Appearing in the sheriff's apartment, Thana glanced around with her eyebrows raised "wow, looks like I'm late to the party" all the survivors seemed to be running around frantically.
It's funny they're all putting in the work to make the apartment safer for them, but none of them actually believed Death was coming for them. Only three of them genuinely believed in the design.
One of them had been through it before, and to Thana's annoyance, she knew more about it than the demon would like.
Clear's imminent demise would be so satisfying.
Seeing the short, dark-haired woman who skipped her death when Terri was killed getting ready to leave, the demon perked up at her words, "Nora's got to bite it before me anyhow" no one except Thana laughed. "Oh, you people have no sense of humor."
Nora shakily rose from the couch, catching Kimberly's eye, who asked if she was okay. "Four years ago, my husband died. Now Tim. There's nothing left for me. If it is my time to go and be in heaven with my family, I can accept that."
The dark-haired seer shook her head adamantly. "You got to trust me. We can fight this. If we just stick together long enough for her to have her baby-"
"if you'll excuse me, I have a funeral to plan" Nora cut Kimberly off as she sniffed sadly and began to leave the apartment building. Her scent made Thana's nose crinkle.
Depression always gave off the most acidic aroma.
Following the sad, grieving woman out of the room, Thana didn't smile, nor did she smirk wickedly like usual. It wasn't as fun when the survivor was already willing to die.
Unbeknown to the redheaded demon, a certain Angel had arrived in the same apartment. He knew he had to be careful to help the survivors and get out before his sister realized he was there.
He had already outrun their father and younger brother Belphagor many times, but he didn't know how long he had until they finally caught up to him.
But he made a promise to help the survivors of Thana's plan, and he was going to keep helping them.
Although something his brother Balthazar said to him stuck in his mind, was he making things worse for them? Giving them the gift of sight and helping them only made his sister angrier and, in turn, more vicious towards the humans.
"I'm just going to put this in the... closet," Rory says as he holds up the hiking gear to the others who weren't paying attention. Waving them off, the man turns to the closet with an exasperated sigh before heavy-handedly attaching the equipment to the shelf.
Suddenly everything in the closet began to fall, and clinks of metal could be heard as Rory's eyes widened at the sight of all the dangerous items falling toward him.
Rory fell to the floor with a scream and glanced over to see Kimberly giving him an unimpressed look. "Sorry," Whoa. Man with hooks? Man with hooks. Hey, I think I see a man with hooks. Is that...a sign? Do you guys see that?
Feeling a pure energy, Clear turned her head to see the familiar stoic Angel nodding at Rory's words. The blonde-haired woman quickly realized he was still helping them and that something was about to happen. "He's right. Nora!".
Leaning against the wall with one foot propped up behind her and her arms crossed, Thana sighed as she gazed at her nails. She was waiting floors below the others as they descended in the elevator.
Everything was already in motion; Thana just needed to be patient and wait for her time to shine.
Hearing a cell phone ringing, Thana brushed her hair against her ear to listen in. "Officer Burke, I can't- I can't hear you! What?!" the redhead raised an eyebrow at the change of events.
"A man with hooks is going to kill you-" She heard the dark-haired man shout through the phone as Thana frowned in confusion until she realized what was going on.
Castiel had been here.
The elevator's ding knocked the demon out of her vicious thoughts as Nora's shrieking made her wince at the loud noise. Why couldn't people die in peace anymore?
Ironically if she stopped making a fuss, she probably would have been able to get away.
Flicking her wrist, the doors of the metal deathtrap shut quickly against the woman's neck. Eugene put his hands on the door and tried tugging it open with a shocked expression.
The arrow on the elevator signaled that it was going back up, much to the shock of Eugene, who tried to hit the stop button but was given a little electric shock for his efforts.
Nora racked her hands on the metal doors causing fingernail marks to be scratched into them. "Now that's more like it" The demon grinned as the older woman fought for her life.
The strength of the elevator and Thana's power lifted Nora off her feet, which started to kick against the doors helplessly. The dark-haired workaholic came up the stairs as Clear ran down the other set of stairs.
"Kat!" Clear shouted to get the other women's attention as they both instantly began trying to free the screaming Nora.
The elevator eventually jolted when Nora's body hit the top of the frame. Unable to move anymore, the metal box jerked up again, and Nora's body shook from the impact as she gargled, "I don't want to die!".
"Oh sure, now she doesn't want to die" Thana rolled her eyes as the older woman kicked and screamed, what happened to 'I'll do anything to be with my family again.'
Clear shivered but continued pulling on the back of Nora's jeans. Although she hadn't seen the demon, she knew she was around somewhere. "Thana, stop it," she growled under her breath.
Glaring at the blonde, Thana bit her cheek and flicked out her wrist as the elevator thrust up with enough intensity to actually decapitate Nora, sending both Clear and Kat back, holding the now dead woman's body.
The redhead cackled when she heard not only Kat scream as she threw Nora's body away from her, but she could hear Eugene yelling and sobbing from inside the elevator, which was now heading back up.
