Sam and Dean had defeated Lucifer without any of the people that they cared about getting hurt much. Everyone had few minor cuts and bruises but nothing more then that.

Dean saw that Sam was quite after the battle. It was Sam who mustered the courage to kill the devil with the archangel blade that Gabriel gave to them.

At first Dean thought that Sam had been hurt because standing so close to the devil and killing him must have hurt his brother somehow.

But Cas said that Sam was physically fine. It relieved Dean a little bit but what Dean didn't know was that emotionally, Sam was not fine at all.

They were at Bobby's while Cas and Gabriel took care of the other demons and angels that actively participated in making the apocalypse happen.

After a week since the apocalypse had been averted, one night Dean couldn't sleep because of the fact that he still didn't believe that they had killed the devil.

He was about to go to sleep when he heard some shuffling from the other bed. He heard someone's footsteps going out. He looked and saw that Sam had took off in the middle of the night.

He decided to follow his brother, because he seriously needed to talk to his brother. Something was bothering Sam and he knew it deep down that his brother night be physically perfect, but emotionally he wasn't doing too good.

He followed Sam downstairs and saw that his brother had an alcohol bottle with him. Dean was surprised that Sam was drinking alcohol. It genuinely surprised him as Sam was always careful of his health.

Sam sat at the floor of Bobby's house and was staring at the night sky. He kept drinking and didn't notice Dean coming downstairs. Dean quietly sat beside Sam and also started at the night.

The sky was filled with stars and moon shining brightly. Dean knew that Sam was exhibiting signs of depression. Dean realized that Sam needed him here and he was so busy in celebrating their win that he didn't notice that his brother needed him.

Dean heard some sniffles and he couldn't wait anymore. He immediately wrapped a hand around his brother and Sam leaned into his brother's arms. Sam clinged to Dean like he was drowning. For the FIRST time in a long time, Sam cried hard in his brother's comfort.

Watching Sam cry his heart out, Dean couldn't help but also shed a few tears. He tightened his hold on his baby brother. "It's okay Sammy, I'm here now" Dean said and Sam cried his hearts out. The feeling of worthlessness, guilt of starting the apocalypse, betraying his brother, all the feelings that Sam felt for over a year was now finally being released.

Dean made a promise to himself again that he would start taking care of his brother, again. The kid still needed his brother and he was going to give the kid what he wants.
