This deals with sensitive subjects about death
.
You're right Kaachan. I'll never be a hero. I've found something better. Ahead is Tenya Mechanics and Midoriya's second home. A purple-haired man stepped outside as a garage door noisily opened. The comforting scents of lavender and cedar wood drenches the air. Izuku walked over, a heartwarming smile lifting his blank frown.
.
Hitoshi kissed his boyfriend passionately, pulling him into a side hug as they parted and walked around the shop. "Iida just redesigned the frame and updated parts for our car. Want to take it for a spin?"
Izuku's eyes shine. "You think it'll go faster this time?"
Extracting keys from a pocket, Shinsou jangled them. "Only one way to find out."
"When's our next race?"
"In two days."
.
After years of torment from his bullies and being deprecated by his hero, All Might, Izuku discarded his dreams of becoming a superhero. He lost all trust in society. Forever quirkless, he was deemed substandard and worthless. The heartache from such a bitter reality still hurts but it waned when Izuku found Shinsou –and his other friends. Midoriya had found a new devotion: street racing.
.
Iida's older brother, who had been a pro hero, got attacked by some villains. Tensei almost didn't survive. He recovered but his wounds were permanent. Now in a wheelchair his quirk was rendered useless. The authorities never caught the villains. Iida became cynical of superheroes and left UA. The brothers opened up a shop, repairing vehicles by day and attending street races at night.
.
These competitions aren't ordinary street races. People build intense and crafty race tracks. Izuku is a driver; every driver has to be quirkless. Shinsou is his partner, and people with quirks could use any tricks they wanted to win, within the rules of course. Killing opponents was excluded. Iida and Tensei are the mechanics. Healers are also stationed and watched the races on standby.
.
Jumping into the car Izuku started the engine. The ferocious roar and rumble of the car's engine is extraordinary. Neon lights blurred as they speed past and tunes blast from the radio. Green and purple hair thrashes around in the wind. Izuku knows this is the closest thing to flying that he could ever reach.
.
Shinsou, usually a nonchalant person, throws his arms up and shouted. It's a heart pounding sensation. Their stomachs are giddy as they drive down empty streets; it's the freest they've ever felt. Here in his car, Izuku finally has control over things in his life.
.
Morning's glaring gold light seeped through the murky horizon when they returned to Tenya Mechanics. Izuku exited the vehicle and Shinsou climbed over to the driver's seat. "I'll take it back. Meet me at the house and we'll all go for milkshakes. How's that sound?"
"Great, actually."
Hitoshi drove away. Midoriya smiled happily. I'm so lucky to have you guys…
.
"Hey! What're you doing?! Who are you?!" Tensei hurriedly followed a person who had abruptly entered his house (right next to his shop). The stranger carelessly threw tools and furniture aside, breaking most of it, as he plodded through to the garage. A broken door hangs from the hinges. Startled and hearing the deafening ringing of tools being hurled, Izuku ran around the corner to see what was going on.
.
"I'm a new pro hero dumbass! Where's that dopey green-haired Deku?!"
Kaachan?!
"What kind of pro hero breaks into someone's house?! Get out of here! Or I'll call the police to-"
Katsuki quickly turned around, glaring menacingly at Tensei. His smile is unapologetically selfish. "Yeah? And what? What're you going to do? You're just some retired pro hero. And worthless now. Tell me where Deku is before I destroy more of your shit."
.
Tensei's face is overshadowed with hurt. His dreams too were violently taken from his grasp. The hero had sacrificed so much for society and what does he get in return? Another pro hero's insults and antagonism? Humanity's uncaring indifference? Tensei's gaze hardened. "I don't know who you're looking for."
.
Bakugo yanked Tensei up by his shirt collar as the wheel chair toppled over. "I saw his things in the house! Where's Deku?!"
"Katsuki."
The man paused, staring at the distance in shock veiled by anger, as if in disbelief before facing Izuku with a scowl. Midoriya saw that he wasn't wearing his pro hero outfit and instead had plain clothes. Maybe it'd be too noticeable if a hero dressed in their costume broke into people's houses.
"Let Tensei go."
.
