Omake: A Similar Tale

There wasn't much to do out on the sea other than site watching. Yamato told him that it takes much longer for pirates to go from each island, which is probably why things are relatively straightforward for them.
They've taken a short vacation on traveling and found a nice Sky Island to rest at. It'll also ensure it's more problematic for the Beast Pirates pursuing them to know where they went.
"Hey, Izuku?" The horned woman looked at him peculiarly, "What was it like? ...In your world?"
"In my world?" He raised an eyebrow, remarking how enthusiastic she is.
"I'm going to be Kozuki Oden! And he wrote about so many of his journies in a book!" Yamato beamed and retrieved an empty book. "I want to write a story about...you."
"About me?"
She simply nodded her head rapidly, evidently passionate in doing so.
What brought this on?
Izuku knew how passionate she was with anything regarding Oden, but she should be writing about herself rather than him.
Seeing the man confused, the Oni princess decided to clarify.
"Oden wrote plenty about Roger, Whitebeard, and his family." Yamato looked down at the journal resting on her side, "It's obvious reading through it so many times...how much he cared about them."
The green-haired man watched closely as her gaze shifted to him.
"And you mean a lot to me, so I thought I'd do the same!" She smiled brightly, lighting up the room they were in.
Izuku's face reddened, not anticipating her to make that kind of argument. It seems being wet behind the ears with anything regarding girls was still a weak spot.
"How adorable," Nana stated, though everyone else in the mindscape is merely snickering. "You are so gullible."
He was getting teased on two-fonts, even if Yamato didn't exactly know that.
In truth, the hero didn't see the problem with her wanting to write down stories about him. It's something to be proud of considering All-Might has plenty of books about his heroic deeds.
"S-sure I don't mind," He said, trying to calm his emotions in check. "So w-where do I s-start?"
"From the beginning!" She grinned, leaning closer with vigor. "I want to know everything!"
Izuku didn't know what to think, seeing someone so keen to know about him. It honestly had the man feeling jittery inside.
"Everything huh..." The current user of OFA sat down cross-legged, knowing this was going to take a while. "Alright then, you ready?"
Yamato eagerly turned to the next open page and that was his queue to begin.
"It all started at a doctor's office..."
...
...
"Huh? You broke your bones punching a robot thing?" The oni princess noted as she continued to write.
"Umm...I didn't exactly understand how to control my power back then." He winced, knowing that this was just the first of many times. "It only came out as 100 or 0, nothing else."
"Why do I get the feeling you break them a lot?" Yamato queried, looking back at him.
Izuku only nervously chuckled in response.
...
...
"A big ugly monster was about to kill your teacher?!" Yamato gaped, quickly noting everything he said.
"Yeah, I know," The green-haired man scratched his head. "It shocked everyone."
It was one of the many times he feared for both his life and others.
"Then what?!" She straightened her back and bent across the table. "Did All-Might save the day?!"
Izuku looked up at her with a big smile on his face and Yamato beamed.
...
...
"One million percent..." She looked at him with starry eyes, "I didn't know that was possible!"
"It's more along the lines of me running on adrenaline," The man explained with a sigh, "I just...I just really wanted to save him..."
Kota was someone he knew had been hurting inside ever since his parents were killed. Izuku would never be able to live with himself if he'd let the boy die.
Yamato stared at her friend like he was a block of gold. Without hesitation, she leaped forward and buried him with a hug.
"You really are a hero! Oden would be proud! I know I am!"
He blushed deeply again...and the snickering within his mind continued.
...
...
"So that's when I knocked him back down." He explained as his companion was writing.
Without Eri he'd belong dead, that's for sure.
"That poor girl, being trapped alone..." Yamato's shoulder slumped, noting how similar the child was...to herself.
Izuku scooted to the horned woman's side.
"It's why I didn't hesitate..." He placed a hand on her shoulder and looked her directly in the eyes. "...saving you"
A moment of silence echoed throughout the room as Yamato felt her heart jump like a springboard.
Why was him saying that feels so...odd?
"Anyways," The hero snapped her out of those thoughts, "Let's continue."
"Oh...right!" Yamato quickly turned to a new fresh page.
She'll worry about those strange feelings later.
...
...
"You fought him and lost?"
"To prove that I'm worthy to him...and myself," Izuku stated, appearing somewhat embarrassed. "It was on impulse really."
Bakugo was someone who he looked up to, and fighting him would've shown how much progress he's made.
"He sounds like a control freak," Yamato commented, causing the hero to sigh.
"He mellowed out and got better," That was true, until Bakugo was ki-
"Focus," The first user stressed, focusing him to the task at hand.
He's right, getting sentimental will just cloud his mind.
"So where was I?" Izuku went into his thinking pose, "Oh! That's when All-Might showed up."
...
...
"So whilst we technically fended him off, people weren't happy with the heroes after all the destruction." He couldn't blame them really, considering the circumstances many of them were in. "The society was on the verge of collapsing."
She listened patiently, waiting for him to continue, and he did.
"My mind wasn't in the right place after that. I went on a spree of trying to do everything without the others..." The hero's head drooped, regret began to cloud his mind. "It was never enough..."
"Izuku..." Yamato didn't know what to say, but she wrapped her hands around his.
He smiled at the gesture.
"It's fine, I've had a lot of time to deal with it."
"The first step of healing is acknowledgment," En stated.
That was true, even if there's been a clear disconnect on his end.
"Is there anything else you want to talk about?" He asked and she grinned.
"Tell me more about All-Might!"
"Why am I not surprised," Nana shook her head with a chuckle, "Even in a different universe entirely, Toshinori still has a fan."
The Symbol of Peace's ghostly apparition just slightly turned it's head, as if it was embarrassed.
Izuku fervently pulled out his own journal and turned to his favorite page.
"Alright, let's start with his favorite food!"
...
...
Yamato continued writing as she listened to him talking. At some point, she'd asked him to slow down as he went on a muttering spree.
It was surreal hearing Izuku's story of heroism.
Oden would've loved to meet him, that's for sure!
Soon enough, after what felt like ages, they finally called it a night.
The green-haired man was already asleep as she opted to take the first watch, just incase anything happened.
Yamato reflected on their day.
Even after everything, his heart was so pure. She envied that kind of resilience, which is why she'll work much harder to ease his burden.
What interested her the most, however, was the similarities of their idols.
"Oden...All-Might..." She straightened her back, instantly coming to a realization, "He's...he's like me."
She adored the shogun just like he did with the Symbol of Peace.
No wonder why they clicked so easily!
She's glad there's someone just like her, being in Onigashima felt akin to prison.
He's done so much for so little, which made her feel a little guilty.
"How long has it been since I found you," It felt like a million years, and yet...Yamato wanted more.
Ah...there it was, those strange feelings again. This time though, she didn't disregard them, and turned towards her companion with the most genuine smile the woman ever sported.
"Thank you for being in my life, Izuku."
After they defeated her father...Yamato wouldn't mind traveling with him forever.
