(Author's note: This was a request from Redsixwing on tumblr. I headcanon that Gwyndolin is very sickly and doesn't have a good relationship to Gwyn even though they want one, so this prompt was perfect for them. Thanks for the request ^^)
Gwyndolin had always been sickly. They always would manage to get a cold or a stomach bug or even a sickness that wasn't common at all. What added even more insult to injury was that they were a god and should have been in pristine health.
Instead, sometimes they would be forced to stay in bed with a fever. There weren't even any other symptoms. They just had a fever and felt too weak to function.
Gwyndolin hated these days.
As usual, they were alone. They were used to being alone. They were deformed and ugly and their magic was associated with the moon. They were the opposite of a god of sunlight, a deity of the moon and they didn't fit into this family at all.
As they laid in their bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering when the fever would cease this time, they thought about their family and they couldn't help it. Jealousy bubbled up. Their older brother was so tall and strong, a god of war, so radiant that he was called the Firstborn of the Sun, wielding miracles like the sunlight spear and the sunlight blade with ease. And Gwynevere, their beautiful sister, a master of healing miracles, all associated with the soothing sunlight.
If only Gwyndolin could join them, if only they could create miracles instead of wielding moonlight sorcery, maybe then Father would take notice of them.
As soon as it had come, Gwyndolin's jealousy vanished. Gwynfor and Gwynevere were always nice to them. The four knights too. They wondered why Father couldn't be like them… why Father always left them alone.
They cuddled in their blankets with their chest heavy, only one thought in their mind.
"I wish Father would be here and hold my hand and tell me it is fine."
But of course, he didn't come. He never would come. Tears pricked at Gwyndolin's eyes while they fell into an uneasy slumber.
In their dream, someone came. The person took their hand and squeezed it and they felt a cool sensation on their forehead. The person was tall and had wild hair and…
"Father?", Gwyndolin murmured, opening their eyes, but the person they stared at wasn't Father.
It was Gwynfor.
"I am afraid not.", he said, "You didn't come out of your room today, so Nevy got worried and we came to check on you. She's preparing some tea right now. Are you having a fever again?"
"I… yes.", Gwyndolin said, "I woke up with it, don't even know why I have it. Like usual."
"I am sure it will be over soon. You are our sibling.", Gwynfor said, caressing Gwyndolin's thumb, "You can beat this fever with ease."
Before Gwyndolin could say something, Gwyenevere came into the room, carrying a tray. "Dolin, I got some tea that is said to help with a fever. The one that you taught me about. My miracles are awesome against injuries, but lack against illnesses, your knowledge is indispensable for my healers."
"Sister Nevy…", Gwyndolin murmured, "Thank you so much."
"Don't worry too much, just get healthy again.", Gwynevere smiled, pressing a cup of tea into their hands. The moment Gwynfor had to let go so that they could take it, their hand felt ice cold, his hands were so warm, but the tea was nice and warm. It also warmed them from the inside.
"We will stay with you until you get better.", Gwynfor said.
"But… what if Father needs you?", Gwyndolin lowered the cup, staring into the greenish tea.
"He can forgo us for one day.", Gwynfor waved with one hand, "You are more important."
"Agreed.", Gwynevere said, "We will stay with you the whole day. You will get better in no time with our professional sibling care around."
Gwyndolin looked at the door of their room one last time and then at their precious siblings. A smile formed on their lips.
Father hadn't come, but Gwynfor and Gwynevere being here was much better. They surely would get rid of their fever before tomorrow even came.
(Author's note: I hope you liked this little story. The next one will be posted tomorrow and will also be for Dark Souls.)
