More to come!
Sesshomaru stood on his balcony, leaning against the railing as he watched three puppies the size of ponies run around the garden, happily chasing each other. Two were identical, crimson red eyes, silvery white fur, their tails dipped in royal blue, magenta markings on their jaws. Both had a blue crescent moon on their forehead that was entwined with white lightening and a midnight blue line twisting on their body. Saya was just a tad smaller than her brothers, not because she was weaker but because she was female. Her shape was definitely feminine, her fur a silvery bluish tint, the two magenta marking curving elegantly on her jaw, as of her two blue markings, her eyes a crimson red like her brothers.
They would have looked like ordinary inu demons except for the blue flames engulfing their paws, hinting to their heritage on their mother's side. The twins chased after their sister, trying to get a bite of her silvery tail that was dipped in icy blue. Sesshomaru just smirked at his children, he would have to remember to get Saya a kimono in that color, the silver and blue of her fur blended so well.
He watched as Atomi was the one to get the first bite on Saya's tail, making her growl rather cutely in her demonic form. The youngest of the three suddenly pulled back, rearing up on her hind legs and gave a sharp bark. Flames erupted from her mouth in a ball, she was the only one out of the three of them that could breathe fire. The triplets could control fire, not as strong as Kagome could but perhaps when their older. Right now, they could light their hands in flames though they couldn't hold it for long, all of them had a high body temperature and did not burn but Saya was the only one that could breathe fire even it if was only in her demon form.
They were getting pretty big, about the age of 7 in human years, he watched as three Dy wolves tried to keep up with the energetic children. Kagome made the right call when she asked for the wolves, since the day he put them in their cribs, they have been inseparable. The wolves were extremely protective but not as protective as the twins were with their sister. You would think, being triplets there would be some sibling rivalry. Or even because there were two boys and a girl, the boys would gang up on the youngest but that's not how it was with them.
The twins were so overprotective, Saya was never found without one or both of them around her. They didn't let anyone they didn't know or trust near her. Because they were bigger Sesshomaru asked them if they wanted their own rooms. They declined, stating they wanted to stay together, so he ended up just switching the cribs out for raised beds.
He watched as a white whirlwind surrounded the children and they reverted back to their human forms. The twins plopped to the ground, their molten colored eyes shining a deep sun kissed gold in the light, much like their fathers. Their short silvery hair that you just wanted to tussle hanging down, the midnight blue tips of their bangs getting in their face. Their high cheek bones just adorable as they grinned.
The twins were dressed much like himself, their kimono tops were mostly white with a red and white cherry blossom flower crest at the collar and sleeves, showing that they were of royal birth. They were both wearing black sashinuki hakamas instead of white with black boots, a navy blue and yellow sash tied around their waist.
Saya sat between her brothers, her icy blue hair, lighter than her mother's royal blue by a shade or two and longer than her brothers, pulled back into a high ponytail, her silver uneven bangs getting in her face. Her deep blue eyes so dark they seemed to glow. She wore a white kimono that stopped at her ankles, a red swirling pattern around the connecting flaps, her obi red matching the flames that designed the bottom of her kimono. She wore white silk slippers, showing a gold ankle bracelet on her left leg.
The large wolves bounded up to them, taking a seat beside each of its companion as they rested for a moment. There was a soft tingle on his hip, his eyes immediately begin searching the tree line. He knew exactly what that feeling meant, this was not the first time this happened. If the sword of life was pulsing that meant death was nearby, amber eyes fell on a shadow by the oak tree closest to the kids. Softly a smirk crossed his face, Kagome. He knew it was her. He knew she was watching over them. He had seen that shadow randomly throughout the years, standing over the children's cribs, standing in the corner of his study and keeping her promise of destroying any female that tried to take her place.
