I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. I am back with a new story. This is one story idea that seemed to pop out from nowhere. I can't quite remember how the idea came about, but I thought it will make an interesting concept for a story. I have a few other stories planned to be made after this one. Once more, I'd like to remind you, if you have a story request PM.

That is all I will say for now, I hope you enjoy the first chapter and I will see at the end

Chapter 1

An Unpleasant Surprise

The sky was gloomy, as grey clouds covered the sun, covering the colourful green fields in dark shadows, leaving an eerie feeling when fog started to fill the air, the wind turning chilly. A crimson red train broke through the mist, letting out a loud whistle, as it raced over the tracks. Harry Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived sat in one of the compartments, looking out the window, his eyes staring off into space, rather then the trees and fields that passed by. His friends were chatting amongst themselves but Harry had blocked them out, their voices nothing but muffled whispers in his ears. He wasn't sure if they were talking to him, but he didn't care. He didn't care about anything, nothing really mattered. The only thing that mattered to Harry, was the one thought going through his mind. Sirius was dead.

Dead…Dead…Dead…Dead…

No matter how many times the word repeated itself in his mind, Harry still didn't believe it. Didn't want to. But it was true, no matter what Harry said or thought. Sirius was dead and it was Harry's fault. He let himself believe Voldemort's tricks. The Dark Lord lured him there, using fake visions of Sirius being tortured, just so Voldemort could get his cruel hands on a prophecy. A prophecy that Dumbledore kept hidden from Harry for years. That prophecy was the bane of Harry's existence. The reason why his life was the shambles that it was. And Dumbledore kept it a secret from him. Harry wasn't sure what to think about the man, he once looked up to, anymore. What other secrets had the Headmaster kept from him? Harry wasn't sure how much he could trust him. As soon as Harry picked up the prophecy, that's when the trap was sprung. Voldemort's most loyal Death Eaters. If it wasn't for the Order of the Phoenix, Harry wasn't sure if they would survive. Then it happened. Sirius was killed by Bellatrix LeStrange, before he fell into the Veil of Death. Harry remembered watching him fall through, hoping he would appear again on the other side. But he never did.

A part of Harry was still hoping that, sooner or later Sirius would reappear through the arch, but his logical side kicked those thoughts to the curb, whilst making sure to take its wallet too. Even if Sirius did reappear, he was hit by the Killing Curse. Instant death upon impact. Unless Sirius had some kind of 'loving sacrifice' to shield him, he was dead either way. Harry was too busy wallowing deeper into his sinking depression, he didn't notice the train pull into Kings Cross. Not until he was gently shaken by Hermione, who was looking at him with concern. Harry said nothing, as he pulled his trunk off of the train and walked through the barrier, where he could see his relatives waiting for him, impatiently. Hermione and the Weasleys said their goodbyes, but James Badger took a moment to stay behind a moment longer.

"Are you sure you're okay Harry?" James asked

"I'm fine" Harry replied, his voice monotone and quiet,

"Well…okay…" James said, not believing him "If you need anything just ask…"

"I'll be fine" Harry said a little more forcefully

James sighed as he watched Harry walk off. James knew Harry wasn't fine. James invented the phrase 'I'm fine'. James was observant. He was a Slytherin after all. The only Slytherin Ron will tolerate, after James helped Harry and Ron during the whole Chamber of Secrets fiasco. Of course, one didn't need to be observant, to know Harry wasn't fine. He just lost his godfather, his only chance of being part of a proper family and now he had to go back to the Dursleys. James couldn't stand them. The Dursleys obviously mistreated Harry, though James wasn't entirely sure how far their mistreatment went. James didn't like that Harry was going back there and didn't trust them, nor did he trust Dumbledores word that Harry will be fine there. James decided that he will have to see for himself that Harry was going to be fine. As soon as he was in a safe place, where he won't be seen, James was going to have his House Elf Jinx follow them and take him to their house as soon as they arrived back home. Dumbledore may have ordered James and the others to leave Harry alone for the time being but James didn't care. Harry was his friend and he was going to make sure he was okay. Besides, James never liked being ordered about.

Harry said nothing as he sat in his uncles car, overlooking the cars and trees, as they entered a freeway. He was too wrapped up in his own thoughts, he didn't respond, or even acknowledge the insults being thrown his way, even when Vernon's language became more colourful and offensive. Harry didn't care what the oaf thought anymore. Harry didn't even care, or react to Vernon pulling him out the car, when it pulled into the drive. Nor did he care when his feet scraped across the ground, where he was thrown through the doorway and into the living room, where a fat fist connected with his face a second later, causing him to collapse on the ground. Harry's glasses were cracked and blood ran out of his nostrils, but Harry didn't care. All he could think about was the voice hissing in his head. Sirius' voice.

"You deserve this" the voice spat "you deserve this for getting me killed!"

"Those freaks think they can threaten us!" Vernon growled, punching Harry in the chest, cracking some ribs whilst Petunia and Dudley stood back "threaten us to leave you alone, just because you lost someone…another freak…well I've had enough…I'll leave you alone…when your no longer breathing and therefore no longer a problem"

Vernon punched Harry in the face again, causing droplets of blood to drip onto the carpet.

"Vernon!" Petunia yelled, stopping Vernon mid punch "stop…be careful, you're getting blood on the carpet"

"I'm sorry Petal, I'll be more careful" Vernon said

Vernon hit Harry again, breaking his collar bone and fracturing his arm, when the door went flying off of its hinges and someone stepped through.

