I do not own The Wolf Among Us.

Chapter two: Say my name.

"Just Say her name in the Mirror five time and She will appear." Said Colon. "…I'll think about it." Bigby said hesitantly. There was an awkward silence for a moment. "Hey Bigby. You mind If I stay here tonight? It's a long walk back to the farm." Colon asked hopefully. "Alright Colon. You can stay, but take the bed. I like my chair." Said Bigby. Bigby's apartment had a bedroom but he never used it. He didn't know why but for some reason he preferred sleeping sitting instead of laying down.

"Thanks Bigby. And… Thanks for not making me stay on the farm." Colon said thankfully. "You're welcome Colon." Bigby said with a smile. Colon finished lapping up his beer before heading to the bedroom door. Having no hands he used his mouth to turn the knob before heading inside and shutting the door behind him.

Once Colon was out of the room Bigby just sat in his chair for a good ten minutes as he pondered what to do. What if he said her name and she didn't show up? What if Mary was truly dead? Deep down Bigby hoped not. What if she did show up? Would it start a fight? What if Colon was right and Mary was afraid of him? Would she be scared if she saw him? Bigby didn't want to be feared anymore.

After sitting there for a good long while Bigby got up and walked into the bathroom and turned on the light as he made his way over to the mirror and sighed as he placed his hands on the edges of the sink before turning to look at his reflection in the mirror. "…Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary." Bigby repeated over and over.

Bigby turned around and began looking around the room but found no signs of Mary. Bigby sighed as he rubbed his face and felt the guilt wash over him. "Well… I guess she truly is dead." Bigby said regretfully before shutting off the light and walking back to the living room. To his surprise he found Mary laying sound asleep sprawled out across his chair.

"Mary…" Bigby muttered breathlessly. She looked so peaceful like this. Bigby gulped as he looked at her. She must have been sleeping when he said her name in the mirror and that must be why she was asleep now. He was thankful that she didn't sleep naked. Like him she seemed to sleep in her normal clothes.

Bigby knew that he had to wake her up. He couldn't just let her sleep there. With another nervous gulp Bigby slowly reached over and tapped her on the shoulder a few times. "Huh?" Mary mumbled as she began to stir. Her eyes slowly opened before widening in horror. "NO! NOOO! Stay away from me!" Marry cried in terror as she shot up out the chair and pushed Bigby away before making a brake for the closest mirror.

"Mary wait!" Bigby shouted as he grabbed ahold of her arm. Mary quickly turned around and punched him in the face, causing him to stagger back as she tried to run away again. Bigby rushed forward and grabbed ahold of her as he pinned her with her face against the wall. "Mary stop!" Bigby pleaded. "What, so you can finish the job?" Marry said as she struggled in his grasp before smashing the back of her head into his face. Bigby staggered back again as he held his bloodied nose. Before running after her again.

Mary made a brake for the bathroom knowing that all bathrooms had to have mirrors right? Mary managed to reach the bathroom but before she got the chance to enter the mirror Bigby grabbed her and pinned her against the bathroom wall as he led his arm against her throat. "Mary stop!" Bigby growled. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry, ok!? Please just don't kill me! Please!" Mary pleaded as tears began streaming down her cheeks.

Bigby was confused and unsure of what to do. He never imagined that she would be this afraid of him. Bigby let her go and watched as Mary crumpled into shivering, crying ball of fear as she held herself as she sat crying on the floor in front of him. Bigby pondered on what to do for a while before finally settling on a response. "I forgive you you know?" Bigby said as he turned away and began walking out the room.

Mary stopped shivering as she froze to watch as Bigby simply walked out to the living room. Mary couldn't believe her ears. They must be lying to her. This must be some sort of a trick. Any minute he would come back into the room in his wolf form and tear her apart. Against her better judgement Mary wiped her eyes and got up before fallowing Bigby. Mary didn't believe that Bigby actually forgave her, but deep down she found that she hoped what she heard was correct. That simple hope warmed her cold heart like it hadn't been warmed in centuries.

Mary peeked her head out the bathroom to find Bigby sitting in his chair. He seemed to be staring off into space at first but after a moment turned to look her in the eyes. To her surprise his eyes lacked any sort of malice. Instead he seemed to look at her as a person rather than the enemy who once intended to kill him.

Mary hesitantly and somewhat timidly stepped out of the bathroom ash she approached him, stopping somewhere in the middle of the room. "Is it true, what you said?" Mary asked sounding like a hopeful little girl. Bigby was surprised at the innocence of her question. But perhaps he shouldn't be too surprised. Mary naturally had an innocent looking face. Too bad she knew how to make it look psycho.

Before Bigby had the chance to respond to the question the bedroom door opened as Colon stepped out. "Well shit… You did it." Colon said with awed surprise as he stepped into the room. "Whoa, whose the pig?" Mary asked with surprise. "That's Mr. Pig to you." Said Colon. "Mary this is Colon. Colon, this is Mary." Bigby said introducing them.

