Chapter 3 A new Family
Sean was in the Jedi Temple Library looking over some history of the Order.
It's been a month since Sean and Korra along with her family left Earth after Zaheer and his group tried to take them by force but failed.
Now he, P'li, Ming-Hua and Ghazan were in special prisons designed to impair their abilities to keep them contained.
And there was speculation that Unalaq sent them but couldn't prove it since Zaheer and the others refused to speak.
Sean sighed as he finished another section.
"You've been coming in here for some time now young one." Madam Jocasta Nu said walking to him.
"I like to read." Sean said making her smile.
"Very true. At the rate your going you'll have a great knowledge of the order's past." Jocasta said.
"Kruger." Mace said getting his attention. "Let's go." Mace said as Sean rushed to him.
"Do we have to go to the Senate? I don't like Politics." Sean said making him chuckle.
"I don't think most of the Order does either. But it's a requirement with our relationship with the Republic." Mace said making him sigh.
"I don't even like the Republic that much." Sean said.
"Oh?" Mace asked.
"Too slow in making decisions and greedy Senators." Sean said.
"I can't fault you for that. The Republic has lost a great amount of it's respect to the Public since many speculate that Corporations run it now for their own gains. Perhaps a new Chancellor is required." Mace said as they left.
Later
Sean stood next to Mace as Chancellor Valurum went on about certain problems that could be easily fixed if he actually did something right.
"What a coward." Sean said.
"I see even a young one can agree on a true topic."
Sean turned seeing a man in his early 30's with auburn hair and blue eyes.
"Hi." Sean said making him smile.
"So, you're one of the first new Jedi from the planet Earth. I had heard many great things about you Avatar."
"He's not the Avatar. That would be Korra. This is Sean. He was found inside the Ebon Hawk with those from the days of the old Republic." Mace said.
"Ah, During a time when War was a constant. I had respect for those in that time. Allow me to introduce myself. Lieutenant governor Wilhuff Tarkin of Eriadu." Tarkin said.
"A pleasure. This is Sean Ashburn Kruger." Mace said.
"Nice to meet you." Sean said bowing making him smile.
"I see this one has manners. I assume the Avatar does as well?" Tarkin asked.
"Only when she wants to have them." Sean said making him chuckle.
After that everyone left.
"Tell me this Kruger. What is your impression on the Chancellor?" Tarkin asked.
"Not good enough. Easy to push around and no backbone to do whats right." Sean said.
"I agree. A government needs a strong leader in order to achieve it's goals. Though perhaps a time is drawing near for the end of the Republic for something far more grand and significant." Tarkin said.
"I hope it's not an empire. They rise and fall too much." Sean said getting his attention.
"Hmm. I hadn't thought of that but you're correct. Empires do indeed rise but in time they usually fall for so many reasons." Tarkin said. (Which is so true)
"Yup." Sean said before rushing off to Mace while Tarkin had a look of interest on his face.
Later
Sean was training to use the force with Master Oppo Rancisis.
"Very good." Rancisis said seeing Sean lift things with some difficulty.
"How does the force work?" Sean asked making him smile.
"The force binds the galaxy together. Makes us all connected to one another. But you must never go to the dark side. For it will corrupt you." Rancisis said.
"But...Don't the light and dark exist together?" Sean asked making him look surprised by this statement.
"Very true. Yes, light and dark are forever intertwined. One cannot exist without the other." Rancisis said.
"So why not learn to use both? To understand both sides?" Sean asked.
"It's...Actually I don't have an answer for that other than most have lost themselves to the Darkside." Rancisis said.
"Maybe because they didn't have a good enough reason to not be lost to it." Sean said surprising him.
"I keep forgetting how wise you are for you age. Hmm. Yes, perhaps most reasons Many do turn to the Darkside is because they didn't have a reason not to let it consume them. But with your father's holocron perhaps we can learn a way to make sure history never repeats anymore." Rancisis said.
