It was all Elena could do to not roll her eyes at Barry as he rants about how " God would never approve of this deviant behavior". The only thing going through mind the entire time was the gorgeous lady whom she had met the night prior at an adoption meeting at the town recreation center. Elena and Barry considered adopting since conceiving wasn't in the cards for them, but after running into this beautiful woman, she doesn't know if adopting with Barry is an option. Elena has never been infatuated by a woman before. She was raised by a strict Hindu father, and a Catholic mom; being gay was never an option or thought. Though, Elena wouldn't consider herself "gay", she has never had an attraction to another female until she met Peyton.
Peyton Lombard; a writer by trade, and agoraphobic. It hasn't been long since her 6 year marriage ended, but it was for the best it did. She and her partner Margaret were going to adopt, but once Peyton's mom got sick Margaret bailed on her. Peyton still wanted to pursue adoption, hence why she was at the meeting. Was it luck or fate that drew Elena and Peyton together?
Once the meeting was done, Elena was looking for her car keys. Peyton approached her and handed her a set of keys and explained she grabbed the wrong ones by mistake. It was then when they first spoke together that Elena felt the first flutter in her belly; she wouldn't admit it right away though. They talked and exchanged business cards, Elena explained hers was old, but the number is still good. Elena is a photographer; though she hasn't done a lot lately due to Barry keeping her busy with church stuff. Both of them part ways for the evening.
Elena's close friend, Tyler, who is a love guru is hosting a gathering to help people find their soulmates. Peyton's best friend, Wave, drags her out to it. Peyton is hesitant, but ends up going. Lucky for her she does, because she runs into Elena again. Peyton and Elena sit down and chat with one another; time flies by and Elena has to leave, explaining that her husband has an early sermon. Peyton looks at her quizzically, Elena explains Barry is a pastor. At this point Peyton thought this was the end of them connecting, but little does she know that Elena secretly wants her too.
As a last chance to connect to Elena, Peyton calls her to get some photography advice; it was more of an excuse for them to see each other again. Elena jumped to the idea, and they made arrangements to meet the next day.
They greet each other with a hug, and then sat down on the park bench to "discuss" ideas. Peyton looked through Elena's portfolio and was in awe at what she saw. The one that caught her eye was a partially nude photo, but Peyton didn't know who it was at first. Elena explained it was her. Peyton wanted her more after hearing that. Shortly after that Elena received a text message and she had to leave, but not before making plans to see each other the next day.
Elena arrives at Peyton's house around noon the next day, and Elena notices Peyton's book on the table. After a brief conversation about it, Elena offers to take a new office photo of her as a gift. It was just an excuse to see her again. As Peyton sits down on the stool, Elena sets up her camera. Peyton is watching Elena closely; she is so drawn in by her beauty. Elena finished setting up and walked over to Peyton, Peyton's heart was going a mile a minute. Elena brushed the hair out of Peyton's face with her soft hand. Peyton felt something, not just the butterflies in her belly; something deeper than that. She was doing her best to control the urge to take Elena right then and there. Elena backed up to grab the camera, and soon after she started taking photos. Elena stood close enough where Peyton slowly rubbed her finger up and down Elena's leg. Elena wanted to climb on top of her so badly, but she had to fight back the urge. Soon after the two ladies were done with the photo shoot. Elena said she will get back to her in a couple days when they are developed. Having to wait to see each other was brutal for both of them.
It has been almost a week since the photos were taken, Elena has finally got them developed. She decides to go by Peyton's to show them to her. Peyton is out back by the pool when Elena rings the door bell. Peyton answers it, and to her surprise it's Elena. Elena apologizes for not calling; she really wanted to show them, and it was a reason to come see Peyton. Peyton invites Elena in so they can look at the photographs. As Peyton is flipping through them, she can't believe how amazingly talented this beautiful woman is. It was at this point where Peyton lays her heart on the line; which is a big deal for considering she suffers from agoraphobia. She expresses to Elena the feelings she has for her; she was sure Elena was going to run for the door. Elena then expressed that she has feelings too. Peyton felt like a weight was lifted off of her, and she was incredibly happy the feelings were mutual. Though, neither one initiated yet because there was one problem standing in the way, his name is Barry. Elena needed to figure out what she was going to do.
A few weeks went by; both Peyton and Elena haven't seen each other, but they have exchanged text messages and phone calls. Those weren't enough anymore. Elena knocks on Peyton's door, but Peyton wasn't expecting anyone. No sooner Peyton opens the door, Elena walks in and pushes Peyton up against the wall and that was it. Elena comments how Peyton feels soft like velvet on her lips. Peyton swings Elena around, so now Elena is pinned. They slowly make their way over to the couch, hands are exploring and caressing. Elena slowly moves her hands around Peyton's well-toned body; she has never explored another womans body before, so this is all new. Peyton is letting her explore. After about 20 minutes, both Peyton and Elena stop. Elena wanted to hold off on having sex until she could figure things out. Peyton wanted her so badly, but also wanted to respect her wishes.
