At Glargg's house, the chickens were doodling pictures. Starley had a beautiful field of flowers, Finley was drawing out plans for a new machine, and Chuck was trying his hardest to keep his drawing a secret.
"Chuck, may I see?" Starley asked.
"Alright…" Chuck sighed. "I just don't want anyone else to."
He showed it to Starley, trying to keep it from Finley's view.
"Aww, is that… SwaySway? That food delivery guy?" Starley asked.
"Yes, he's pretty cool for a delivery man. He does awesome stunts in the sky and says the best catchphrases! He's even a good fighter! He showed that when he saved me from a monster!" Chuck grinned with sparkly eyes. "I would love to be closer to him. Maybe he can even take me under his wing!"
"Aim high, brother. But don't aim for the impossible." Finley shrugged as he continued his plans.
"Don't listen to him." Starley put her hand on Chuck's shoulder. "I know he will notice you."
"No, he's right. I can't just go up to him and-" He noticed Starley typing something on her cellcone.
"There, I ordered some bread. Now he will come." Starley giggled.
"Starley! I don't look decent! I haven't practiced my catchphrases!" Chuck freaked out.
"Just be yourself." Starley said calmly. They then heard a rhythmic pitter patter on the door.
"It's him!" Chuck breathed heavily then hid behind his sister.
"Hey there." SwaySway waved as Buhdeuce stood next to him. "Where are your parents?"
"Technically he's here." Starley said. "But I wanted you to see my little brother." Starley put Chuck in front of her nervously, and waved a little.
"Hey, little buddy. Good to see you again." SwaySway ruffled Chuck's long stalk of feathers.
"Yeah… So… What would you like to do?" Chuck mumbled a little.
"Well, Buhdeuce and I were going to go camping…" SwaySway said apologetically.
"Can we come?" Starley asked.
"What?" Finley looked up, worried about the last time.
"Sure, but we have to ask your dad." SwaySway answered.
"We don't have a-" Starley covered Chuck's mouth.
"We will ask him right away!" Starley interrupted.
"Sure, just go get him." SwaySway smiled.
"He will let us, I know it!" Starley grinned.
"Glargg will not let you! If Glargg loses another student, the school year will be tough for everyone." Glargg growled.
"But Glargg…" Chuck smirked. "You probably had more than enough of us this break. Wouldn't you like some peace for a while? Eh?"
"Fine, you three can go. Those ducks seem trustworthy enough, since the tall one saved your life." Glargg sighed.
"Actually, I think I'll stay with you if that's okay." Finley shrugged nervously.
"Nah, you have fun with your siblings." Glargg gently pushed Finley forward towards the door. "The chickens can go with you."
"We will be back in the morning." SwaySway promised. "You three can go pack."
The chickens went to go packing, then Glargg tugged at the front of SwaySway's shirt. "If anything happens to any of them, Glargg will reduce you two to blobs of feathers!"
"Of course." SwaySway smiled nervously, Buhdeuce nodded too, but was slightly more nervous.
The three chickens went out with their bags packed. Starley glared and cleared her throat at Finley. Finley sighed and dumped out his big machine, she smiled while squinting cheerfully.
The four of them got inside the rocket van and they noticed a small green frog hopping around. Starley gasped and gave the creature a big hug.
"Aww, aren't you the cutest?!" Starley shouted in a baby voice.
"That's Jelly." Buhdeuce smiled at them. "And she sure is adorable."
"Can she share a tent with me?! PLEASE?!" Starley pleaded.
"As long as you take care of each other." Buhdeuce made them promise. Starley nodded, while Jelly panted with her tongue out in an innocent smile.
"Aww, we're roomies!" Starley grinned as she hugged Jelly tighter.
"So… SwaySway?" Chuck asked. "I think Finley and Buhdeuce want to share a tent."
"We do?" Finley asked. Chuck glanced at him. "Oh, yeah, that's right."
"Guess that leaves you and me, kid." SwaySway guessed as he looked down at the smaller bird.
"Yeah, I think it will work out." Chuck replied, trying to sound matter of fact.
About an hour of searching for an area to camp in, they settled for the middle of Tree City. The six of them set up campfires.
"Perfect for spooky stories." SwaySway grinned.
"Huh?" Chuck shuddered.
"How about One Eyed-" SwaySway was about to say.
"No!" Buhdeuce scolded.
"Breadf-" SwaySway was cut off again.
"Don't even think about it!" Buhdeuce warned.
"How about the Tunnel of Fear. It's nowhere near here." SwaySway asked. Buhdeuce was about to say something but nodded.
"So, Jelly wandered into the tunnel and we went after her." SwaySway told the story. "And then… When we thought we were free, she was possessed and we realized we were trapped, never to be heard from again!"
Chuck clucked scaredly and laid an egg.
"Huh?" SwaySway asked. "What's this?
"Oh, must be a pebble." Chuck tossed the egg away.
"For a moment there I thought you were scared." SwaySway said, slightly gently.
"Nah, I was just thrilled." Chuck chuckled.
"Well, I don't know about you, but remembering that story made me a little tired." Buhdeuce yawned. "Hope I don't have nightmares again…"
"Wait! If you were trapped forever, how are you here?!" Finley questioned.
"Oh, the Bread Maker saved us." SwaySway yawned. "I will tell you about him tomorrow…"
The six of them went into their three tents together as promised.
"Jenny Quackles." SwaySway whispered in his sleep as he was tucked under his sleeping bag.
Chuck got inside of his own bag, worried about what would happen.
"What if… What if my worst fear comes true… But I have so many… But SwaySway… He's not afraid of anything." Chuck yawned and fell asleep. "Maybe I just need some rest…"
That night Chuck woke up and saw a bunch of large shadows
"Smells like… chicken." One whispered. "Would taste so good fried."
"Someone help me!" Chuck clucked, SwaySway came up behind him. "SwaySway! Thank goodness!"
"Are you… Afraid?" SwaySway asked emotionlessly.
"No… Yes…" Chuck sighed.
"I have no respect for scared little chickens!" SwaySway glared at him with glowing eyes. Chuck began shrinking and SwaySway pointed and laughed at him, then the rest of the campers came and were much bigger than him as well. They laughed at him too, becoming louder and louder. The ground crumbled underneath Chuck and he fell into the black void.
"NOOO!" Chuck woke up with a start, SwaySway was still snoring while hugging and drooling on a pillow.
"It's okay, Chuck. Just don't show any fear, you can prove to him you're no chicken." Chuck tried to breathe, then he sunk back into his sleeping bag.