Wordlessly Bakugo dropped him. Midoriya helped Tensei back into the wheel chair. He gave Izuku a worried glance before leaving. I'm calling the police. Pro hero or not, this guy is crazy!
.
"So," Katsuki chuckled. "You've been hiding here all these years? What a dump. It fits you."
Always so sweet aren't you, Kaachan? Izuku crossed his arms. "What do you want? Why'd you damage property and hurt my friend?" His bully didn't search for him just to brag did he? Bakugo has plenty of awards and fame from his hero work. So why did he come back when they hadn't talked in years? Shouldn't Bakugo have forgotten me by now? Since I was so insignificant to him.
.
Bakugo struggled for words. Do you still admire me like you did then? Why are your eyes so cold?
"You already said everything all those years ago. I remember. Do you? You won, Bakugo. You have everything I wanted. Was it not enough I jumped, like you told me to?"
He stared, shocked.
.
He knows Deku is strongminded but Katsuki didn't think Izuku would ever fight back. When they were still in school, applying for UA, he was shocked that Izuku had survived. He had returned to school with a permanently injured arm and a scarred face. Midoriya did get into UA but dropped out after a year. No one knew it was because Bakugo bullied Izuku. He was a nerd. Quirkless and not flashy. So no one cared. But everyone loved Bakugo.
.
Deep down Bakugo knows he didn't search for Izuku to apologize. It's laughable if anyone believed that he would. He came back because he expected Izuku's dedication and praise. Bakugo needed it.
But why? Deku is a quirkless loser! And Bakugo has a girlfriend.
Well, he did have one. Uraraka Ochaco dumped him for some faceless villain. Surprisingly, Katsuki wasn't as mad as he thought he'd be.
.
Why does my heart feel like it's going to burst out of my chest?! Was fate mocking him now? Eyes glinting wildly, Bakugo shouted and lunged at Izuku.
Midoriya's sharp awareness and wits never waned so he read Bakugo's attacks easily. Leaping aside, Izuku's knuckles flashed across Katsuki's jaw.
Stumbling from the punch, Bakugo recovered and tackled Deku.
.
"Pathetic weaklings like you so desperately try to prove your worth! It's all useless! Quirkless are meant to be unimportant!"
He's crazy! What is Kaachan even talking about?! It's not like I outshine him.
Heavy punches are thrown and hit Izuku's gut. He retches from the impact.
"There's nothing extraordinary about you, Deku!"
Midoriya blocked by raising his arm. He got up and pushed Katsuki with a quick kick and a painful punch. Bakugo is hurled overhead and lands clumsily on the ground.
"You're a plus ultra jerk, Katsuki!" An explosion scorches Izuku's good arm but he ignored the pain to attack. A foot squarely hits Katsuki's shoulder, sending him stumbling.
Why isn't Kaachan using his quirk more? Back at UA he always used it recklessly.
.
"Midoriya!" Shinsou hugged his boyfriend and glared at Bakugo warily. So this is the guy who bullied his own friend?
Katsuki returned an equally resentful glare. He realizes that he loves Deku. Would things have been different if I had told him that? Would…would Izuku have loved me? Bakugo Katsuki fell in love with Izuku Midoriya. A quirkless man that represented everything he hated. Izuku Midoriya is Bakugo's fixation.
.
"Why are you here, Bakugo?!"
Silent. No answer. Bakugo recognizes Shinsou from UA. Another dropout. He knows about Shinsou's quirk and how it works.
Explosions appear in Bakugo's palms. He aims for Shinsou –sirens. A lot of them. Katsuki cursed. Smoke exchanged the explosions as he catapulted himself away from Tenya Mechanics. No one knows that Bakugo left the hero lifestyle to become a vigilante. He'd return again. Bakugo glanced hatefully at the pair before fleeing.
.
Hitoshi's beautiful eyes worriedly scanned Izuku's wounds. "Bakugo hurt you. I'm sorry I didn't make it here in time. He attacked Iida too."
Midoriya smiled. "It's okay."
"Why'd he come here?"
"I don't know."
Shinsou pointed to the shop where Tensei and Iida are. "C'mon. I'll bandage those injuries for you. Are you going to quit the race? We can, if you want. I don't want you driving if you're in too much pain."
"Never. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my time, Shinsou."
