Hello everyone, I'm back with another story, brought to you once again by temporal king. This time based off birthright. So I had an epiphany (is that how the cool kids are saying it now a days) and realized that Birthright is a story that doesn't get a lot of fanfics based off it. Well here's my hope to fix that and maybe even learn something from it. Enjoy this one shot everyone.

He simply sat there, wallowing in his pain over what just happened. Corrin was tucked into his bed, his legs sore, body all bruised up, and his heart hurting. Though the heart break was what hurt the most.

As corrin sat in his dark room, crying his eyes out, he simply wondered how it all came to this.

It all happened back in the plains of Hoshida. The Nohrians had approached the boarder declaring war against his homeland, looking for a quick and easy victory. But what really shook corrin was Xander asking the young prince to join Nohr in their crusade. Suffice it to say, it didn't go well for Corrin.

"We're your family corrin!" Xander said sternly to the young prince atop his stead looking down on him. "Surely you cannot consider joining these Hoshidans?"

Corrin sighed "I'm sorry big brother. But I cannot I'm good conscience ally with a country ruled by a man who killed innocents. I must join the Hoshidans. My family."

"Corrin. Nohr has loved and raised you since you were a young lad. I have brought you up to be a confident swordsman you are today. Are you going to blindly throw all of that away, or time together, just to ally yourself with people you don't even know?" Xander asked, his face getting visibly angrier.

Corrin then looked around the field. Nohrians on one side. Camilla with a long protective smile and held her arms out for him. Elsie with her cheerful optimistic smile. And Leo, with his cocky but still warm smile at him.

He then looked back at Xander, who also smiled and held his hand out "Corrin. We may not have blood relations, but the bond we had will never be forgotten. We'll make it up to you, now join us."

Corrin then turned back to the other side of the field. Takumi with his distrustful face and visible anger. Hinoka who looked worried and scared of losing him again. And Sakura. Who looked like she was on the verge of tears. Looking back at Ryoma with his sword ready for a fight with the Nohrians, Corrin knew exactly what do say.

"I'm sorry big brother. But I cannot turn my back on my true family." Corrin said. "My homeland. My birthright. I must fight for Hoshido. No matter what."

Xander then got out his sword and pointed it at Corrin. "Then you have chosen the path of pain!" Xander dismounted from his horse and made a move to strike Corrin, but the Hoshidan prince luckily blocked it with his Yato. "I'm bringing you back to Nohr either one way or another!"

"Brother stop!" Corrin pleaded, but it was on deaf ears. All his siblings were watching with shock and worry as Xander kept attacking him repeatedly.

Strike after strike had hit Corrin's armor until eventually it managed the penetrate his armor and made him bleed. Kneeling on the floor, Corrin watched in heart break as Xander held his sword at him with an angry glare. Xander didn't just look mad. He looked pissed!

"Last chance Corrin! Join us, or die against us?" Xander made his final offer.

"No!" Corrin said. "I'd rather die than ally myself with a mad man like Garon. Or you!"

Xander narrowed his eyes as he swung his sword down. Corrin closed his eyes and readied got embrace death. To return to mother and father and be with again would better than this pain he was suffering. But he never felt it. Corrin opened his eyes and saw Ryoma using his katana against Xander's sword, using his strength to force Xander away.

"You may have a lot of strength. But you're nothing compared to a true swordmaster!" Ryoma gripped his katana and prepared for battle.

Hinoka and takumi took the time to help Corrin up on his feet while Sakura took her rod and healed him up. Looking at Xander with tears in his eyes, Corrin simply asked "why?"

"Yes, why?" Ryoma crossed his eyes at Xander. "Why would you willingly pick on a country that has done nothing of malice to you and attack your own kin. Answer that Xander!"

Xander, having been fed up with today's commotions, simply took a deep breath and sighed. "I figured you'd find out eventually Corrin." Xander then closed his eyes and explained everything. "We do what we need to do to survive. Nohr is basically lifeless, our crops barely yield enough to feed us, we're on the verge of collapsing. I might have taken no joy from this, but Nohr comes first. My family comes first. My father's order was absolute, the queen was to die and there was only one way to achieve it!"

Corrin's heart shattered at what he heard. "You were gonna let me die?!" Corrin asked with heartbreak.

"I had to! Nohr needs to conquer to survive. Our people starve and Hoshido has enough life for nohr to rebuild itself from the ground up. I'm sorry corrin! But it's just how it had to be." Xander explained.

"I've heard enough!" Ryoma said. "You die! NOW!!!"

The was the last thing corrin saw before passing out from shock. The next thing he knew, he was in a room not too far from the Hoshido capital with a low light. Apparently he was in fort Jinya, being healed up by several shrine maidens.

"Corrin, you're awake!" Corrin turned to look at Sakura who was at the door on the verge of tears.

"Sak-" corrin didn't even get the time to finish as Sakura lunged at him and wrapped her arms around him tightly, kissing his cheek several times.

"I thought I lost you!" Sakura cried. "I almost did, oni-Chan!"

"I'm sorry Sakura." Corrin sighed. "What happened?"

Sakura took the time to collect herself before smiling at Corrin. "Well after what Xander said, you passed out. He and Ryoma got into a duel and he beat Xander up pretty badly. The nohrians were forced to retreat. I've been stationed here to nurse you back and the other soldiers back to health."

"Thanks." Corrin sighed.

"Corrin are you okay?" Asked Sakura. "Do you need me to get me anything?"