"Umm… Hi." Mary said somewhat nervously as she was still unsure about this awkward situation. "How do you do?" Colon asked with a bow. "Colon could you give us a minute?" Asked Bigby. "Oh come on, things are just getting exciting." Colon complained. "Colon." Bigby growled. "Alright, alright. Geesh…" Colon said before going back into the bedroom and shutting the door.

Once Colon was out of sight Mary turned her attention back to Bigby. "He seems… Nice." Mary said awkwardly. "Colon is a character but I have known him longer then probably anyone else." Bigby said with a smile. "…So… Where do we stand?" Mary asked hesitantly. "What do you mean?" Asked Bigby. "What do you mean what do I mean? I know damn well you didn't just say that you forgave me!" Shouted Mary.

Bigby turned away as he sat in thought. Mary took this as conformation that he hadn't forgiven her. "That's what I thought..." Mary said sadly as she turned and began to walk back to the bathroom. "I thought I hated you… I really did. But when it came time to fight you I found that I didn't really want to." Bigby said distantly as he looked down at the floor.

Mary stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him curiously before her lips turned up in a small amused smile. "Yea, I guess I kind of noticed that. Even when I insulted your mother, you weren't the one to strike first." Mary said as she recalled the memory. Bigby than turned to look Mary in the eye as he sat hunched over in his chair. "I thought you were dead Mary." Bigby said with concern.

"Well, I came close. Luckily I was able to reform myself enough out of the remaining shards of glass and get away before they through the rest of the pieces down the witching well." Mary said as she walked over and leaned against the wall as she crossed her arms. They just looked at each other for a moment in awkward silence before Mary let out a sigh. "You know I wasn't always like this." Mary said as she slumped down and sat on the floor.

"What do you mean?" Asked Bigby. "…I used to be a sweet girl. Back when I was… A mundi." Mary said painfully. "You were a mundi?" Bigby asked with surprise. Mary looked at him and nodded before looking away. There was an awkward silence before Mary began to speak again. "Did you know that I was once a bride? The happiest day of my life. But It was just a lie. The bastard only wanted me because he knew my family had money. That night, after the wedding… Instead of making love to me… He smashed my face through the mirror in our bedroom and used the shards to slit my throat, than through my body down a well…" Mary said painfully as a single tear rolled down her cheek.

"Mary… That's terrible." Bigby said with concern. "Save it wolf. I don't need your charity." Mary said bitterly after whipping the tear from her cheek. "Than why did you even bother telling me in the first place?" Bigby asked with some irritation. "I just needed to get it off my chest… Who am I kidding? Of course he just wanted me for my money. I'm not beautiful like all the other girls. Like Cinderella, Beauty, and that bitch of yours Snow fucking White!" Mary spat with hatred as she looked at him with what was one of her more usual psychotic looks.

Bigby looked away for a moment. He was never really good with women. He had no idea how to compliment them or make them feel pretty. Bigby some times wondered if he had known how to come on to Snow if things would have gone differently between them. "…Actually things aren't so great between me and Snow." Bigby said distantly as rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh? What happened?" Mary asked in a taunting voice.

"I guess after the whole Crooked Man incident Snow hates me because she doesn't like how I handled it." Said Bigby. Mary chuckled darkly. "Is that what you think Bigby? It doesn't matter what you done or could have done, the outcome is the same either way. You're the same thing now to Snow White as you have always been. Just some mangy mutt. Snow doesn't care about you any more than my husband cared about me." Mary said with an icy coldness.

"Oh yea? And how would you know?!" Bigby growled. Mary chuckled lightly. "I have power over mirrors. I can see everything wherever there is a mirror. Think about it Bigby, what is Snow White's power? To seduce and manipulate animals to do her will. You're just her dog. And you will only ever be just her dog. Bigby, did you think she really gave a fuck about you? It was all part of her act. And as soon as she needs you again she will start acting all sweet and kind to you again like nothing happened. " Mary said bitterly. As much as Bigby hated to admit it, what Mary was saying made a lot of sense.

Mary watched Bigby for a moment before standing up. "…Sorry to burst your bubble, just figured you should know." Mary said looking guilty as she held onto her arm and looked away before starting to walk back to the bathroom but stopped half way and turned back around. "If you ever need me, just say my name. I'll be there." Mary said before making her way back to the bathroom and vanishing through the mirror.

After Mary left Bigby just sat there thinking about what she had to say. It all made sense now. When he and Snow first met he had no idea what had brought him to that place. By all accounts he should have eaten her, considering who he was back then. But instead he freed her, for a reason he could never logically understand. And after that she disappeared without a trace, never to be seen again till she had another use for him. And now that she no longer had a current use for him she was cold and uncaring towards him. Mary was right. Bigby had always been under Snow's spell. He had only ever been just her dog...
