In Remembrance of a Sacrifice

(This is what would have happened if I had written Avengers: Endgame!)

The battle was raging, Chitauri and Avengers alike, locked in the melee and yet, the ugly purple titan stood near the sidelines, not really participating, a grin etched across his grotesque heliotrope features.

"What's the next play?" Peter asked, glancing up at Tony.

Bruce grabbed the gauntlet glove, containing the stones and ran away with it with Thanos in hot pursuit. Thanos regained control of the Infinity Gauntlet.

"I am inevitable" he sneered,

He snapped his fingers.

Nothing happened

Everyone looked expectantly at the Sorcerer Supreme. He was holding the infinity stones in his hand. The gauntlet glove from one of the Iron Man suits was on his right hand. He paused and looked at Tony, who was talking to Pepper with the faceplate of his Iron Man suit raised. Inspiration struck Strange in the chest, like a huge bolt of lightning.

"I don't have a choice… you don't want what I want….This is how it must be. I don't mind. The sacrifice is worth it."

Taking a deep breath Strange put the Infinity Stones in the Gauntlet Glove on his right hand. Eyes filled with unrequited emotion, Strange said

"And I… am The Sorcerer Supreme" and he snapped his fingers.

*BANG!*

A brilliantly white flash of light consumed the entire field… The Chitauri turned to dust as did Thanos…

"It's not over yet" said a voice

A tall slim man with deep chocolate brown eyes and gigantic white wings hovered in the ether above where the battle had taken place and where the victorious Stark family now stood.

"What do you mean?"
"I mean that you're about to learn the outcome of a thing called The Infinity Saga…"
