The sun was bright and shining over a small farm, a couple was seen tending to their rice patches.
"Pardon me, sir." the male farmer wearing some work clothing just looked up as he wiped some sweat off his forehead. Opening his eyes he saw Tanjiro and Sasuke who were currently looking around the farm. 'This reminds me of all the D Rank Missions, me and Naruto used to do...those were the only peaceful missions we ever got...after the trip to the Land of Waves. Everything just changed.' Sasuke thought.
"Would it be alright if I took that basket and some straw and bamboo?" Tanjiro asked as he pointed at the goods he wanted. "You're more than welcome, for all the good it'll do you. The basket's full of holes, though?"
"Thank you. I'll gladly pay you for it." Tanjiro offered "No, you don't have to do that. I don't need it anyway." the farmer shrugged back. "Please, I insist."
"No, it's fine. The same goes for the straw and bamboo." Tanjiro did not listen whatsoever. "Let me pay you!"
"I said it's fine, so just take it, you stubborn kid!" the man replied with a shout but Tanjiro just dug into his pocket as he took out some pennies and slapped them into the man's hand. "Take this small offering for your trouble, please!"
The next thing Sasuke knew he was carrying some bamboo as he ran side by side with Tanjiro who was carrying some straw and had the basket on his back. "And thanks a lot for your help!" Tanjiro shouted out as the man just shouted out in pain since Tanjiro sprained his wrist. "Gaah!" he shouted as the pennies went out of his hand. "You do know that he didn't want money right?" Sasuke questioned. "Yeah but my mom always told me to always leave an offering as thanks." Tanjiro tried to explain. "Yeah but your small offering has left the man with a sprained wrist." Tanjiro just had a tint of embarrassment. "Maybe I shouldn't have smacked the money into his hand."
Back in the mountains, the two went till they stopped in front of a small cave entrance. Sasuke and Tanjiro had put the material down as Tanjiro spoke. "Nezuko? Hey, Nezuko? Oh no! Sasuke, she's gone!" Tanjiro shouted out as he looked into the cave seeing nothing, "She can't be gone Tanjiro, remember when I told you that she has to stay out of sunlight, well today is a pretty sunny day."
"Yeah, but what if-" Tanjiro was cut off when he noticed a head pop out of the floor. "What the? Nezuko?! Oh thank kami, I found you." Tanjiro shouted in relief, "Hey Sasuke why did she dig a hole?" Tanjiro whispered as Sasuke shrugged. "How should I know," he stated back. "Great my sister's turning into a mole," Tanjiro stated as just then he stood up. "Hey, Sasuke can you help me out with this?"
"Sure."
Tanjiro and Sasuke went to make the basket for Nezuko and after a couple of minutes, they finished making it. "Nezuko?" Tanjiro went inside the cave as Sasuke stood outside, keeping watch. "You think you could fit in here? I want to try to keep moving during the day, too, but know I can carry you, okay?" Nezuko just grumbled "Can you fit? In here?" he pointed at the basket. "Bas-ket," he stated slowly as Sasuke spoke up, "She's not an idiot, Tanjiro I'm pretty sure being turned into a demon doesn't make her lose the basics of understanding a person," Sasuke spoke out. As Nezuko made a sound agreeing with Sasuke. "Oh-uh, sorry then Nezuko...it's just I wasn't sure if you could understand me."
"You could have just asked," Sasuke stated once more. Anyway made Nezuko, climb out of her hole as she tried to get into the basket head first but she didn't fit. "Hey uh, Nezuko. I've got an idea, do you think you could get smaller?" the next thing Sasuke and Tanjiro saw was Nezuko shifting from regular size to being a literal toddler size. She knocked the basket up as she had done this and Tanjiro was so happy about this. "Nice job, who's a good girl? You are, Nezuko. I'm impressed." he cooed as he patted his sister's head.
"Okay, Tanjiro stop, now your just treating her like a dog, if you want a dog this much I can get you one, just stop doing that," Sasuke said in annoyance. Tanjiro just chucked in embarrassment "S-sorry it's just I'm happy that's all."
The sun was beginning to set when Sasuke and Tanjiro were on a foot path."Mount Sagiri? If you boys really want to go there, the fastest way is over that mountain. But the son's about to set, and that luggage you're both hauling is going to slow you down. It's dangerous." the woman that Tanjiro and Sasuke had asked for directions stated as she held her son's hand.
"Please don't worry. We'll be careful and thank you for the directions." Tanjiro stated as he bowed in thanks. He and Sasuke began to walk towards the mountain, as Tanjiro carried Nezuko on her back, Sasuke just had his hands in his new coat's pockets. "A lot of people have been going missing on that mountain lately! Don't you get lost, okay?" the woman shouted in concern as Tanjiro just waved back.