Jinx had apparated James into a small clearing in some bushes, at a childrens park. The cool air gently blowing the swings, which creaked softly. Jinx had told him that Harry had arrived, stopping at 4 Privet Drive. It was getting dark out, so it was unlikely someone would see him. James walked slowly down the street, carefully looking at each sign on the houses. As all the buildings looked identical to one another, it was hard to tell which was which. Each house was the same, from the door, to the garden, all the way down to the layout of the bricks. He eventually came up to number 4. The light was on and the curtains were open. What he saw, made his blood boil. Harry's uncle besting Harry over and over and, judging by the blood, the man seemed to be trying to kill Harry. James' calm demeanour all but shattered, as he stormed to the door, using his wand to blow it off of its hinges.

"W-who are you?" Vernon asked, as James stepped through the shattered doorframe

James just sneered and raised his wand, hitting Vernon with a spell from his families grimoire. A spell made to inflict great pain. A spell similar to the Cruciatus Curse, but not as dark and was actually legal. Petunia and Dudley tried running, but James quickly hit them with a body bind, before putting Vernon under the painful spell again, for a few seconds. After releasing him from the spell, James also hit him with a body bind, before checking on Harry, crouching down beside him. Harry was unconscious but still alive. Must of passed out mere seconds ago. However his pulse seemed weak and James wasn't sure what kind of damage Harry's uncle had done.

"Jinx!" James called, causing the little house elf to appear

"Kind Master called for Jinx?" She said

"Take me home Jinx" James said, picking Harry up "Harry needs medical attention"

Jinx nodded, grabbing James' hand, before apparating out of the building with a soft crack, leaving the Dursleys in their body binds. After a few seconds Dumbledore stepped through the broken doorframe, looking shocked at the scene before him.

Dumbledore paced back and forth in his office, after having returned from the Dursleys. He had made his way over there when the charms and wards he placed around the building set off, and he was shocked at what he saw. He knew that whoever done this couldn't have been Death Eaters. The Dursleys would have been killed if that was the case and it wasn't Harry, because his stuff was still there and the door was blown inwards not outwards. After going through one of their minds, he couldn't believe what he had seen. He had hoped the Dursleys would treat Harry like one of their own, even after being given warnings. He was more surprised when James appeared and took Harry away. He was the one who tripped the charms. Whilst Dumbledore was disappointed in James for not following a direct order, James had saved Harry from potentially being killed by the Dursleys. The question was now, where had James taken Harry?

James wiped some sweat from his brow, as he waved his wand over Harry's unconscious body. The cuts and bruises were easy to heal and remove, but the cracked ribs and fractured bones were a little bit more difficult. James had to dig out his families spell books to help him as, healing spells and charms were never his expertise. He knew he should have spent more time practicing and studying the healing charms but never did and, considering the injuries he and his friends had sustained over the last few years, he really ought to. After healing up the last of Harry's ribs, James ran a few diagnostic charms, to check his condition where, his readings picked up something inside Harry's scar. It was faint, but it was there. He examined the scar further, where what he found disgusted him. It was foul. He wasn't sure what it was, but he knew someone who might. He rushed over to his fireplace throwing in some floo powder, making a floo call. After a few moments, Bill Weasleys face appeared in the green flames.

"James" Bill greeted, a little bit surprised "I didn't expect you to be calling me…what can I do for you?"

"I need you to come over…and quickly" James replied

"Really, what's wrong?" Bill asked

"I need your help" James replied "I've found something…something foul, I'm not quite sure what it could be, but I thought that…as a curse breaker…you may know more about it"

"Vague, but you sound worried, so I'll make my way over right now" Bill said "I'm guessing you're at Badger Manor?"

"The only safe place where no one can eavesdrop" James nodded "the password to get through is 'Intent'"

"Okay, give me a minute, I'll be heading over now" Bill said

James nodded, once more, and disconnected the floo call and stepped back from the fireplace. After making sure the floo travel connection was secure, James waited where, a few seconds later, the fireplace lit up, with large green flames, which almost blinded James, before Bill stepped through, where the flames faded. Bill brushed off soot and ash from his jacket, where he quickly noticed Harry laying unconscious on a nearby table.

"James…what's Harry doing here?" Bill asked

"He's why I called you" James replied "it's his scar, it contains something dark…I can't quite describe it properly"

Bills eyes narrowed as he took out his wand and started preforming the diagnostic spells he had been taught during his curse breaking career, wondering if one of them will tell him what the scar is.

"I thought Harry was going back to his relatives" Bill said, as the diagnostic charms were being placed "why is he here?"

"His relatives tried killing him" James growled "at least his uncle did…the fat oaf was beating him senselessly, I've already healed his wounds, that's how I found out about the scar"

"I had a feeling Harry wasn't treated that well, but I never thought it was as bad as that" Bill muttered

"You're not the only one" James replied "Whether Dumbledore knows I'm not sure, but something tells me he does, though why he keeps sending Harry there is beyond me"

Bill said nothing, as he processed what James had told him. He continued running his diagnostics, before he found something he wasn't expecting.

"No, it can't be…" Bill muttered

"What is it?" Harry asked

"His scar is a Horcrux" Bill said, skin going pale

And that is chapter one done. What did you guys think?

I have a few plans for what will happen in this story, but it will mostly be me making it up as I go along. Sometimes I find those stories more fun. Unlike some of my other stories, so far, there won't be any pairings in this story, unless something changes.

Now that the end of the first chapter revealed Harry being a Horcrux. What do you think will happen next? Will they seek help from Dumbledore? Will they get help from someone else? Will Harry have to die or will something else happen entirely? Give me your theories in the review section.

That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time.
