Finally! the sequel!
Disclaimer: I don't own any characters i didn't make up
It was dark now; she has been wandering the forest all day and was tired. She wished she still had Jingi to ride, she never did like walking, she was too lazy. She didn't need to make a fire; she didn't get cold or hot, but she made one anyways. It helped her still feel human, sitting by a fire, watching the flames dance with shadows. She bit into an apple though she couldn't taste it, she didn't need substance anymore, her body didn't need any food or water to survive anymore. Perhaps it was because her heart didn't beat any longer, she was Death after all.
Still, she drunk wine and ate fruits, it helped her feel alive still, she liked to pretend in some form she was still breathing. It helped the pain and heartache of missing her home a little easier. The years seemed like one long day to her, the rising of the sun and setting of the moon blending together like blinks of an eye. She spent decades in the Catacombs, the time was different there. Once Thanatos was finally sure she knew all there was to know about being the Grim Reaper, he sent her on test missions.
Kagome was not aware so much went into being a Reaper, she thought she was to just escort souls to the gates of the underworld. But there was so much more involved, her responsibilities ranged from; making sure certain people died, making sure certain people didn't die, making sure certain people met, making sure certain people were born, making sure certain people never made eye contact.
The list can go on, she never thought she would play matchmaker at times, getting people laid for the greater good. Thanatos explained it to her as a necessary balance, the light and the dark had to co-exist. He told her death is needed, evil is needed but there had to be a balance and that was her job, to maintain that balance.
It took some time for Kagome to ease into this role, but after the first four centuries she finally got the hang of it. She laid back against a sturdy tree trunk and sighed, looking up into the moonless sky. She visited her kids today; she stayed in the distance so she wouldn't disturb their playing, but she saw them. Every chance she got, every quiet moment between jobs she was rushing back to the West to see her family.
She smiled up into the starry sky, she saw Sesshomaru today too, he was in his study, desk piled with paperwork as always. Tenseiga must have alerted him of her presence because he had suddenly glanced up, those beautiful eyes she loved so much scanned the room then glanced down to his sword. He did not look up again but there was a smirk on his face as he continued his paperwork.
She had smiled and left, she didn't talk to him, though she could of, ever since she became Death she avoided talking to him. It would be too much for her, she would probably break down, probably try to touch him, to hold him one last time. And she couldn't, she was death, her touch meant death, gazing upon her meant death. She couldn't risk their feelings getting involved and breaking the rules and then someone would end up dead.
She sighed again, tossing her apple core into the fire, she missed him so much, missed them all, her friends, the soldiers, the maids, Akito, Kanyto, Hampton, her babies. But she knew this was her fate all those years ago when she first signed that contract. Thanatos knew this was her fate ever since he gave her a part of his soul. Something tingled on her hip, she glanced down, there was a small hand mirror strapped to her waist. She pulled it free and stared at her reflection, immediately the glass began to ripple like waves.
A voice crackled through the glass, " Hey mini me, I got a job for you."
Kagome smiled at the nickname, she remembered when Thanatos offered to just stream the jobs directly into her mind, but she opted for this form of communication instead, she was so tired of voices in her head.
" What's it about?"
There was a laughter through the mirror, making the ripples dance with the voice, " Oh you're not going to believe this. So, this woman is blackmailing her own kid to sleep with her, the father doesn't have a clue and the kid is 2 days from committing suicide because he can't take it anymore."
Kagome shook her head, " That is sick."
" It gets even better; the lady doesn't know she's 7 weeks pregnant with the kid's baby. So, when the kid dies, she'll raise the baby, the father thinking it's his, then she starts sleeping with that kid when he turns 14. But this kid ain't having it, he'll kill the mother, then every female in the house then attack every female in the village, then the next village after that one and the one after that one."
Kagome frowned, " Birth of a serial killer."
" Exactly. So go kill the bitch and get the baby if you can, if you leave now, you can catch her in the act."
