-Prologue-
-Reincarnated-
"For all those who have sacrificed their lives to defend our Nation! For all those who have toiled as slaves under your rule! For all our people who will never see the light of day again, this ends NOW!" The righteous scream of the Hero Albion rang through the Demon King's dark throne room. His golden hair and silver armor shining with the bright white flare of holy magic. The holy sword Excalibur blazed with a golden fire as it arced towards the demon king with immense speed.
This was the strongest attack of the Hero, Judgement Sword. It utilized almost all of the holy power of both the holy sword and the hero, but the power was immense. It was far beyond the ability of the Demon king to dodge or block. Even damage reflection wouldn't save him. This was truly the strength of a Hero. For just this moment, He could step into the realm of the Gods and smite his enemy completely.
The holy sword slashed through the Demon King's body, bisecting him completely.
The two halves of the Demon King fell to the ground and slowly faded out of existence.
The light had truly won.
[Congratulations on finishing the game on Hell Mode with 100% Completion]
[Game Over]
Letting out a long exhale, Clark Smith leaned back in his chair from the hunched over position in front of his computer screen he had been in for the past few hours. This was a monumental achievement for him, as he had tried his hardest for the past year to get 100% Completion and only now had achieved it after three days of nonstop gaming only interrupted to use the toilet and rest for a few hours of sleep.
The clock on the wall net to him read one in the morning
Sweat had fallen down from his forehead, and his red shirt was drenched with sweat from his intense concentration and stress. Picking up his facecloth from the desk beside him, he wiped the sweat from his face. He felt complete.
He felt satisfied, even so far as to say validated. It was silly to most people. To spend so long on an old fantasy RPG game from the late nineties that he found in a seedy thrift store but he did manage to complete it.
He would have to get some sleep soon. After all, he still had to work at the machine shop tomorrow, and being tired and clumsy could get your hand cut off by a machine or worse.
Bending down and reaching for the power button on his PC, he was stopped at the last moment by a ding from the speakers.
Sitting back up and looking at the screen. The image of the Demon King standing in his black plate armor with his arms crossed as the Hero lay dead at his feet next to a text box grabbed Clark's attention.
"Huh?" Clark asked no-one in particular. Was this a special event for 100% completion?
[ The Demon King offers you a chance of a lifetime. You can only chose this once]
[ Enable Demon King Mode?]
[ Yes / No ]
Demon King mode? Did this mean that he could play as the demon king? For a game from the nineties, that was a neat feature. To play as the bad guy would require him to adopt a different mindset. He was never a good villain, so being the final bad guy boss would be hard.
"Screw it, why not?" Clark laughed before clicking the Yes option.
However, while his mind could still play, his body needed rest, and sleep fell upon him.
Author's Note: Hello and thank you for reading the prologue. My goal with this story is to write the slow descent into villainy and madness of Clark as he realizes the evil things he will have to do.
Also, I'm sick of the isekai mc "demon kings" in manga and manhwa that act like antiheroes or basically good guys, just a bit edgier. I plan on bucking that trend and writing an actual Demon King.
Till next time.