"As exciting as I think that would be he's needed elsewhere." Qui-Gon said approaching them.
"Hmm?" Rancisis asked.
"Lieutenant Governor Tarkin has called for him for some kind of test. Wishes to see his skills with battle planning." Qui-Gon said.
"He's rather young for that isn't he?" Rancisis asked.
"If he were any other child I would agree. But you forget he's no ordinary child even by Jedi standards." Qui-Gon said as Sean left.
Later
"So what exactly is this?" Sean asked seeing some battle simulation hologram.
"Call it a test if you will. To see how far your knowledge goes. What I want to see is if you can think of a battle plan that determines victory. This is the first level. There are five in total. I want to see how far you progress." Tarkin said.
"I'm gonna assume there are surprises involved in these without telling me." Sean said making him grin.
"Perhaps there are. But thats up to you to find out and anticipate. Lets see how you do." Tarkin said showing the first simulation before Sean looked at the screen seeing the numbers he had and the terrain before grinning placing troops in certain positions before it began and got no casualties.
"Impressive. no casualties, You planned it out perfectly." Tarkin said.
"Level one is easy on purpose. Next one gets harder to push you." Sean said.
"Indeed. Lets see what you can do." Tarkin said showing the next simulation with tanks on the enemy side.
Sean looked carefully at all his options before placing his troops in positions before the simulation began before his side won once more.
"You placed mines where the tanks would go and then used ambush tactics to catch them by surprise." Tarkin said. "And once again no casualties."
"I like to keep the troops alive so they can use their skills and experience for the next battle." Sean said.
"Hmm." Tarkin said before the next simulation appeared and was much harder as Sean thought over his options carefully before placing troops where they were needed and the simulation started again before the enemy was once more defeated.
"This time however though there were causalities." Tarkin said.
"Not all battles can you avoid losing troops. Some are a necessary loss in order to win. But blindly charging in is foolish." Sean said.
"On that I agree. You must choose your tactics wisely in order to gain victory. Blindly going in with no tactics is foolish and unnecessary." Tarkin said as the next two simulations appeared as Sean chose his tactics carefully before both began before they ended with victory once more. "You don't seem disappointed that in the last one you lost 30% of your forces." Tarkin said.
"Not every battle can avoid death. Sometimes you have to lose your troops to win. As long as you don't sacrifice them causally as if they meant nothing." Sean said.
"Very true. You exceeded my expectations. I'm impressed. Not many people have skills such as yours at such a young age." Tarkin said.
"Yeah, well, I'm not exactly normal even by Jedi standards." Sean said.
"Indeed." Tarkin said.
Later
"You wish to adopt Sean into your family?" Mace asked Tarkin in surprise as he stood before the council.
"Yes, He has a great amount of skill and I wish to see it go beyond what it is now. Besides from what I understand you have changed a great amount of your code in the last month since they arrived." Tarkin said.
"On the Ebon Hawk Carth led us to an old holocron which held the true origins of the Jedi Code. The no Attachments and no emotions rule was implemented by someone who saw it as a weakness." Piel said.
"I see. Since the Avatar has her family I think it's only fair he receives a new one." Tarkin said as they looked at one another.
"Could you give us a moment?" Fisto asked as he left.
"I'm not so sure about this." Piel said.
"I don't see anything wrong with him being taken into a new family. One that holds a high position within the Galactic Republic. This could help him understand politics." Mundi said.
"But we will have to tell him the truth." Koth said.
"Yes, Bring him back." Mace said.
Soon he came back expecting an answer.
"We have talked about this and we will allow this adoption to go through." Mace said.
"Excellent." Tarkin said.
"However there are things you should know. Since like Korra he's far from an ordinary child even by Jedi Standards." Mundi said.
"Meaning?" Tarkin asked curious.
"What do you know about Jedi Masters Revan and Bastila?" Rancisis asked.
