Types of Submissions:

We are looking for poetry, stories (fiction or nonfiction), and art (photography or drawings/paintings) for the class magazine. We will not be accepting screenplays or stage plays, any derivative materials (i.e. fanfiction), academic essays, or any type of video. Please do not submit previously published works.

Limits for pieces:

There is a word limit of 4,000 for stories and 40 lines for poetry. You can only submit one piece of work per category (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art, photography). Possible Trigger below so read with caution (it will be within the lines if you want to scroll past):

We will not be accepting any of the following things: graphic violence, discrimination, or erotica.

If you send anything that includes the things we are not accepting mentioned above, you will get an automatic rejection.

Email Format:

Put the title of the submission and the genre (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, art, photography) of it in the subject line. In the body of the email, attach a word document (no pdfs) of your submission if it is a writing or a jpeg if it is some sort of art, and add any trigger warning that applies to the piece. Add your pen name or what you would like the piece under in the body as well. If I know you personally or you are from UE, use a pen name to avoid bias. As a note: "With the use of name or pen name, try to use a personal email (preferably without your name in it) if you have one and are comfortable with it. As for what name you give us, you will be asked what name you would like to have associated with the piece in case you have a different one you want or change your mind if your piece is accepted."

Word Document Specifics:

Use a 12pt standard font (Times New Roman, Cambria, Ariel, Garamond, or anything like those but not anything fancy or Comic Sans). The document title should be the title of the piece, genre, and word count. As an example "Falling Rain, Fiction, 3030". The title should also be at the top of the word document along with the trigger warnings, however do not add your name as well (that is only in the email itself).

Deadline:

We are accepting works until October 24. Note: "We will try to get back to you as soon as possible, but we are a small magazine with minimal time as this is part of one of our classes at the moment.
