at Whitechapel high school in the boys locker room Benny Weir took a deep breath as he started putting on his uniform for figure skating ok let's do this he said to himself before leaving the room.

he then went to the rink to practice his tricks for the competition in private when suddenly his friends Sarah Erica and Rory walked by the rink.

hey my main man what's up? Rory asked looking at his friend in amazement at his skills.

hey Benny the girls said in unison.

not now guys im busy Benny said as he spun and twirled around on the ice staying focused on his goal to not mess up.

ok gotcha buddy but i just wanna tell you how awesome it is that your doing this as a sport and hobby cause most guys wouldn't do this kind of thing it's more girly then anything Rory said.

yeah you gotta point but you gotta admit all my years of playing hockey as a kid finally paid off for my dream to come true Benny replied happily.

his friends nodded at him well good luck buddy i hope it goes well for you next week in the finals Rory said before leaving.

good luck Benny Sarah said.

yeah dork your gonna need it Erica said.

time skip

a week later

people began cheering in the stands in the arena for all the male and female skaters as they all came onto the ice at the same time but Benny was the one who got the most praise and love from everyone in the crowd since he was a fan favorite from the fans.

ladies and gentlemen give it up for all the boys and girls as well as everyone's favorite skater Mr Weir the announcer said as Benny and the other skaters waved to the crowd all the different boys and girls took their turns and skated before their time was up and their scores ended up being perfect at 100%.

Benny felt nervous for a moment seeing the other skaters perfect scores but chose not to let it get to him as he closed his eyes for a second taking deep breaths again before he started getting on the ice.

he then started his skating route as he moved around on the ice doing spins and leaps as well as putting one foot up in the air and skating on one foot before deciding to end his turn with skating backwards but sadly it went wrong as he lost his footing and landed on his back luckily he wasn't hurt too badly from the padding in his uniform but that doesn't mean it wasn't still painful though.

the crowd gasped in shock and worry at the sight before them oh my Mr Weir seems to have fallen the announcer exclaimed.

Benny grunted in pain trying to get up but he couldn't move as he just laid there on the cold icy floor.

BENNY ARE YOU OK!? the girls asked from the crowd with concern in their voices.

yeah... but i can't move Benny said weakly.

QUICK MY BUDDY NEEDS SOME HELP HERE! Rory yelled.

it wasn't long before paramedics came and helped Benny to get off the ice.

the crowd of people groaned in disappointment at Benny's slip up since his mishap caused his score to his performance to be a 0% and Benny sighed in defeat from this.

folks im sorry but Mr Weir is out and im afraid the only way for him to build his way up again he'll have to step his game up more then ever before the announcer said.

maybe next time buddy Rory said in support for his friend as he patted Benny on the arm to make him feel better by comforting him.

a year later

Benny was up in his bedroom playing Knights Of Ninjitsu 9 on his desktop when suddenly there was a knock on his door and his grandma Evelyn Weir came in to check on him.

hey dear how are you doing? Mrs Weir asked.

fine Benny replied in a bored tone not paying attention to her.

Evelyn sighed.

dear please talk to me is your blood sugar low do you need a snack? if so can you eat something cause im worried about you and you've been in the house for awhile now so why don't you go and hang out with your friends? cause they haven't seen you for some time Mrs Weir said.

no thanks Benny said.

alright dear just think about it for me Evelyn said before leaving the room.

Benny then let out a yell of anger as he got up from his chair and stormed over to his closet and picked up his old hockey stick holding it for a moment in his hands before he threw it at the wall.

Benny then started crying as tears began running down his face from sadness as he started thinking back on his screw up he made on the ice a year ago.

if i didn't make that move to skate backwards my skating career would be at number one right now and towards the top of the list now it's ruined all my years spent in college to make my dream happen for real wasted what am i gonna do now? Benny thought in his head.

just then he heard the door bell ring which caused him to come back to earth as he left his room and went downstairs to open the front door to reveal a boy standing there in front of him.

what do you want? Benny asked rudely.

if your Benny Weir i think im at the right place so i just wanted to say hi im Ethan Morgan and it's very nice to meet you i've heard that you are a figure skater so i think that's pretty cool and im a big fan the boy said.

um thanks now goodbye weird fan person who knows my name Benny said quickly as he started to shut the door in the boys face but was stopped in doing so.

WAIT HEAR ME OUT PLEASE! Ethan pleaded.

ok Benny replied as he pulled the door back open.

i feel for you since i heard about your accident a year ago but i can help you become the best again cause im a figure skater as well Ethan said.

you are? Benny asked looking shocked.

yep i started becoming one cause you inspired me to be one so i have an idea for you we can team up as a pair and win which will help you rise to the top again in doing the sport Ethan replied smiling at him as he showed him the flyer/poster for the sign up info for figure skater team pair ups.

what's in it for you and what do you want in return? Benny asked as he took the flyer in his hands and looked at it while crossing his arms with a scowl on his face.

nothing i just want to help you because i know how much you love skating and how much winning the competition means to you Ethan replied simply.

actually you got it all wrong cause winning means nothing to me Benny replied.

but i thought you wanted to be number one again? Ethan questioned looking lost and confused.

i did but i realize now that the whole reason i started playing sports to begin with was because of my parents before they died in a car wreck years ago they loved playing them with me while i was growing up and at first they wanted me to either play basketball baseball football or soccer because those are more manly type sports for my gender but then they realized that my heart in the beginning was in playing hockey before it switched to figure skating and they supported me fully in it cause they just wanted me to be happy as the loving parents they were to me so i just want to make them be proud of me Benny explained.

oh Benny im sorry i didn't know may your mom and dad rest in piece Ethan said as he walked over to give him a hug Benny went still as the gesture took him by surprise then Ethan pulled away and looked into his eyes.

so are you in? Ethan asked looking hopeful.

Benny looked down at the poster and flyer in his hands again before he looked up to meet Ethan's gaze.

im in Benny replied.

Ethan smiled brightly at him in return.

great we'll start working together soon by the way here's my number so i can keep in touch with you too as well cause i like you and i think your a great person Ethan replied giving the dark haired green eyed boy his number before he left the driveway of the Weir household.
