Gael and Dennis were both sitting at the dinner table of the building. Gael was having some avocado toast and Dennis was reading something on his phone. Dennis glanced up from his screen.
"You know, you really should try my avocado toast," Dennis suggested.
"Now that you mention it, how is it that I haven't yet," inquired Gael.
"I don't know, but we're gonna change that, soon."
They both chuckled. After a moment of silence, Gael spoke again.
"Hey, Dennis...what's it like raising a baby?"
Dennis took a moment to think before answering. Afraid that he upset Dennis by bringing up his deceased son, Gael retracted his question.
"Never mind. It was a stupid question," Gael said nervously.
"No, no. It's totally fine. You're having a baby; of course you have questions...it's...simultaneously the most difficult and most amazing thing you could ever experience. You'll be frustrated out of your mind a lot of the time, but you'll also find that you...wouldn't have it any other way."
Dennis looked off longingly.
"Wow, that...sounds amazing, man. Thank you, for sharing that with me."
"Hey, just be glad you don't have to experience the female part of the pregnancy and birth. If my ex was any indication, it's brutal," said Dennis.
Gael chuckled.
"Yeah, I suppose I should count my blessings when it comes to that."
"Although, if it was possible, I'd be more than happy to knock you up," Dennis stated unabashedly.
Gael could feel his face reddening.
"Oh, wow. You'd knock me up? Well, that's...flattering, and unexpected."
"Gael, let's be real here. You're...gorgeous. Any baby with your DNA is bound to be a winner."
Gael felt so embarrassed by Dennis' audacious compliments.
"Well, thanks, man," Gael said before chuckling.
"Just being honest. Now let me make you some real avocado toast."
