Luckily for me, I now had memories of not being socially awkward, so I was able to make it out of that conversation with nothing but a distinct sense of embarrassment.
From that point on, I took to studying the books in the nearby library whenever dad wasn't around, which was most of the time. He was very busy slaying creatures of darkness. I personally didn't see what was so worrisome about them. Most of them were just mega sized forest animals.
But I would never mention this to dad, I would get a very stern talking to about the family legacy or something.
Apparantly our family was a long line of hunters, who passed down a spear called Destiny. To me, it looked like a big hunk of junk, but it was special, supposedly.
I asked him about why, if it was such an important weapon, why he didn't use it.
Thats when I learned not to ask questions about Destiny.
I tried to get myself some form of internet, which did exist in this world, although they didn't have satellites because Dust didn't work in space.
Took me a while to figure out that Dust was the magic elemental crystals I wasn't allowed to touch. Although I did so anyways.
They were fun, it was like chemistry all over again, mixing different types together, and then trying to repair the damage they caused when they exploded.
Like that one time I mixed Wind Dust with Gravity Dust, apparantly thats sound or something, whatever it was, it broke all the windows in the house, along with my eardrums, and glasses.
That came out of my allowance, I winced thinking about it.
After 3 years to get used to my new life, I was now 13, and ready to go to Sanctum Academy. However, my dad had one last test in store for me.