She nodded, " On it." standing, she strapped the mirror to the inside of her cloak, and waved her hand, the fire snuffing out. She turned, stepping into the shadows, she closed her eyes and focused. She could feel her body slowly turn to mist; this was one of the tricks that took her a rather long time to master. How to transport or orb they called it, the first few times she tried it, she would end up nowhere near the place she was trying to get. One time she orbed right into a boulder where she was stuck for 4 days. With Thanatos laughing the entire time as she struggled to free herself.
She smiled at the thought as she drifted like pedals in the air, over the centuries they spent together, Thanatos was more a father to her than just in name. They actually had a lot in common with each other and seeing the way he talked and act Kagome noticed she did take a lot after him. He has become one of her closest friends over the years. She even met some of the gods so many people prayed to, she met Aries, Athena, Aphrodite, Poseidon, some other ones she didn't know the names to and even Hades. She had to admit she liked Hades the most out of all of them. He was nothing like she expected him to be. He wasn't some scary monster that was consumed with rage or evil. He was like Loki, the trickster god she met, always laughing, always pulling pranks and always trying to add to his collection of souls. He was charming and flirtatious and extremely good looking. And he can hold his liquor very well.
She was drifting for a few hours though it felt like moments to her, she blinked opening her eyes. She stood in the tree line of a large manor, she smiled into the shadows of the home. She hasn't been on these lands in a long time and it felt good to be home even if it was just for a moment.
She waited until the candles were blown out before she stepped forward. She took the form of her shadow, unseen and sliding against the walls of the large home. Servants were preparing for bed, guards were changing their shifts, and maids were doing last minute cleaning. She slithered passed all of them, making her way deeper into the manor. The owners of the home were sleeping, the husband and wife duo were one of the largest silk distributions in their village.
She slid into the bedroom of the couple but only one person occupied the bed, a man. She stood over him for a moment able to read his heart with just a stare. The husband was a sweet older gentleman, kind and understanding and good to all his employees. She sighed at what she was about to do, poor guy she thought, she kicked her foot out and knocked over the bedside table.
The older man bolted up in the bed at the noise, he blinked his tired eyes and looked around. Kagome watched him, he was actually kind of cute for an older man. His body was still in good shape, hard and strong, the gray at his temples made him look distinguished. She waited until his brown eyes fell on the corner, she was standing in to move her shadow across the door.
He blinked, " Who's there?"
Why do they always ask that, she thought, watching him get out of the bed. Kagome followed him out the door, literally standing right behind the man, becoming his shadow as he stepped into the hall in his pajamas. He looked around for a moment, " I thought I saw someone; I'm probably just getting old." he mumbled.
Kagome sighed, he was too naive she thought and touched a hand to the wall, causing it to slightly shake, knocking a candle stick over. The older man blinked, following the sound, " Who's there?"
She crept down the hall with him, blending in with the rest of the shadows, she could hear the moans and groans as they came closer to the other side of the family wing. She frowned at the thought, she knew what she was going to see when her shadow phased through the door.
She stepped to the left as the old man pushed the door open, his mouth dropped in surprise at seeing his wife naked and on top of their 19-year-old son. " What are you doing?!"
The older woman gasped, turning on the bed, " John!" she grabbed at the blanket to cover her naked body, stumbling to a stand, " It's not what you think honey!"
He shook his head, " What the hell you mean it's not what I think, I can clearly see you were having sex with our son!"
The young boy sat up in the bed, " She made me do it! She said you were going to disown me and kick me out! She said she was the only reason I was still here and that I had to do it if I was going to stay!"
The mother's head snapped over to her son, " Shut your mouth Nathan, you don't know what you're talking about!"
John stepped forward, " Did you force our son to have sex with you Elisabeth?"
The woman just clutched the covers to her chest, backing up, " Sweetie, just listen to me."
Nathan stood, pulling on his boxers, " I have proof dad!" he ran over to his dresser and pulled the bottom drawer all the way out and stuck his hand into the dark hole. He pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to his father. It was a letter, no it was a will, his will, a fake copy of his will. It said he was leaving his son with nothing and everything to his wife.
