AN: I don't know where this came from but here you go! Also I have no will power so don't ask me to turn this into a multi-story as I will and the last time you all asked me to do that with a one shot you got 'The Statement' and now it's the longest fic ever... (Ha!)

Halfway There

A comfortable silence fell, as all eyes focused forward on two people deeply in love. The aesthetic of the room was almost indescribable. The kind of perfection that only eyes can absorb, pictures would never portray the true beauty of today. The chandelier glistened in the early summer sunlight as it shone through the arch shaped windows. Fresh white voile drapes hung from the roof, sweeping down and curving to pin effortlessly to the surrounding walls. The material lay delicately against the solid oak beams that formed the roof structure.

The soft glow of the fairy lights offered a warm hold to all sitting within the space below. The chairs that held them rustic in structure but white and new in color. Two sides of the room fully occupied; Her family and Friends one one, and His the other. At the end of each row lay a bouquet of white and cream roses. Hues of green leaves dared to be seen against the pure background as they rested peacefully on the floor, her aisle was created and waiting at the end was him.

Everyone rose to their feet, emotional lumps of happiness and anticipation lodged in their throat as they all attempted to steal glances behind them. The bride was coming. Three bridesmaids walked before her, leading her down to her future. Each one wrapped in a deep emerald green floor length gown, tears glistening in their eyes with every step they took. Once they took their place at the front everyone breath hitched at the back of their throat; now she really was coming.

He looked at her; his eyes instantly watering as he drank in the most beautiful sight he had ever had the privilege to witness. He glanced down, blinking rapidly and taking a slow deep breath to compose himself. Finally, he lifted his head to recapture her beauty as she walked down the aisle. Her body effortlessly covered in a plain white, long sleeved satin dress. Her arms falling to her waist as her fingers gripped at the Bouquet she held, her nerves setting in.

As she walked further down the Beauty within the back of her dress was revealed to all. The scooped back design allowed her skin to be visible to all whist delicate buttons beginning beneath it and trailed all the way down to the small train of the dress. No veil worn, there was no need for her to unveil herself to him; he knew who she was already. Halfway down she stopped and allowed her brother to take her arm, to walk with her to the next chapter of her life.

When she stopped, tears filled her eyes, the happiness enveloped her as she looked at him.

'Hey' she whispered through her salty tears

'Hey you' his hushed words fell through his smile.

He stood and listened to the words being said, personal vows given and laughter of loved ones filled the room. When she spoke she paused briefly, glancing around and taking in the sights surrounding her. Her eyes fell to the back as someone quietly stepped outside, before they drifted back to the man she loved. Her heart dancing at the sight of him stood there, his brown eyes drawing her in, his gentle smile warming her soul.

'I do' she whispered, echoing his words moments before. Applause, cheers and tears erupted within the room. Their lips connecting and sealing their confessions of love to one another. His hand slipped in hers as he guided her down the aisle, silently vowing to accompany her for life. They smiled and marveled in the happiness, true wedding bliss engulfed them. As they stepped outside confetti was thrown, their clear path distorted by tiny pink, white and red hearts.

Her giggle caught his attention, the purity it held was unlike anything he'd even know, her giggle held something special and he always yearned to hear it. He slipped his hands into his pockets and stepped back as her brother approached, stealing a moment. He watched them deep in conversation, his hand gentle placed on her back and he leant in to whisper something. His hold never wavered as he guided her through the crowds of people, around the perfectly decorated barn towards a quieter empty bench.

'Don't hate me' Will whispered as she turned to him, confused at the empty space before her. She glanced behind her as Will had begun walking away. Her gaze drifted back to the bench before her, and there he was, sat waiting for her.

'I should have known you'd be waiting here' she whispered, her voice delicate as she tentatively walked towards him, she smoothed her dress beneath her before taking a seat next to him, a small falling on her lips as she locked eyes with his; the hues of brown they held; from caramel to coco they carried her to nirvana.

'I ambushed Will, sorry. I just needed a private moment with you' his voice thick with emotion. 'You look sensational' he gushed, his tears lodged In his throat as he tried to contain himself.

'Don't' she breathed deeply, her voice cracking.

'I am sorry I slipped out during the ceremony. I couldn't do it, I just couldn't-'

'So why come?' She bit at him

'Because it should have been me up there with you today' He let his truth slip in a mere second everything was exposed. She scoffed at the irony.

'You had your chance to stand up there with me Henry, you let me down' she spoke through gritted teeth. Watching as he hung his head in shame. The day he let her go haunting him forever. 'I've tried to accept you in my life as a friend Henry, but it's too hard, with our history it's just-'

'It's impossible. I can't be friends with you Elizabeth, I'm still madly in love with you, I want more' his words broke as he spoke through tears. His heart squeezed like a vice as he confessed all.

'Please don't do this' she begged, her tears spilling down her cheeks.

'Why?' He questioned 'You said yourself weeks ago that you had a right to know how I felt' his heart was in the right place, but his timing was incredibly off.

'Yes, Henry I do, but I needed to know weeks ago when I asked, months ago, hell Henry I needed to know all of this years ago! Not today, not on my wedding day' she hissed. Her breath shook as she snapped her eyes away from his, trying to focus on the mountain views before her, anything to realign her from his revelation.

'You need to leave' she whispered into the summer air. 'I need you to leave'

'I get that, I'm sorry Elizabeth, I really am' he cleared his throat, his hands gripping at his trousers as he mustered the strength to stand and leave.

'For good Henry, I need you to leave for good' her lips trembled as spoke words she feared. His mouth fell agape in response, determined to protest.

'What!? Why? Elizabeth I can't lose you' he cried, his Hands grabbing at hers to draw her attention back to him. She sniffled as her heart broke.

'It's impossible for me too Henry, I can't be a good wife when you're around'

'Why?'

'Because I am still in love with you' she snapped, her hand covering her mouth as her deeply held secret spilled. 'Despite the hell you put me through four years ago Henry I always wanted it to be you, I wanted to be your wife but you're too late' her words tore through both their hearts.

His mouth ran dry, his words stuck at the back of his throat.

'Eliz-

'No, You promised me that you'd always show up for me, yet failed to do that. You don't get to ruin this wedding as well.' She stood as her words held conviction. She glanced down at him, her heart ripping at the seams as she remembered the humiliation she felt that day along with the radio silence from him in the months that followed.

'Stay away, please' She begged as her words shook, his head hung in his hands letting her slip away from him once again. The palms of his hands caught his sobs as he felt the breeze replace her presence. With a sharp inhale of air he stood and glanced back in her direction, she was out of sight, no doubt putting on a brave face and back at the side of her husband. His eyes fell to his feet as he kicked the gravel before him, his feet carrying him away.

She was right, he had his chance and he blew it. She was there, ready and waiting. She walked down the aisle on their wedding day, euphoria wrapped around her as she walked towards her groom; Henry. He remembered the way she looked, the smiles on everyone's faces and the happiness he felt which slowly faded the closer she got, until suddenly;

She was halfway there.

And he ran.
