Super Disclaimer time:

Goes without saying, but as I don't want to get sued by lawyers at Disney, I do not own: Disney, its rides, Tokyo Disney or anything related to or associated with Disney. I used the Tokyo Disneyland map from the Disney website which can be found online.

I also don't own Ghost Hunt (by Fuyumi Ono) nor Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (by Izumi Tsubaki).

Their groups had met by pure chance while waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion ride in the 'Fantasyland' area. They had discovered that they had similar characters, even if there were slight age differences.

Yasuhara and Kashima were incorrigible flirts, with the best of intentions, and could pull off the most absurd of lines. Mikorin, while similar in behaviour, was unable to pull off flirty lines without, shortly afterwards, collapsing into a ball of pure embarrassment.

Monk and Hori were both fairly sensible, and had to deal with slightly annoying female counterparts; Ayako and Kashima respectively. They also bonded over their liking o

Seo had taken a particular liking to Masako and Ayako due to their 'no-nonsense' attitude at times.

It came with no surprise that the two fairly innocent men known as Wakamatsu and John became friends quickly.

Nozaki had taken to observing the group and the different dynamics that brought them all together. When he had discovered that the other group were, in short, ghost hunters, his mind began whizzing away at potential short stories he could write.

That left the two young women known as Mai Taniyama and Chiyo Sakura.. It was a known fact by their individual groups that both had terrible luck with the men they had chosen to fall in love with. In short, both men were dense.

One found it hard to believe that affection was directed at him, even when said directly. The other failed to realise that the confession received was of affection and not related to his work as a manga writer and artist.

The first had (basically) fled to England, cleverly avoiding any feelings towards Mai. The latter had given Sakura an autograph. Well, actually two.

The group had split into smaller groups as they all had different interests. Kashima, Yasuhara, Mikorin and Wakamatsu had escaped to Westernland and Adventureland.

"Sakura, do you mind if I take a walk around the park? I should be back in about an hour. I want to take pictures from different angles." Nozaki said to Sakura as they grabbed some nibbles from one of the booths.

Sakura looked at Nozaki, unaware that Mai was watching her with sympathy at the apparent internal struggle. To stay with her new friend, or go with the man she loved (who was oblivious to that). Eventually the opportunity to bond with a new friend won out. "Okay! We're going to stay in Fantasyland. We can meet at Toontown later!"

The two girls wandered around until they found an empty table and began exchanging stories about their line of work, and their life overall.

Sakura learned that Mai was a latent psychic and part-time 'ghost hunter', and Mai learned that Sakura was a Beta for the author of "Let's Fall in Love".

Sakura asked incredulously, "So you really go hunting ghosts? They're real?!"

"Yes they are! Unfortunately many are misunderstood. In my experience they've often become lost. Few are truly evil or have intentions of harming people. Hang on…isn't the author of Let's Fall in Love a woman?" Mai asked as she ate some of her ice cream.

Sakura laughed nervously, "Ehh… yeah that's actually Nozaki-kun. He writes under that pseudonym! You and your friends all seem so different. How did you meet?"

Mai thought back to her first meeting "Well… it all started when I became nosy and broke an expensive camera by accident, while causing one of our former colleagues to injure his leg while saving me from a falling bookshelf. The principal at my school had hired Shibuya Psychic Research which is also known as SPR, as well as a medium, a priest, a monk, and a Shinto priestess! I sort of became employed by SPR when I broke the camera… I had injured Naru's assistant so I took that role during part of the investigation. He's super "sciency" and researches everything from a scientific point of view so that the information and results are as clear as possible to the client"

Sakura gave a light-hearted laugh, "Wow! Talk about a group! Hmm, your boss's name is Naru? That's an odd name."

Mai turned slightly pink as she explained, "Oh! His name is …Kazuya Shibuya. Between us, his actual name is Oliver Davis but he kept that hidden for personal reasons. He's the biggest narcissist I've ever met, and decided to nickname him 'Naru the Narcissist!' You're not the only one who works with someone who uses a pseudonym."

The girls laughed at yet another absurd similarity.