Nathan stood by his father, " She said you wrote that and only she can change your mind, she made me sleep with her regularly." Tears touched his young eyes, " It made me sick; she makes me sick."
John looked up at his son, seeing the true horror and disgust on his face, he then turned back to his wife. She was still standing there, " I can explain John."
There was a calmness on his face, " No, I don't think you can."
Kagome smirked from the shadows, get that bitch she thought. John stepped forward, dear Elisabeth stumbled back, and Kagome saw her opportunity. Still in shadow form she slid forward and stepped on the blanket the woman was holding to her chest. She tripped, arms flailing as she fell backwards, she crashed hard into the glass window and flipped backwards over the sill. The two men moved forward and poked their heads out, they saw Elisabeth laying on the ground in an awkward position, eyes wide and dead.
Kagome left the men to deal with their emotions on their own, she swept down the side of the manor until she was beside the dead woman. Stepping from the shadows, Kagome frowned and kicked the woman in the side, " Wake up."
Brown eyes blinked, the woman gasped for air, she sat up slowly, her transparent blue soul separating from her dead body. She stood, still naked and looked around, " What's going on?"
" You're dead."
Brown eyes turned towards the voice, she screamed at what stood before her. White elastic bat wings arching from the top of her head to the tip of her ankles, sharp boned tips sharp and jet black. Midnight blue locks flaming, swirling around her with her unseen power. Long bangs swaying out her face, a white lightning bolt on her forehead. Slowly she raised her lids. There weren't any pupils, just a swirling cloud of black. She was dressed in a royal blue kimono, an intricate design of silver swirls swirling around the low connecting flaps, stars and crescent moons decorating the seams. Her silver obi matching the silver slippers she wore, slits in the bell like sleeves showing the bandages that wrapped around her arms and hands, the black under layers of her kimono making her look like a midnight goddess.
" Who are you?"
Kagome just stared at her, " I am Death."
The woman started crying, " No, I don't deserve this! I didn't do anything wrong! I was just so lonely!"
Kagome just frowned, you were blackmailing your own son to have sex with you, fucking pervert. She took a soft breath, " You have been condemned to the seventh level of hell for your sins."
Elisabeth dropped to her knees, " No! Please! I can change, I swear!"
They always said that, made promises on how they could change and be a better person, blah, blah, blah. She heard it all before, Kagome just stared at the female, " Your words fall on deaf ears."
Twisting her staff, she broke it down to the two hand scythes, she raised one in the air, the power of the weapon making it glow black. Elisabeth screamed, bowing her head to the ground, " Please! Please! I'll do anything!"
Kagome smirked, just like a script she knew the woman was going to say that. She lowered her weapon, " Let's trade then."
Elisabeth looked up, confused " I have nothing to give you."
" But you do. The soul of your unborn child."
She gasped, grabbing her stomach, " I'm pregnant?"
" Yes. With your son's child. Trade the soul for a lesser punishment."
She nodded immediately," Yes anything please."
Kagome nodded and waved her hand, a scroll appeared, she flipped it open, " Sign."
Elisabeth just nodded, taking the feather that appeared in front of her and signed her name. Kagome just smirked, most of them never took the time to read it, she slid the scroll into her sleeve and then pulled out a small black bag. Her hand reached forward and touched Elisabeth's forehead and pulled a white ball of light from her body. She put it in the bag and also tucked that into her sleeve.
" So, I'm okay now right, you're going to let me live?"
Kagome grinned, showing rows of sharp teeth, " That was not part of the deal."
" What?!"
" You traded the soul for a lesser punishment, not to live again." She said, swinging her scythe down, Elisabeth screamed, cowering on the ground. The tip of the scythe stabbed the spot above her head, the ground cracked, then split open. Ghostly shadow hands, reached out whispering, grabbing at the woman's arms and legs. She fought them screaming, but they were like smoke when she touched them, then turned solid burning her as they pulled her beneath the earth.