The sun had now set as the moon was out, it wasn't full but it was a crescent, Nezuko had been released from the basket as she walked in the middle between Sasuke and Tanjiro, Sasuke was just keeping his guard up ever since that woman said that a lot of people had been going missing on this mountain so the last thing he wanted was to be one of those people.
Tanjiro just gasped as he stopped in his tracks. "What's wrong?" Sasuke asked, as Tanjiro just pointed up. Looking in the direction Sasuke saw a temple. "It's a temple, looks like the light's been left on, so somebody must be there, let's go and check it out." Tanjiro stated. "You two can go, I'll stay here and keep watch."
"Are you sure?" Tanjiro asked as Sasuke nodded. "Well then stay safe, for a minute, we'll be right back. Come on Nezuko." Tanjiro held his sister's hand as they ran up the stairs and out of Sasuke's sight.
'I wonder...' Sasuke gazed into the night. 'How is everything back in the Leaf? Did Naruto become Hokage...I'm pretty sure that dobe would have found a way to be a kage... which means the Leaf will really be desperate if Naruto becomes Hokage. I mean does he even know how to negotiate?' Sasuke thought to himself as he just chuckled seeing Naruto sitting behind the Hokage seat as he was busy gloating about reaching his dream.
'I hope you never change dobe.' Sasuke thought as an image of Naruto was in his head.
"Of course, I'll never change, Sasuke! My dream will be reached, Naruto the Hokage will be in history!" a voice of Naruto shouted out in his head, making Sasuke smile slightly.
*Crash!*
'What was that!' Sasuke thought as he looked up to the temple to see that it's door was now destroyed. "Aaah!" Tanjiro's voice echoed as just then Sasuke dashed up the stairs. When he reached the top he was surprised to see Tanjiro being pinned to the ground by a headless body. "What the? Tanjiro what did you do!" Sasuke shouted as he caught the boy's attention. "Sasuke. I didn't do anything, one moment I was pinned down then out of know where Nezuko kicked this demon's head clean off." Tanjiro explained as he pushed the headless body to the ground as he raised his back. 'So that's what a demon looks like...it's skin is so pale...just like that Leaf shinobi that replaced me...or even pale like Orochimaru.' Sasuke thought.
The body of the demon then tried to grab Tanjiro but much to his and Sasuke's shock, Nezuko kicked the body away as it tumbled to hit a tree with some force.
'Wait...that body just moved...without a head...this world is crazy... demons can move without the need of a head!' Sasuke was know exasperated to what he had just seen, this was literally the first time he had seen a living creature be able to move it's body without it's head. 'Wait...but the body needs the brain to operate. How in the hell did that thing move?' now that was a question even Sasuke needed an answer off. "You bastards!" the three's attention was caught by the demons decapitated head. "So there's three of you and not only that the girl is a demon after all? I couldn't tell without that weird vibe you were giving off! But what are you doing teaming up with humans?" the demon shouted out the question much to Tanjiro's shock.
"How are you still talking!" Tanjiro shouted out. "it's pretty simple, Tanjiro. I guess demons' physiology is way different to us humans. That will kind of make sense why this demon's still talking." Sasuke deduced, as just then his attention was caught by the body of the demon. It had jumped into the air to attack Tanjiro but Sasuke was just too quick.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" Tanjiro was shocked to see a torrent of flames engulf the demon's body, when the flames dissipated the body looked really damaged but still operatable. "What the hell! A human that can spit fire! Just what kind of group of weirdos are you three!" the demon shouted out as the body went after Nezuko. The girl couldn't fight the demon, she had no experience, so she got hit with some kicks and punches.
"Leave her alone!" Tanjiro grabbed his axe as he ran to Nezuko's aid. But he was stopped when he saw the demon's head had grown hands in its head as it was running towards him. It jumped to latch onto Tanjiro's face but the boy was too quick as he made the demon's teeth clutch onto the sharp side of his axe as the demon's hands grabbed his shoulders.
"Nezuko!" Tanjiro shouted as he looked at his sister getting kicked by the body. Tanjiro looked back at the demon and when it smirked with rage he flung the axe away as it embedded itself into a tree, with Nezuko when the body tried to go for another blow, it was deflected by Sasuke who had jumped in between Nezuko and the body. "Take on someone your own size!" Sasuke shouted as he smacked a paper bomb onto the demon's chest as he kicked it away. "Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!" when the explosion occurred Sasuke's fireballs added more damage as the body was blown away into the forest.
