A few hours later Kaye and I were stashed away in the safe house along with Ryo and Sage as we were still waiting for Rowen to arrive. The cars were hidden in a storage facility a block away. I paced around the entire room ever since we arrived. I couldn't sit still. My mind raced with too many questions, and my adrenaline burned throughout my body like fire. This case was getting to me more than any other case I worked in the past. I glanced across the room and saw Ryo and Sage are talking among themselves. I caught them trying to avoid eye contact with me every time my line of sight went their way. They knew I was beyond angry about the whole situation, they weren't exactly sure on how to approach me so they left me alone. Which was a good idea at this point. I averted my attention from them and continued to pace, they continued to talk.

I scanned the room and saw Kaye leaning against a door frame with her arms crossed with a deep frown. I wasn't sure what she could be thinking, but I can only guess it could be the same as me. The ones who burned down our office must have figured out we were closing in on them. Finding a new place to set up shop won't be hard. I can set up pretty much anywhere I wanted, but the location felt like home. I can't wait to pay them back for burning it down. Problem was, we couldn't prove it was them who did it, only speculation. But I didn't care, I was going to make them pay. I wasn't sure what got to me the most. The fact we got played from the start when Kayura visited us, the kidnap attempt with Kaye, or when they burned down our office. They crossed me one too many times, and I was more than ready to pay them in kind.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw kaye's attention being diverted towards the door. I tensed up, more than ready to tangle with anyone who came through the door. I heard Ryo and Sage as they rose to their feet and made their way towards the door. They motioned for me and Kaye stay back and wait. A familiar voice rang out from behind the door and then we relaxed when Rowen walked through.

"Sorry, didn't mean to spook you," Rowen stated as he tossed a bag in my direction. "Here you go Kento, I brought you a change of clothes."

I nodded as I caught the bag and walked to a nearby room and started to change as I listened to them talking.

"Rowen, were you..." Ryo started to ask as he and Sage sat back down.

"No, I wasn't followed. I made sure of it, circled around the block a couple of times and then parked where the rest of you did." Rowen turned around and looked over towards Kaye. "Sorry to hear about what happened with the office."

Kaye looked towards him, "Thanks. So, did you find out anything new?"

"I heard some news. It seems Badamon has been sighted in the city." Rowen started to say.

I finished changing and joined them, I frowned when I heard Rowen mention Badamon. "Wait, are you sure?" I saw him nod, "Badamon was underground for a long time. What could have brought him out from hiding?"

Sage frowned deeply in thought, "Not sure, but whatever brought him out must be something major. What did you find out about him?"

"I called in a few favors and found out Badamon has been working on a new drug of some kind." Rowen explained as he leaned up against the wall.

Ryo looked over at him, "What kind of drug?"

Rowen shook his head, "Not sure, the info I got was limited. But from what I did get, it sounds like the drug is supposed to numb a fighter to any kind of pain, and to make them faster, stronger, be able to fight longer, to push themselves past what's possible. But from what also I've been told is once they take it, the drug is only good for a short time then the fighter well..."

I studied Rowen with a slight frown and then it hit, "Are you trying to say if a fighter takes this drug, then they'll die?"

"Possible. But none of this was confirmed. My contact was interrupted before I could get any more information. I went there and found out he was dead. His place was tossed. Anything and everything, my source had been destroyed. I went through what I could and I found a small vial hidden under his couch. I had it tested and the lab never seen anything like this." Rowen informed us.

"So then was this what Kayura and her fighters are hiding? Since she is now the owner of the Dynasty, it's the perfect front." Sage surmised when he glanced around the room.

Ryo thought it over and nodded in agreement, "Would explain as to why Kayura killed the Ancient. Her grandfather found out about the drug and she couldn't let him tell the authorities so she had to get rid of him. But how do we prove it?"

"When I was in her office. I noticed something was off about the room. There were markings on the floor like something heavy was slid across. Possibly a secret door or something." Kaye said as she found her voice. "Also I did a bit more digging and I found out before the Ancient died, there were plans for some type of construction project. But they weren't filed under him. They were under Kayura."

