Summary: Miyako brings Poromon home for the very first time.
Miyako cracked the door open carefully, keeping Poromon tucked up under her shirt, and hoping that no one else was there.
"Mom? Dad? Anyone else?" When no answers came she crept further into the room, eyes darting this way and that. Slowly she started to relax.
"Miyako-san? Is everything all right?" Poromon peeked his head up to peer at her. "Is this your home?" He looked around, eyes large and fascinated. "It's quite impressive."
She rubbed the back of her head. "It's not that much." She always hoped to have more room to spread out when she got older. For that matter, she wasn't too thrilled about having to share with one more entity - though Poromon wasn't that big so probably wouldn't take up much space. It would be manageable - she hoped.
He wriggled out more and flapped, managing to stay in the air. "So where is your room? Do you have anything to eat?"
"Just a second!" Miyako hurried to the kitchen and started to put together a quick snack. One thing Hikari had impressed on her was that Digimon ate a lot, especially when they were in this stage. So soon she had a little meal ready for him and offered it. "Is this enough?"
She'd barely finished the question before Poromon chewed up the last of it, swallowed a little more, then burped briefly. "Is there anymore?"
"Uh - just a second - again." Miyako returned to the refrigerator, hunting for things that she knew the family wasn't going to miss and that she hoped Poromon would be able to eat safely. As far as she'd been told, Digimon could eat almost anything. So far that seemed very true.
Three meals later, Poromon curled up on her lap and dozed off. Miyako stared down at him, expression softening, and rested one hand on his soft feathers. He's my partner. I have a Digimon partner.
Before a couple of days earlier, she'd barely known what Digimon were in the first place. She recalled that strange day when she'd sent a lot of e-mails to help someone that she now knew were Taichi-san and Yamato-san. She'd heard about what happened in Odaiba three years earlier, but that was it, at least until now.
Now Digimon were going to be a major part of her life forever. Poromon - Hawkmon - Holsmon - that was her partner. Iori had a partner, too. She had new friends. Izumi-sempai was a Chosen as well. There was an evil brat kid tryinig to take over an entire world and it was up to them to stop him.
In just a couple of days, everything had changed, and she had no real idea of how to deal with any of it. But she would manage. There wasn't much else that she could do - this was a responsibility. Someone had to do it, and it looked like she was one of those who had the job.
Carefully she carried Poromon into her bedroom and set up a little basket before tucking him into it. That would do for a bed - unless he somehow evolved while he was here. Which she kind of hoped he wouldn't. It would be hard enough keeping him from the rest of the family like this.
But she would do it. Poromon was her partner, and she'd do her best for him, always.
The End
Notes: Seriously, with five other people in the household, how did she keep him hidden?