The ground then closed as if nothing ever happened. She stared at the empty spot for a moment before turning, closing her eyes once more, letting her body drift yet again as she orbed back home.
Hours later, Kagome blinked, realizing she was at her destination. She stepped over a tree root and walked into a small clearing. There were ten oak trees, forming a half circle. A huge weeping willow dividing them in half. Tree's, she planted when she was 7 years old. Walking over to the willow, she pushed a long draping leaf out her way, seeing the entrance to a cave. Walking through she felt a sudden shiver of a barrier. The cave widened out, able to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Standing in the opening of the finished tunnel, she was standing at the edge of a secluded clearing, with a calming pool of fresh cold water in the center.
The grass beneath her was soft and springy, flowers made a rainbow of colors across the cave. This was her secret garden she had worked so hard to create for her surprise gift to her family.
Pale eyes glanced around; she had made a walkway of steppingstones to separate three different entrance ways. An acre of wreath holding a plaque with her family member's name on it letting you into the maze of scents and hedges she made so long ago. The garden was a magnificent sight to behold.
She smiled at the thought of her parents, a long time ago this place use to cause her so much pain. But now she focused more on remembering the joy her parents brought into her life. Especially with Souta being alive somewhere, her heart didn't hurt as much as it did before.
" Hey mini me, you got the goods?"
Kagome turned and saw her father lying back on a lounge chair, in just a pair of black sashinuki hakamas and black boots, his chest seemed to be carved out of marvel, the delicious abs out for the world to see, the V cut low and seductive. His black eyes deep, his plum lips grinning, his long black hair over the end of the chair, the tips a deep red. A small black star on his forehead and many more scattered across his strong arms, sunbathing in the heat with a cup of blood wine on a small boulder beside him.
She grinned, " Yeah I got it."
A man walked out from another room in the back, " See Thanatos, I told you she'll do it in 4 hours tops."
Kagome looked over as the man took a seat on another lounge chair, sipping at his drink. His long hair was loose and flowing around his shoulders. The strands a rich deep burgundy, so dark at first glance it looks black. His chiseled face like the prince out of a fairy tale, his skin a tanned creamy caramel bronze. His silver eyes like polished stainless steel, plump lips juicy and delicious looking. His broad shoulders and bare chest rippling with muscle, his claws black and no specific markings on his body. But then again most of the gods she met didn't have markings. Dressed like her father in just a pair of blood red sashinuki hakamas and black boots, chest much like the man beside him, delicious.
He grinned at her, " Come on Kags, take a load off and tell us all about it." He winked at her, " Matter of fact, take it all off."
Kagome laughed at the perverted god, " Hades you are such a flirt."
He just smiled and shrugged a shoulder, " What can I say, it's in my nature."
She smirked, closing her eyes for a moment, shifting to her more humanoid form, before pulling at her kimono she wore until she stood in just her bra and panties, her hair no longer flaming flowed down her back in a well-blended mix of midnight blue and black. Her claws white then dips into navy blue, her ears elf like and pointed. Her markings of two needle thin midnight blue lines swirled and crisscrossed from her claws up her arms. The four lines joined together at the base of her neck and laced down her back like a french braid. Before reaching the end of her back the strands broke off again and swirled around her waist before twisting down her legs. The black stars on her neck, traveling down the left side of her chest to her waist. Her eyes a light pallid blue, a white lightening bolt on her forehead.
" I thought collecting souls were your nature." She said walking over and laying on the lounge chair between her father and the god, the heat in this area perfect for tanning.
He glanced over, " Speaking of souls?" he reached out a hand.
Kagome smirked, snapping her fingers, the small black bag she tucked in her sleeve appeared. She dropped it in the waiting palm, " All yours."
Hades smirked, " That's my favorite supplier."
Thanatos took a sip of his drink, " She was my supplier first."
Hades glanced at him, " You're retired you old bat hush up."
Kagome laughed, waving her hand again, now holding the scroll. " Here."
Hades took the scroll and read it over, Kagome leaned over and picked up her father's bottle of blood wine, the only type of liquor she can taste since it's not made in this plane, and swallowed some of the cool liquid, " What's gonna happen to her?"