This one time a visiting ambassador from the Cayman Islands was here on business for trade routes. Everyone knew that Kagome was now Lady Death, stories about her traveled far and wide. So, everyone, as in everyone, guards, servants, soldiers tried to explain to any female that came along, not to mess with Sesshomaru. But this cocky little woman didn't want to listen, she flirted with the great demon lord, wore revealing clothes, made up excuses to visit his study late at night. Even orchestrated an entire outfit malfunction so her dress would drop in front of him completely revealing everything she had to offer to him. The girl was a desperate mess, but it wasn't until the night she had tried to kiss him.
Sesshomaru was in his study and the girl came in determined to get what she wanted. She had barged in his study, naked, climbed on his desk, grabbed his kimono and pulled him forward to plant one on him. Before he can even roll his eyes in annoyance, a shadow crossed the floor, it engulfed the girl completely before tossing her around the room with an unseen force.
Sesshomaru stood at his desk just watching as the girl was tossed around like a possessed doll, crashing and slamming into everything around her. When she finally hit the floor, he walked over to her and bent, checking to see if she was still alive. He had felt a whisper of cold breath on his neck and a sharp hiss. " Mine."
It was the first time he laughed in a good while; he turned but the shadow was already gone. It took moments for Akito, Hampton and Kanyto to reach the study. They blinked, all confused at why the woman was laying naked and bloody in the destroyed private room.
When they looked at Sesshomaru for answers he just shrugged, " Kagome didn't like her."
After that females really, really knew not to mess with Lord Sesshomaru or death would be knocking at their door. He smirked as the wolves picked up on the presence of the kid's mother. They too were able to sense the power Kagome now possessed though she was in her invisible shadow form. They didn't growl or snarl, they simply stared in her direction, the shadow slipped back into the forest when the kids started to question what they're companions were looking at.
The last few decades have not been easy for him, taking care of his lands, trying to raise three babies, the death of the human priestess that in a way brought him and his mate together. Not having Kagome here with him was hard, the hardest thing he ever had to deal with honestly. But she always found a way to remind him that she was still fighting for them. For example, at times instead of just sensing her presence or seeing her shadow, there would be scrolls left on his desk. Always on the same topic, resurrection or rebirth, clues she wanted him to look into to see if there was a way to bring her back. As of yet they didn't have anything concrete to go on, bringing the dead back was actually pretty easy in this world of wizards and sorcerers. But to bring Death to a living form was just a huge oxymoron, it just didn't seem possible.
But he wasn't going to give up he thought, turning back and heading into his study. He sat in his big red chair with a soft sigh, not much had changed around here expect for more hints of western colony culture. Their mother was from those lands, and he wanted his kids to see exactly what she loved so much from there. His palace had doors now instead of sliding panels, they had glass windows now instead of shutters and one of his favorite changes, they had risen beds instead of futons on the floor. Sesshomaru had a lot of the rooms remodeled as soon as Kagome died, it kept him busy and kept her memory fresh. He did get some criticism over it about not staying traditional, but he quickly shut anyone who had anything to say up. He ruled his land with a firm fist and was not about to take anyone's crap, he thought picking up a scroll, continuing his paperwork.
The day was going by smoothly and Sesshomaru found himself working at a calm pace. The days he got a sense of Kagome nearby always put him in a better mood. He glanced up at the vase of lavenders on his table, something his eldest daughter Rin always found the time to replace. Kagome was right in her assumption about the spark of a Miko in the human girl, by the next summer on a trip to see Shippo, Rin powers exploded inside her when the carriage was attacked by demon bandits.
Akito was with her at the time, and he literally had to dive over the bridge they were crossing to avoid the blast of purity that escaped the girl. Immediately after that Sesshomaru sent her to train with the old priestess all the way up until she passed away. Her powers were much like Kagome's which made him suspicious, that and plus her eye color was slowly changing and she wasn't aging properly. She seemed to be growing in reverse dog years, she looked the same age of Shippo who could pass as 21 in human years, though she was in her 60's. Her chocolate-colored eyes would grow lighter and lighter the stronger her powers got. Now they were somewhere between caramel and beige.