"That takes care of that," Sasuke muttered as he looked behind himself at the girl. "Are you alright?" Sasuke asked as the girl just nodded, "You've got something on your face." Sasuke dabbed his finger onto his tongue as he went to wipe some dust off the girl's face. Nezuko had a tint of red when this occurred and with Tanjiro and the demon, they both weren't sure what the hell was that. 'Just...who are these...guys.' the demon thought as he blacked out.
"Sa...Sasuke. You can breathe fire! What the hell was that paper thing?! I have so many questions right now." Tanjiro went on a rant as Sasuke sighed. "Tanjiro there's something I haven't told you. You see I'm a shinobi."
"Shinobi? NO WAY! Sasuke you're a ninja! That's so cool! I didn't know ninjas could breathe fire, but that explains why you have shuriken and kunai." Tanjiro stated as Sasuke nodded in approval.
"So what are we going to do with this demon?" Tanjiro changed the subject. "We can wake for the sun to rise." Sasuke replied as just then, the demon woke up and looked around. " Did I… Pass out? My body must've died… Oh, man. I am gonna be sick," the demon said as it's attention landed on Sasuke and Tanjiro. " You! I will flay the skin and flesh off of your bodies!" he shouted as he tried to grab Sasuke and Tanjiro but the axe held him back.
"So, you two aren't going to kill the demon? You're just going to try and wait for sunrise?" Sasuke turned around to the voice he had heard from behind him, he was shocked to see a red Tengu mask starring back at him. 'An old man...I didn't even hear him. Just who is this?' Sasuke thought.
"You both leak kindness and indecisiveness. So I guess instead of handling the pressure you are going to rely on the sun to make your decision." the old man stated seriously.
"Huh? Who..." Tanjiro was going to ask but he was stopped. "Even if you two wanted to kill the demon, those weapons of yours will not work, only special kinds of weapons can."
When Sasuke and Taniro listened to the man's lecture, a bright light caught the corner of Sasuke's right eye, looking over he saw the sun rising in the distance. 'Damn it! It's sunrise! Nezuko!' Sasuke realised as he remembered that the girl was a demon he looked to where the girl was only to see imaginary dots that traced the girl's outer layer, just then a figure caught the Uchiha's attention it was Nezuko. She was already running inside the temple rather quickly. Much to Sasuke's surprise his body made him quickly run into the temple as well, he helped Nezuko, settle inside the Bamboo Basket Case as he covered her head up.
"There you're safe from the sun." Sasuke told the girl. "I'll be right back, just stay here." he stood up as he walked outside to see the old man slap Tanjiro in the face. "Hey! What the hell are you doing?! You can't do that." Sasuke shouted as he ran to Tanjiro's aid.
"Sasuke, I was only asking Tanjiro what he would do if his sister killed a human and he didn't answer so know I want to ask you what will you do if she did so?"
"Simple, me and Tanjiro will make her vegetarian," Sasuke stated as Urokodaki had a tick mark. "This is not time to be a smart-ass!" he shouted as Sasuke received a bonk to the head. "Ow." Sasuke hissed. "You act as if you are one of those cool kids and what's worse I can see that you lack the ability to trust other people."
"What you two will need to do when your sister eats a human, you must kill her and slit open your bellies and die. That's what it means when you both are traveling with a demon like your sister. But you both must never allow this to happen, no matter the cost, your sister taking the life of an innocent person is the one thing that can't happen. Ever! Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes!" Tanjiro replied with haste as Sasuke just replied with the Uchiha Hmn. "Very well, I will test whether or not you both fit to become members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Carry your sister and follow me!" he told Tanjiro who went to fetch Nezuko as Sasuke helped the old man he found out he was the man that he and Tanjiro had to find Sakonji Urokodaki, after burying the dead bodies he asked a question. "Wait before we do this are we getting paid if we join this corp?" Sasuke asked since as a ninja he always got paid but now since he was in a new world he didn't have the Uchiha clan's treasury to back him up so now he needed money.
He just received a bonk to the head. "Stop with the useless questions, Sasuke!" Urokodaki shouted as Sasuke just rubbed his head. "Will you stop doing that! Do you know how long it takes to make my hair this spiky!"
"Number one it's spiky yes but it's soft? What kind of soap do you use?"
"Like I would tell you. You're busy abusing me."
"I'm not abusing you, I'm trying to reprimand you. Money should be the last thing in your thoughts. Now follow!" he stated as he saw that Tanjiro had returned, the man took off.
