An alarm blared, waking Liz up again. At least it wasn't 1 am, but 6 still wasn't a great time. It was her first day of school, try #2. Their last try was… not great… but at this point that was basically a month ago. In that time, Kid forced her and Patty to learn a morning routine which would get them all to school on time from now on, as if Liz and Patty were the reason they were so late before. Begrudgingly, Liz did start going through the motions.

The order was 1. Make your bed 2. Get dressed 3. Go eat breakfast etc. As Liz walked to do step three, she glimpsed into Patty's room. The bed was a mess. With a sigh, she continued to the kitchen. Patty wasn't even dressed, but she was eating the cereal that Kid bought them.

"Patty, you know Kid's going to yell at you if he sees you eating in PJs, or if he sees your bed."

"I know, but I don't get it- why do we have to make the blankets all straight if we're just going to sleep in them again? And my PJs are comfy."

Liz wasn't going to argue, Kid could do that just fine. She went to make a bowl of cereal for herself.

"Mornin' Kid," she heard.

Sure enough, Kid did join them, and oddly enough he didn't seem to have any reaction to his weapon's lack of readiness. He wasn't wearing his full suit either, just a white shirt and black pants.

Kid was silent for a second. "Good morning, Patty," he eventually said.

"Sis said that you're gonna yell at me."

"Um… D-do you want me to?"

"Sure!"

"Oh… kay…" Kid mumbled. "Patricia Thomson, your insubordination will be noted." He did raise his voice, but the tone and inflection remained emotionless.

Liz looked at her meister, putting down her cereal. "I thought it was a dream," she said under her breath. "So, Kid, how'd you sleep?" She asked him.

He coughed, then shrugged. "I, uh, didn't fall asleep again after our meeting."

"Really? What have you been doing for five hours?"

"Just kinda thinking."

She took a bite of her breakfast "About what?" Liz asked. She couldn't really think of something that would possibly keep an emotionless Kid occupied for five hours.

"I don't remember."

"Must have been real fun then. Do you want some cereal?" Kid usually didn't eat the sugar coated sugar-O's with them since he's not fond of sweet foods. Who knows, maybe his tastes changed too.

After glancing at the food in front of his two weapons, Kid shook his head. "No thank you."

Liz shrugged. It was worth a shot.

Since he wasn't going to eat anything, it didn't take long for Kid to grab what he needed and leave the kitchen again. Once he did, Patty looked up at Liz. "Hey Sis, do you think Kid's still acting weird because of the candles?" she asked. She didn't sound super concerned, but she didn't sound as overly cheerful as always either, so it was obvious she was probably thinking the effects just never went away.

"Yeah, but don't worry, he did sleep off the emotional blunting, but I gave him the candle again so he would stop worrying about 'uneven holding times'."

Patty smiled and happily went back to eating. "That's good! I hope he likes it~"

"I'm sure he does."

With that, they continued to get ready for the day, and it was the least stressful morning that any of them have had in years. Kid included.

When they arrived at the DWMA, to their surprise, four familiar faces were waiting for them. The same four that they saw on their first first day of school. Maka, Soul, Black Star, and Tsubaki. They seemed to be waiting for the three of them, but not to start a fight this time.

"Hi," Maka smiled. "I know your last day of school wasn't… the best… so I'm here if you ever have questions or want a tour or anything like that. And Soul-" She looked to her weapon partner.

He, in turn, looked at Kid. "I'm sorry I picked a fight with you last time. It wasn't cool. I won't do it again unless we're training or something. So are we cool?"

Staring blankly ahead, Kid was quiet for a second. "...uh… sure…"

"Well, I'm not sorry for anything!" Black Star boasted with a huge smile. "You shouldn't have been holding back if you didn't want to get pummeled by a star."

"What he meant to say was he really didn't mean to break the school and make you so upset. Can you forgive us?" Tsubaki asked.

Kid looked between the four, still quiet for a bit. "... uhhh… sure…..."

Clearly, Kid wasn't exactly in the right mind to really forgive someone, so Liz took it upon herself to do it for him. The four in front of them didn't know how much they made Kid cry during that month break, but they did seem to be regretful. Even Black Star. They really didn't seem like bad people, just idiots if anything. Of course, they wouldn't hang out or anything, but they're not enemies either. "Yeah, it's fine." Their answers seemed to satisfy the students. At least three of them. One looked concerned.