She knew the lavenders on his desk was important to him, a memory crossed his mind of Kagome when she was still early in her pregnancy. While he was doing paperwork she would sit on the edge of his desk, eating a bowl of ice cream. In nothing but one of his kimono tops and white panties. He remembered just watching her cross her legs, lick her lips before taking the first spoon full.
He would always smirk at the cute yet seductive scene, knowing exactly what the attention hogger wanted. He blinked, the memory fading as there was a knock on his door, Hampton entered without waiting for an answer, " Yo Ses."
Sesshomaru looked up, Kagome had everyone that was close to him calling him that now, even Lord Suki of the South and Lord Lemin of the North. " What?"
The delicious tiger demon sat on the comfortable black recliner, a half-smile on his face. The tiger demon was the general to the western army and the closest friend to the lord. His long black hair was in a low yet attractive ponytail, a bright orange strip framing his handsome face. Matching the cross swords marking on his forehead, complimenting his tanned skin, two strips of orange on only one cheek, the unsymmetrical marking making him more distinguished and handsome.
He was tall, his shoulders broad and rippling with muscles, his green eyes deep and sparkling. He wore the colors of the west; his kimono was white with a blue crescent moon on the back and smaller crescent moons on his sleeves and shoulder. He was wearing black sashinuki hakama and comfortable black boots. Though he had armor he didn't wear it in the palace just his one sword under his red.
" So, the Matsuri festival is tonight in the village, and everyone is expecting a surprise pop up from their favorite demon lord."
Sesshomaru frowned, he already knew the celebration of the good harvest this season was tonight, and he also knew he wasn't going. " I'm busy."
Hampton frowned, " Paperwork can wait for one-night Ses."
Amber eyes stared at said scrolls on his desk, " There is too much to be done tonight."
The tiger demon just sighed, " You know Kagome would want you to go."
Sesshomaru glanced up to his best friend, eyes narrowed, " Don't."
Hampton just leaned back in his seat, the inu didn't like Kagome's name even mentioned to him, " Fine, then what do you want to do tonight with everyone at the festival?"
Sesshomaru went back to his paperwork, " You go, I'll be right here."
Hampton frowned, " Ses..."
" It's fine Hampton. I'm fine." the inu said, cutting him off. He knew his friend was just worried about him.
Green eyes stared at the demon for a long moment, he was concerned because he didn't get out often, all he did was take care of his lands and his kids. And you know what they say about all work and no play. " Are you sure?" he finally mumbled.
Sesshomaru again glanced up to his friend and nodded, " Why don't you bring Asarak to the festival?"
Hampton made a face, shaking his head, " Nah, I'm done with that girl, she keeps nagging me about babies and mating and wants me to get a bigger place."
Sesshomaru leaned back in his comfortable chair, " If you would have taken the offer of Lord of the East, you would have a bigger place."
When the last Lord of the East, a black inu and distant cousin to Lord Sesshomaru ruled the lands, he ended up partnering with some very bad people trying to take the west and his mate from the white inu. In the end Hyde was turned human and banished from here, after that the remaining three lords decided to take a candidate from each of their homes and vote for a new lord. Someone they all trusted, Lord Suki had chosen one of his advisers, Lord Lemin had chosen his most trusted friend and general and Lord Sesshomaru had chosen Hampton who immediately said hell no to the proposal. So Now Tahoe, a dragon demon and the North's former general was the new Lord of the East.
Hampton smirked, " I don't want any responsibility."
Sesshomaru smirked, he sounded like a certain miko he knew, " You're going to have to settle down eventually."
Hampton just shrugged a shoulder, " I'll settle down when it involves becoming your new stepfather."
Sesshomaru was tempted to roll his eyes, his best friend had the largest crush on his mother and was not ashamed to admit it. " Maybe you'll meet someone at the festival."