I looked at her and nodded, "Ok so he figured out about the construction to the Dynasty and the experimental drug. Which when he found out got him killed. How do we prove it? Everything got burned to the ground?"

Kaye glanced at me, "Well not everything."

I raised my brow at her, "Wait, what do you mean not everything?"

"I took what I found and put it in once place they wouldn't think of looking." Kaye replied with a small smirk.

I quirked a brow towards her, there was a hint of a mischievous glint going off in her eyes. I started to smirk a bit in return when it donned on me where she hid the evidence. "You didn't."

Kaye's smirk turned out to be a grin, "Oh, but I did."

I shook my head at her in amusement, "I should have known."

Rowen, Sage and Ryo glanced at one another in slight confusion and then back to us. "Mind telling the rest of us what you two are going on about, or is it a private joke?"

"Sorry, see those goons weren't entirely wrong about me having the evidence at the office. Since they couldn't find it so they decided to burn it down hoping they would have wiped it out in the fire. Only thing is, the evidence didn't get burned up, I put it away in the safe which was hidden behind a false wall which only Kento and I knew about." Kaye explained. "It would be the best place to stash the evidence we needed to put them away."

"Only now, we'll have to dig through the rubble to get to it. We have no idea of how stable the structure is after the fire. There still runs a risk of the rest of the building falling on anyone who would be there at the time." Rowen pointed out as he brought us all back to reality.

"Thanks for being a ray of sunshine, blue," I grumbled as I crossed my arms while glaring at him.

Rowen gave me an apologetical look, I shook it off, "Well, it isn't like we have any other choice in the matter. It isn't like any of them will openly admit to what's going on."

"What do you have in mind Kento?" Ryo asked as he glanced at me. "Even though we are all working the same case, you're the one who had first crack at it."

"Well, we will have to split up. Kaye can go and get the evidence, but I would like Sage and Ryo to go with her just so then I know she'll be safe." I looked at Kaye and saw she was about to object, but i shook my head as she knew I had my mind made up. I wasn't too excited about this plan either, but we were short on time. Then I looked at the others, "While the three of you are getting the evidence, Rowen, and I will be sneaking back into the Dynasty to see if we can find what else Kayura is hiding. Then we'll meet up in an hour at the back part of the Torrent."

"If we are going to meet up in an hour, then we'd better get going." Ryo suggested as he and Sage rose to their feet and started to walk to the door. Ryo glanced back at us, "Kaye, are you coming?"

Kaye looked over at them, "I'm coming," She turned her attention towards me, "Be careful."

I winked at her, "I'll be fine. You be careful too, I'll see you in an hour."

Kaye and I locked eyes for a moment and then I watched her leave with Ryo and Sage. Then I turned my attention towards Rowen, "Ready when you are."

"Hey, she's in good hands, you know Ryo and Sage will keep Kaye safe. Besides, she can take care of herself since you did teach her how to fight." Rowen reminded me.

I nodded as I realized Rowen was right, everything was going to work out, I had to believe it. By the time Rowen and I got to his car, they were already gone. I got inside and watched out the window as new questions whirled around in my head of what we found out from Rowen. A drug which can increase a fighter's ability. Talk about cheating. People usually throw a fight, spike the fighter's water, or persuasion, but this. It's insane to say the least. It burns me to think a reputable place the Dynasty used to be will now be tarnished because of what Kayura and her fighters were doing. The Ancient would be rolling in his grave if he knew what his granddaughter was doing.

Rowen glanced towards me as he caught my sigh. "Hey, care to talk about it?"

I glanced back at him and shook my head.

Rowen nodded as he took the next turn, "Well, since you won't talk about what's bothering you, then at least you can look forward to the tangle you're going to have when we arrive."

I turned my full attention towards him and grinned, "Now you're talking! I can't wait to give them payback for earlier."

Rowen smirked with a short nod, "I'd figure that would lift your spirits."