"Is Kid okay?" Maka asked. "He seems… different…"

"During his month away he started going to therapy," Liz lied.

Patty caught on quick and nodded. "Mhm. Now he doesn't mind symmetry anymore~ You can break as many of the school's spikes as you want!"

"...…. y-you still shouldn't do that…" Kid mumbled.

"He still cares about his dad's rules, but therapy has changed a lot," Liz added.

Maka looked between the three of them. She blinked, and her eyes gained the same blank look that Kid's had, but it was slightly different. "...so is 'therapy' helping?"

"Yeah."

That didn't seem to reassure her, but Liz didn't really think much of it. She obviously would know more about Kid than the person who's essentially a stranger. Before the conversation could go on, the bell rang out a loud DING DONG DEAD DONG. "Oh, that means class is starting in five minutes," Maka said. She smiled at them again. "I can show you to Crescent Moon if you want."

"Yes please~" Patty cooed. For as much time as Liz and Patty have spent in the DWMA, they never really figured out were anything but the bathrooms and the mirror room was, so having a tour guide wouldn't hurt. Kid knew his way around, but he didn't seem like the best person to ask.

The four kids started to walk to their class, Maka talking along the way about where different rooms were and the others mostly talking to each other about the big traveling market coming to Death City over the weekend.

They all got to the door before the second bell rang, and Stein was outside, cigarette in his mouth, waiting for them. A strange bag was behind him, but nobody paid that much mind. "Good morning Professor Stein~" Maka greeted as she went inside. The other three did their own forms of greetings, less enthusiastically than Maka, and followed to their seats. Liz and Patty were going to do the same, but Stein held out his hand, stopping the three.

Fear ran up Liz's body. Stein must have figured out they stole from him. He could give them parol bands again, or worse try to dissect them. At the moment he didn't seem to be doing either, he just stood silently, his eyes covered by a glare from his glasses.

DING DONG DEAD DONG the school rang again. Class had officially started and yet the teacher was still in the hallway, staring at three of his students. Finally he did something and turned to the doors. "Class, you have free time until I come back." With that, he closed the door, and looked back at the three, taking his cigarette out of his mouth. "So," he said, "how do you feel Kid?" Yeah, he definitely figured out they stole.

"...Fine…"

"What are you thinking about right now?"

"... Nothing really…"

"Hm… Interesting…" the glasses glare went away and it became clear that Stein shifted his gaze of Kid and onto the sisters. "What do you two think? Is he better this way?"

Patty was first to answer with a smile. "Yeah! He didn't get all upset about my PJs and didn't make me make the bed~ I wish he talked faster though."

"We were going to return your candle right away, but Kid needed it," Liz said.

Stein tilted his head, clearly just for show. "He needed it, you say. Did his emotions do nothing but torture him and make him worry about non-existent problems?"

Liz was genuinely surprised at how nonchalant Stein was being with the whole situation. Usually people disliked being robbed more. "Um, yeah."

"Well, if that's the case-" Stein grabbed the bag from behind him and handed it over to Liz. Inside were dozens of candles, identical to the ones that were in the room the day before. The professor smiled. "-then these should be of good use."

"You're not mad that I stole from you?" Patty asked.

"Not in this instance, no. You made my remedial lesson successful after all."

"Cool~"

The way that Stein said it made Liz uneasy. Then again, the way the mad scientist talked usually made her uneasy. "What do you mean by that?"

"The remedial lesson was supposed to make you three work better together and appreciate each other more. If the candle's effects makes all of you happier, then all of you would be better partners," Stein explained. Still, it seemed off, but Liz couldn't put her finger on why.

The professor opened the class doors before Liz could question further. "Follow me. We should probably start your second first day of school already."

Liz pulled the bag of candles closed and put it on her back like a backpack. "Yeah, okay."

A/N: The main four do appear again and do something I won't spoil, but they definitely aren't a very big focus in the fic. So, what did you think of this chapter? I'd love to hear your thoughts~ Also I wrote the a lot, so I lied in the first author's note, expect each chapter soonish. Unless I forget lol. Til next time!
