Amelia thought Edward Cullen was probably interested in me. "You remember Spencer? That weird guy who followed you around in middle school for like two weeks?"

I did. He had been horrifically awkward, the sort of intrusive cryptid that 12-year-old girls hate. We called him Ninja because he would hang out under trees waiting for me to come by, slipping out of the shadows like a weird knock-off vampire. He obviously thought he was the main character.

"Yeah?"

"Well, Edward might be a Spencer."

I threw my head back and groaned. "No. Don't even put that on me. Unfair."

"Just tell him you don't date men," Amelia said.

"I don't date anybody," I said. "Plus, they have four churches here."

"Isn't it like 10 people and a bunch of sheep?" Amelia asked.

"It's too small for 4 churches. And we have some goats."

"I am sure."

Amelia told me she had to go because Mama Sandy wanted her to set the table. I moaned a bit and then said to call me when dinner was done. She said it was Family Movie night.

"Fine, be like that," I said. "Love ya bestie."

"Love ya."

Amelia hung up.