Thanatos shrugged a shoulder, " I say you let the bitch get a dick up her ass daily. Fucking your own kid, what kind of shit is that."
Kagome nodded, agreeing, " She said she was lonely, being violated every day should keep her company all right."
Hades blinked, then grinned, " You are so much like your father it's scary." He nodded, " But I agree, blackmailing your son for sex is a disturbing sin. Brutally assaulted for all eternity it is."
He snapped his fingers, a scream was heard, they all saw the transparent blue body of Elisabeth fly through the air and plummet into the water of the cool pond. Hades laughed, " That never gets old."
Kagome just smirked with a roll of her eyes, ever since they made her garden an entryway to hell, she seen thousands of bodies fly through here like that. She turned to Hades, " What about the baby?"
Hades just shrugged, bouncing the black bag in his hand, his job was to punish people who deserved to be punished. He hated handling innocent lives if it didn't include fucking it up with manipulation and seduction. He tossed it to her, " You deal with it."
Kagome smiled, she knew Hades had a soft spot for kids, she nodded, waving her hand making the bag disappear. This wouldn't be the first time she dealt with souls the god didn't want. She usually just found a family that was struggling to have a child and answered their prayers.
Hades glanced at her, " But make sure you keep an eye on this one, it has darkness in it."
Kagome nodded, taking another drink of the liquor. Thanatos reached over and took his bottle back from his daughter, " So life in the underworld isn't that bad right?"
Blue eyes rolled, " Don't even start that."
Thanatos grinned, taking a sip of his bottle, " Just saying, I haven't heard you ask to go home in a while."
Kagome glanced over, " Because the answer is always the same. The Gods have a way of doing things."
Hades nodded, " Which is true, contrary to most belief we can't just do what we want. Everyone has a path that must be followed, everyone has a destiny that must be fulfilled..."
Kagome frowned, reaching over and taking her father's bottle back, mumbling the next line under her breath, " No matter how large or small, everyone has a part in the future of life."
Thanatos laughed seeing Hades frown at being mimicked, " That's my girl."
Kagome grinned, unable to help it, Hades simply rolled his eyes, taking another sip of his drink, " Fate is not something to be taken lightly..."
" Everything happens for a reason." Kagome and Thanatos said together, again finishing Hades' sentence.
The father and daughter burst into laughter as Hades' silver eyes glared at them, " I am not that predictable."
Thanatos shook his head with a smile, " Of course not."
Kagome giggled, agreeing with her father, the god of the underworld was only predictable when it came to the fate and destiny chatter all the gods tend to always want to preach about. There was a sudden whisper in her ear, a soft buzzing she grown accustomed to. The earth was calling for balance, Kagome frowned, sitting up, her breaks were never long in this world of constant death.
" Duty calls." she mumbled.
The two men watched Kagome stand and dress as she slipped the black kimono over her shoulders, the soft material sliding over smooth, silky, butter cream skin. The top layer came next, and they just stared, Kagome had a body like no other, she was so toned and so muscular, but it was so feminine it shouldn't be possible. Her stomach was flat and toned, her abs softly indented, only insinuating her slim waist that made her hips look bigger. The cuts in her arms noticeable but still sexy, she had such a perfect hourglass figure you could believe for a moment she was carved out of marvel.
Hades watched her tie her sash, grab her staff and head for the entrance, the barrier that allowed her in shimmering as she left. He glanced over to his creation, much like Naraku use to do, he made Thanatos from his own body. Death itself in a human form, but unlike the once half breed, his incarnations were actually his children, " Your daughter's hot."
Thanatos laughed, picking up his bottle of wine, " You know, technically that's your granddaughter. So that makes you a pedophile."
Both men laughed, clinking their cups together in a toast, relaxing in the heat of the cave. They were both very happy that Kagome mentioned this place to them, it was so much more pleasing to lounge here instead of hell. It was surprisingly cold down there.
More to come!