Hampton sighed, " Maybe, maybe not, I'm not looking, but if it happens it happens."
Seshomaru agreed to the simple logic, he glanced down to his desk, " It will happen when you least expect it."
Hampton grinned, he knew the inu was telling the truth through experience, meeting his mate Kagome was not a love at first sight story. She was actually an assassin sent to kill him and almost succeeded if it wasn't for his bodyguard. Speaking of the arctic fox, " I think I might set Akito up with Asarak, they might hit it off."
Sesshomaru raised a brow, " What makes you think they would like each other?"
The tiger demon laughed, " It's simple, they both fight with spears, what can make a better connection then that."
Sesshomaru just shook his head at his friend, " You need help."
" And you need to come out tonight." Hampton countered with.
" I told you I'm busy."
He just sighed, standing, " Okay, okay, I can take a hint. I'll leave you to your paperwork." Hampton said, opening the wooden door, " But I will check on you before I leave."
Sesshomaru frowned, " I'm not a baby." he mumbled.
Hampton just laughed at the face his friend was making, he knew he hated being called young or little, " Well I am two hours older than you, so you are a baby to me."
The tiger demon laughed as Sesshomaru glared at him, closing the door behind him as he left. Sesshomaru was tempted to drag the tiger to the dojo and show him how much of a baby his was but decided against it. He'll get his revenge on his friend later, right now, he really did have a lot of paperwork to get through.
Kagome was walking through the forest at a lazy pace, upset the last disturbance was yet another Cipher. She has really grown to hate those damn pests, but she wasn't as annoyed as usual, probably because of her day off. It was nice that Hades and her dad would give her a little free time, even if it was just to attend some God's welcoming party. Hades did usually drag her along to those things, so it wasn't a surprise. He didn't particularly like gods though he was one himself and he didn't like NOT being the center of attention.
Kagome smiled, personally she just thought he went to stir up trouble because he knew it was going to piss the other gods off. But she didn't mind going, meeting gods was kind of fun, and the food was always delicious. Blue eyes glanced around, she found herself in the West and decided to stop by her home before the next disturbance buzzed at her ear.
Sometimes she debated with herself with her random pop ups to the West. She didn't want to be the cause of a disturbance, but she didn't get these quiet moments often. Shifting into her shadow she glided through the demon's village at the base of the palace. It seems to have expanded a bit she realized, noticing there were a few more houses and shops than before. Over the wall and in the gardens, she immediately went to her favorite spot. She still loved just sitting under the oak tree and gazing up at the bright sky. She glanced over to the strawberry bush and wished she could have one of the delicious fruits. Barking caught her attention, standing, she glided even further into the gardens tracking the noise. Standing beside an oak tree, she smiled, watching her three children running wild in their demon form. It still amazed her that they were full demon, her blood is so difficult to label she wasn't sure what they would be. She watched as they shifted into their human forms and just relaxed on the soft grass. If she could cry, she would, they were getting so big and they all were so beautiful. She wanted to hold them so badly, to tell them how much she loved them. She was sure people told them about her and her current situation, she could only hope they didn't hate or fear the fact that she was now Death. She hoped they would understand that this was not her choice but the destiny that she had to follow. She felt a power push against her own and glanced up, the sword of life was sending her a warning to not come any closer. Kagome smiled, seeing Sesshomaru standing on his balcony, staring directly at the tree she was behind. He smirked and she knew if her heart was still beating it would have tripled in tempo. She stared, bathing in his beauty before he finally turned and headed back inside.
Badly she wanted to go to him, just to talk to him again but she couldn't. Tensiega was a sword made from the Gods, it possessed a conscious and knew of the rules. It was a Keeper of fate, and it knew she was not to interfere with Sesshomaru's destiny. The sword of life would not let her close enough unless it was the right time, everything had to be done in a specific way when it came to gods. She sighed at that last thought, feeling her ear began to buzz, with a sad frown she took one more look at her babies and turned away. Duty calls.