"What about you? Do you all go to the same school?" Mai asked, thinking about the odd mix of personalities between Sakura and her friends.

"Yes, but that's not quite how we all met. I fell for Nozaki-kun shortly after meeting him at the entrance ceremony. We later met again after I confessed to him. It turned out that he's a manga writer. The rest of us came together along the way when we discovered who did certain parts of the manga, such as backgrounds and beta, which is basically filling in all of the dark areas. Not all of them help with the manga directly though. Kashima is the inspiration for Suzuki, and funnily enough Mikorin is the inspiration for Mamiko! Seo and I were friends before that though! We've been in the same class for a few years now."

They finished up their ice-cream and began to walk around Fantasyland, looking at the cheerful groups around each other.

"We haven't really known each other for long, only for about…" Sakura looked down at her watch, "two hours, but you kind of went dreamy eyed talking about him. Did he not want to come to Disney?"

Sakura suddenly regretted asking Mai that, as she watched Mai's expression drop from happy to neutral with a hint of sadness. "I'm sorry.. You don't need to answer that if you don't want to. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

Mai smiled at her, realising quickly how considerate Sakura was. "No, no. It's just a loaded question. It depends. Do you want the short version or the long angsty version?"

"Oh the long and angsty version, definitely! I have my own to share with you if you'd like to hear it." replied Sakura.

"Does it involve Nazuki-kun?" Mai asked knowingly. Her questioning was confirmed when Sakura turned red.

She mumbled, "Maybe…Okay yes. Yes it does."

Both girls laughed at their misfortunes with the men they had fallen in love with.

"So let me get this straight. Naru thought you had fallen in love with his dead twin brother who you only knew through dreams and always thought was Naru? Even when you tried making it clear, he still stayed in England without really remaining in touch? No - I know what you're going to say. Occasional gifts don't really count as staying in touch! Although I suppose for someone like him, it probably is…" Sakura said, after processing everything Mai had told her.

Mai nodded vigorously. "I try not to read too much into it though. I don't think he realises the depth of my feelings, and I don't think he cares for me in that way. I also don't know if I'll ever see him again. Everyone is telling me to maybe try and move on, especially with the time that has passed. At least you stand a fighting chance with Nozaki-kun!"

Sakura deadpanned. "You really think so? I confessed to him and received not just one autograph. I received two! I tried giving him chocolates on Valentine's Day. That was a disaster. I tried confessing for a third time, this time actually saying "I love you"... he misheard and replied 'I love fireworks too'."

The two girls burst into laughter at their misfortune again and, linking arms, decided to enjoy a few of the rides which had short lines before it was time to meet with the group.

All in all, the trip had been a complete success all around. Fun was had. Flirting and levels of embarrassment reached an all-time high between Kashima, Yasuhara and Mikorin.

Seo had dragged most of the group onto Splash Mountain, with the exception of Masako and John. They had been quite content to watch the group come out rather wet from the ride.

Nozaki-kun had dragged the group back to Fantasyland and had requested they do various poses so he could take pictures for references later on.

Wakamatsu had been spared Big Thunder Mountain by Monk and John who suggested they go to Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters. It was pure coincidence that this would be on the opposite side of the park to where Seo, Ayako and Masako were going to be.

Nozaki-kun had spent most of his time at the park wandering amongst the little groups whenever they split up to go on different rides and photograph their various reactions. He had also taken to Mai and had quickly recruited her to help Sakura with the 'research'. Not that she minded. The research ended up consisting of taking pictures of their friends, the rides, the overall structures, the food and the crowds of people.

By the end of the day, they had all ended up being 'thick as thieves' and had exchanged numbers with the full intent of staying in touch.

As the group began to disperse, Mai and Sakura locked eyes, grinned and simultaneously said "Good luck."

Final Author's Note

If you're still here with me, thank you for reading this pile of random thoughts! It was fun to write, although it does make me question my sanity after having dived back into fan-fic writing. It's also one of the first times in +15 years that I've attempted a cross-over.

I'm not sure how much it will make sense for people who haven't read the story I'm currently writing for Ghost Hunt, or for those who have never read/seen Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
