasn't going to leave her anytime soon. So, we just continued walking for a little while longer. I left my car at the city center, so in its own way, our walk felt good. We made it to my car and I turned my attention towards her.

"Kento, thank you."

I smiled at her as I rubbed the back of my head, "You're welcome, but you took care of Sekhmet pretty well on your own. Even though I didn't see it. I'm just sorry I missed what you did to take him down."

"I'll say it this way. It wasn't in the rules." Kaye replied with a small smile.

I chuckled and then a hearty laugh erupted from my throat. I waited a bit for my laugh to settle before I replied. "Whatever works, I don't care what it took, as long as you didn't get hurt." I looked her over, "Did they hurt you?"

Kaye shook her head, "No, they made me feel uncomfortable. But I'm doing better now."

I smiled back at her, "Good. I'm still going to need my partner to help me finish this case." I raised a brow towards her, "So, do you think you're ready?"

A stronger determination I could see sparked off in her eyes. "I'm with you all the way, no matter what happens."

I nodded, "Good," I glanced around and saw the sun starting to set and the street lights turning on one by one. "It's getting late, what do you say we go and get something to eat? What I was put through with those two worked me up one heck of an appetite."

Kaye laughed a bit at my last statement. Her laugh helped me relax a little more, for a moment, my mind went somewhere else. I felt a bit warm when Kaye brought me back to the present.

"Heh, ah..." I rubbed the back of my head as I gave a sheepish grin.

Kaye raised a brow towards me, "Where were you just now, or do I not want to know?"

I raised my hands in front of me in surrender, "Nowhere, so.."

"Maybe you should get cleaned up first and then we'll go and get something to eat." Kaye suggested as we got into my car.

I nodded and was about to pull out when a cruiser pulled up next to us. We jerked to a stop and I shut off my car as I opened the door and stepped half way out of it. "Hey! What's the big idea!"

"Kento, Kaye, it's good we found you here and you're both ok."

I frowned as I studied Sage and Ryo, "What are you talking about? We left the Dynasty a few minutes ago. Why wouldn't we be ok?"

Kaye looked towards them, "Ryo, Sage, what's wrong?"

Ryo and Sage glanced at one another and then they looked towards us, "We're sorry to tell you, but your office has been burnt to the ground. Everything the two of you had in there is gone."

Kaye and I looked at one another and then back at Ryo and Sage. "Do you two know who burned it down?"

Sage shook his head, "Sorry, if there was any evidence of someone being there it's nothing but ashes. What we can say someone used gasoline as an accelerant. Our guess is they were either trying to send you both a message, or getting rid of whatever evidence you two might have on your case."

I felt my blood starting to boil. It took years for me to even start my gumshoe business. But they managed to take it away from me within a short time. I was more than ready to go back to the Dynasty and pay them back big time.

"Kento, wait, don't. You can't go back there. What were you thinking of doing, force them to admit burning down your business? Or have them admitted to the kidnapping attempt on Kaye? We get it, you want payback, but if you're going to get justice, then hang in there a bit longer and we'll nail all of them." Ryo suggested as he was trying to reason with me.

Sage looked over at me, "after the two of you left your homes, we had officers stationed at both houses to keep under survalance. We had a feeling they would try to get to your homes to pull off whatever they had in mind for the two of you. We have a safe house for the two of you to stay until the case is finished."

"I never ran from anyone in my life. I don't plan to now." I growled as I narrowed my eyes at my friends.

"Kento, we're not asking you two not run, just to lay low. You're both in danger, and way over your heads." Ryo explained as he looked back at me seriously.

We locked eyes, neither one of us were going to flinch.

"Kento, maybe we should go to the safehouse. It's the only option we have at the moment. We need somewhere to rest and think of some kind of plan so we can take them down. Maybe Ryo and Sage can get a hold of Rowen, then we can all figure out where to go from here." Kaye said as she spoke up.

Ryo and I broke our stare down. I sighed, "Fine, but don't misunderstand me, I'm only doing this because I'll get to beat their heads in later."

Sage chuckled, "Fair enough Kento. You'll get your shot, I promise."