"Yeah. A way to go back in time to stop that son of a butch Garon from killing father!" Corrin grumbled. "Maybe then, I wouldn't be experiencing so much pain."

"Oni-Chan, I didn't know you felt this way." Sakura sat down next to Corrin and wrapped her arm around his shoulder, leaning her head against said shoulder. "I'm so sorry."

"I was thinking, about what I went through. About all the pain I witnessed. What Garon had put me through. Why didn't Xander choose him over me? Why couldn't he help me?" Corrin voiced cracked. "Why did Xander have to attack me? Did those years mean nothing to him?"

"I don't know, oni-Chan." Sighed Sakura. "Sometimes when you cling onto something from the past, the truth will tend to hurt. That's what mother told me. Before she... well."

"Yeah. I know." Said corrin.

"Oni Chan. Don't take so much of a burden. No matter what I'll always be here for you." Sakura gave Corrin an adorable smile. "You're my big brother and as such, I'll stick with you no matter what. So if you want to cry. Go ahead."

Corrim finally let it out. Tears sprung from his eyes as started to cry in his hands, with Sakura running circles around his back in comfort. Sakura was right. A good cry was something he needed. Once his tears had dried out, Corrin sniffed and looked at Sakura.

"Thank you sister." Said corrin. "I guess it's time to move on and sends Hoshido." Corrin got up from his bed. "So what's the first order of business."

"Well while you were passed out, we managed to come across three of your friends from Nohr." Smiled Sakura. "Two of them said they are you retainers while the third is a knight who claimed to be your friend. We're keep a close eye on him but you're welcome to come judge him for yourself."

Corrin beamed with excitement. "Haha. Im glad Jacob and Felicia found me." Corrin then walked for the door. "Well let's go."

"Just a minute." Said Sakura. "I'll catch up with you in a bit. I need to do something first."

Corrin smiled before leaving the room, causing Sakura to reach towards her back pocket and take out a letter. More specifically, a letter from her mother Mikoto. Sighing, Sakura knew she couldn't tell Corrin the truth. At least not yet. "Soon, oni-Chan. Soon."

She smiled before putting the letter back in her pocket and leaving the room to catch up with Corrin.

(((0)))

Right now, corrin and the others had made a rest stop in Izumo, after saving their archduke Izana from the Nohrians, he offered them a place to stay and relax. But corrin could over what had happened.

Once again he had reunited with another bother. This time Leo. And although he tried to convince him to leave Nohr and join his side, it didn't end well resulting in the dark prince to leave. Corrin knew if someone as level headed as Leo refused to join him, then there was no way in hell Xander and Camilla would join his side either.

Currently, Corrin was standing in the balcony of the place, over looking the night time sky of Izumo and smiling at how far along he's been. While the pain of Xander's truth, and blade, still hurt, he found a new family amongst the hoshidans. It was hard getting along with some of them at first, like Saizo and Hana, but after a while they became good friends.

"Oni-Chan." Corrin turned to see Sakura walking right next to him to the balcony and smiling. "Shouldn't you be sleeping?"

"I'm fine Sakura." Corrin yawned at the worst time possible, making Sakura frown at him a little. "I'm just thinking."

"You should be sleeping, oni-chan." Sakura suggested with a smile. "We have a long match ahead of us."

All corrin could do was simply look at the sky a little more. "I've been doing a lot of thinking, about this war. And how much I could confront Leo. If I couldn't do that, who knows if I'll be able to confront Xander or Camilla."

"Oni-chan, I dread the day you have to do that too." Sakura said. "I don't like seeing violence. Or death. That's why I became a healer. To same lives. Not take them. But you. Since from a young age you were brought up to be a potential weapon of Nohr. It must be brutal." Sakura then made a move to hold Corrin's hand. "But no matter what, I'll be here for you. One step at a time."

Corrin then smiled. "We'll look at you. When I first met you, you were as shy as they came, and now here you are giving me advice. You've really come a long way, little sis."

"Thanks corrin." Sakura smiled. "You did bring out the best in me. In fact that's what got me to open up to you so easily. Mother said that she often could see into the future. And she knew what I would be going through at a time like this." Sakura then got out a letter and showed it to Corrin. "And that's why Mother gave me this letter. I figured it's time for you to know."

"Of course, let me read it." Corrin smiled.

Just as Sakura was about to give corrin her letter, a thought came in her head. A thought of dread. What if corrin rejected her. What if he took the letter so negatively that he'd go right back to Nohr leaving her behind. While Sakura wanted nothing more then to tell corrin her secret, she knew he wasn't ready for it. He wasn't ready to know the truth of himself. That he want actually Hoshidan royalty.

Placing the letter inside her pocket, Sakura sighed. "On second thought, I think you might need to wait till we reunite with Ryoma for this."

"Oh. Okay." Corrin smiled. "Well whatever it is, I'm sure it's something special. I can't wait to read it."

"I can't either, oni-Chan." Sakura then leaned her head on Corrin's shoulder.

The two simply stood there on the balcony and continued to watch the night sky while taking with eachother. And Sakura wished that night would ever end.

Well that was a good one. I realized Sakura doesn't have a lot of stories based off her, so I hoped writing this one shot will change that. Like Elise, I don't ship her with corrin since they both look twelve... why? So I left the ending ambiguous ok whether or not she'll tell Corrin the truth. You can interpret it as much as you want. Anyhow, hoped you enjoyed it and please leave a review.