"A great amount actually. Revan was the one who defeated the Mandolorians during the days of the Old Republic before he went and became a Sith Lord with Malak. He was attacked by his former Apprentice and she saved him before using his knowledge to stop Malak and restore order. Why?" Tarkin asked.
"He's their son." Mace said surprising him.
"He's the son of Revan?" Tarkin asked.
"Yes. And he's far from normal by Jedi Standards. Hidden in his DNA is the DNA of every known sentient species within the Galaxy. All their strengths and none of their weaknesses." Mundi said.
"And his Mid-Cholrian count? I know how that works." Tarkin said.
"Mmm. High it is. Over a Million within him, there is." Yoda said surprising him.
"I can see why he's a valuable child within the order." Tarkin said. "But why hasn't this information been revealed?" Tarkin asked.
"Carth was under the impression that the Sith are still out there from the days of the old Republic and still looking for him. We're still unsure of thats true or not. So if you are going to adopt him you need to know this." Mace said.
"I understand and I give you my word his secret will not be revealed until the time is right." Tarkin said.
Weeks later
"This is boring." Korra said as they were at some fancy gathering for Nobles.
"I see Sean's description of your manners was accurate." Tarkin said making her pout while Sean chuckled.
"Told you." Sean said.
"Why are we even here?" Korra asked.
"It's important that you both understand these types of people." Tarkin said before spotting someone. "Ah, Thrawn." Tarkin said getting his attention.
"Governor Tarkin. It's been some time." Thrawn said. Thrawn was what was known Chiss from the planet which had blue skin and red eyes. "Ah, so this is the son you adopted." Thrawn said.
"Yes, This is Sean Ashburn Kruger. A rather gifted individual." Tarkin said before spotting a younger Chiss behind him about the same age as Sean. "I'm assuming this Selena?" Tarkin asked.
"Yes, this is my Niece. Her parents are gone for a while so I've been placed in charge of her." Thrawn said.
"Hi." Korra said waving.
"Hi." Selena said.
"Hopefully she's not energentic like someone is." Sean said making Korra glare while Selena giggled.
After that Sean, Korra and Selena were away from the adults as Sean read a data pad.
"So your the Avatar everyone is talking about?" Selena asked Korra.
"Yup." Korra said.
"But she still can't airbend." Sean teased making her glare while Selena laughed.
As Thrawn and Tarkin talked they were approached by someone they both despised.
"What do you want now Krennic?" Tarkin asked his old rival.
"I had heard you adopted a son not long ago." Krennic said.
"Thats none of your concern." Tarkin said glaring at him.
"Oh I just wanted you to know I had also adopted my own son as well. One that will put yours to shame." Krennic said.
"Hey!" Selena yelled as some boy about a couple years older pushed her back.
"Some son." Tarkin said unimpressed.
"His name is Malefor. And believe me he is far more superior than yours." Krennic said.
"So your the freaks from the Backwater planet Earth. I hope you enjoy your time in the Republic. Because soon you'll be sent back to that pathetic Planet." Malefor said making Korra glare while Sean was still reading his Datapad before looking up.
"Hmm? Sorry you say something?" Sean asked getting an annoyed look on his face while the girls laughed as the onlookers chuckled at this.
"Oh yes, my son is certainly put to shame by your's." Tarkin said amused as he frowned.
Malefor threw a punch which Sean caught before force pushing him into a table.
"Why don't you do everyone a favor and get lost." Sean said making him seethe before grabbing a knife and tried to stab him but Sean just used the force to hold him in the air before shaking his head before throwing him out the door with a yell as he flew into a wall out cold while his father went after him.
"What a loser." Korra said.
"He certainly handled that with little difficulty." Thrawn said.
"Sean is...Different compared to most children. As you will see in years to come." Tarkin said.
Authors Note: And with that Sean is now part of Tarkin's family. Better him than Krennic since Tarkin takes things seriously and Krennic acts like a damn spoiled brat like the one he just adopted.