Clicking her fingers, Thana followed the dark-skinned male back to Burke's apartment as he bursts through the door, babbling incoherently. Kimberly, Thomas, and Rory look on, bewildered "...no escapes my ass. I control my life."
"What happened, Eugene?" Burke tried to ask calmly, but the other man was distraught as he continued to pace and babble to himself. The demon rolled her eyes before jumping onto the comfortable-looking couch.
Eugene let out an angry cry, "You hear me, you reaper cocksucker?!"
Thana's eyes widened in disbelief. "Okay, so I killed Nora. There's no need for name-calling," The girl said with a short growl at the end. When would these people learn not to test her?
"Calm down. What happened? Where's Nora?" Kimberly tried the gentle approach as she threw a cautionary glance at Burke. They needed to know what happened and if Nora was okay.
Eugene approaches Thomas and lunges for his gun, yanking it from the holster "Back the fuck up!" he yells, disoriented, the event that just happened playing in his mind.
The other three all yell out and keep a distance from the visibly shaken man.
"Eugene, what's wrong? Just tell us what happened," Rory says as he holds his hands up in surrender.
Rory and Eugene begin to plead with the dazed man who held the gun at them, switching between the three of them as his face begins to sweat uncontrollably.
A frightened glazed passed over Eugene's face as he jammed the
gun barrel to his temple. The others shrink back in terror. "No, no, no, no!
Don't do it! Don't do it!"
"I ain't going out like that," The black man mumbles to himself. "On my terms!" he chants as if trying to psyche himself up to do the deed before it was done to him. "You hear me! -"
The gun clicks but doesn't fire.
The other three all hold their breath as Thana grins widely. Burke looks stunned as Eugene goes through every round before Eugene sobs and drops to his knees.
Kimberly breathes a sigh of relief seeing the man still alive. She turns to Burke with an annoyed huff. "You don't keep it loaded?".
Burke reaches in and takes the gun away from Eugene, who is trembling. The officer cracks open the cylinder where all the bullets sat neatly and unfired.
"Maybe they were all duds" Rory shrugs unhelpfully as the expression on Burke's face is one of utter disbelief.
"Six in a row? Never. That's impossible".
"It wasn't his turn to die" Clear blinked as she and Kat stood in the doorway covered in blood, watching as Eugene tried to shoot himself after Nora's gruesome death.
Hearing a sinister giggle, everyone felt a chill go down their spines, but none more than Clear, who already knew that sound all too well. They all turned to see a smiling redheaded girl sitting crossed-legged on the couch.
"What does a girl have to do to be taken seriously around here?" Teal eyes flickered over to the dark-skinned male as she sneered, "Oh wait, what does a... 'reaper cocksucker' was it?!".
The blonde woman gulped at the girl's dangerous words. She knew very well that Thana didn't take well to being called names or insulted, and she knew the dark gleam in Thana's eyes.
"Who the hell are you?" the drug addict mumbled as the other occupants in the room wondered the same, but all felt the same chilling sensation that whatever she was, it wasn't good.
"Wow, Clear, you haven't introduced me to your newest best buddies. That's upsetting" A slight pout formed on her mouth as she eyed the other woman. "You don't call, you don't text. I'm beginning to think we're not friends".
"We're not friends, Thana," Clear hissed as the smile dropped from the demon's mouth.
Standing up from the couch, Thana slowly strutter closer to the empath, who continued to stand her ground. "You're right. We're not friends because let's face it, sweetface, everyone you befriend dies."
The sweet tone of Thana's voice only sickens Clear, which is only made worse when a pale hand with painted black nails lifts to twirl a piece of blonde hair around her finger.
"I know Castiel was here" Clear gave off no indication that what Thana had said was true, and the redhead hated that "He was here, right?".
The blonde let out a small snigger. "You're not sure, are you? You have no idea where he is, and it kills you" The rage Thana felt was measurable by the fury that danced in her eyes.
Glass cracking caught everyone's attention as all the mirrors in the apartment smashed, and the windows began to splinter like frozen ice being shattered.
"I am going to take great pleasure in killing you, Clear," Thana whispered, her face only a hair away from the Empaths. "But-" as quickly as lightning, she turned to wink at Kat, "-it's her turn."
"Why do you do this? Why do you take so much pleasure from killing everyone the way you do?" Clear shook her head, breathing heavily. "Why put so much fear into everyone? Dying is scary enough".
The redhead just watched the empath for a moment before a wide mocking smile grew on her face. "If I fill her fear quota, the candyman said he would give me a lollipop."
Clicking her fingers, the lights in the apartment flickered off for a moment before coming back on. Thana was gone; she had disappeared like a shadow.
Everyone was silent for a moment as Clear let out a long shaky breath. As much as she looked strong, still coming face to face with Thana terrified her.
Kat was the most tormented out of all the survivors, the dread that gripped her heart hadn't lessened after the redhead winked at her. It felt like the kiss of death. "Can we find the pregnant woman now, please?"