Sasuke raced after the old man while Tanjiro hot on his heels raced after his friend and old man. 'Hold on Nezuko. This might be a bumpy ride.' Tanjiro thought as he ran. Sasuke and Tanjiro chased after the old man for what seemed like hours, but just then Sasuke had enough as he went full speed catching up to the old man. "Good morning." Sasuke mocked with a smirk as he passed Urokodaki. 'Well he has been trained before, at such a speed...I think Giyuu is right that he is a shinobi. To speak the truth I've never trained a shinobi once in my life. I wonder what techniques he has learnt.' Urokodaki thought, with Tanjiro the morning sun was beating down on him very harshly, he was so tired right now but he could only push on.
-Scene Skip; Urokodaki Residence; Hours Later-
Sasuke leaned against the wall of his new sensei's house, he wiped the sweat of his face as he sighed. 'Damn it...I'm back to how weak I was as a genin, before the Genin Exams! Damn it Kami why have you forsaken me!' Sasuke thought in frustration since it wasn't fun to know that all those years of living around a guy like Orochimaru were now wasted.
Just then Sasuke saw that Tanjiro was literally on the ground as he breathed rather heavily. "If yo breath that hard your lungs will explode." Sasuke adviced the boy, who looked up. "How are you not tired after all that!" Tanjiro was shocked by this as Sasuke smirked.
"I'm an Uchiha, we Uchiha can't get tired from a simple sprint." Sasuke stated with pride. "Uchiha? What that?" Tanjiro asked.
"It's my clan. I come from a clan of Shinobi, Tanjiro."
"A clan of shinobi! Wow, Sasuke that's so cool, I don't think my clan were shinobi. Plus I never knew there we're shinobi clans."
"Even I didn't know that." Urokodaki added as he chimed in since this coversation was interesting. "Yes. You see this crest." Sasuke took of the coat Giyuu had given him as he turned around to show them the Uchiha fan. "This is the crest of my clan."
"Wow...it's so cool." Tanjiro stated "I wish my clan had a crest." he murmured. "I've never seen such a crest before." Urokodaki muttered to himself. "Say Sasuke I just remembered how did you breath fire back at the temple?"
"Fire?" Urokodaki was confused by this as Sasuke just spoke. "This is going to be a long story." Sasuke explained to the pair and they were really shocked by what they heard.
"Really, Sasuke! You're from another world and not onyl that you can use chakra! I thought it was just a bedtime story, people can atcually use chakra!" Tanjiro began to rant over and over about the things Sasuke had just told him, while Urokodaki could only think. 'Well this is interensting.'
"Well that's a very interesting world you come from Sasuke, but enough about your world we should start our training. Follow me, inside." Urokodaki said to the boys as he turned to his house the two followed Urokodaki inside his house as inside they took a look around the house and saw some Masks hanging on the far wall away from us on the left, they were traditional plastic animal masks and there were also a few Swords hanging under the masks. Sasuke just blinked at them in confusion of ehat exactly where these masks here for.
"Place your sister here. I will watch over her while you 2 are training," Urokodaki told Tanjiro, as Sasuke helped the boy place the basket on the ground and removed Nezuko from the basket, who was sleeping while this was happening. After they tucked her in Urokodaki said they were going to climb a mountain.
When they climbed up the mountain, Sasuke noticed that the higher they went the thinner the air got and sure his older body would have handled it but his body now was, how do you say this nicely...weak.
"Man… The air is pretty thin here. It's hard to breathe…" Tanjiro said as he looked at Sasuke. "Hmn." Sasuke replied as Tanjiro was confused. "Hey Sasuke what's up with the 'Hmn' sound is it a sort of code that you Uchiha speak to each other with?" Sasuke was shocked. "Tanjiro...you...you...you guessed my clan's way of speaking that easily...thank Kami you're smarter than that dobe called Naruto. Now I know I won't get a headache around you."
"Who's Naruto?" Tanjiro asked "Some dobe, who sadly is my friend and he's very annoying. He keeps on going on and on about wanting to be Hokage."
"Fire Shadow? What's that?"
"It's the leader of the village I sadly affiliate with the Hidden Leaf."
"The Hidden Leaf? Wait so it's hidden by leaves?"
"Well it's not hidden, hidden, if your like 15 miles away from the village you could probably see it if you are at a high vantage point."
"Ahem! Are you two done?" Urokodaki caught the two's attention "You two I want you to make it down the mountain. Arrive back at my house by sunrise and I will continue your training." Urokodaki explained as he just looked at the boys "Fail and I will not continue and send you on your way."
With that Urokodaki vanished into thin air with the mist. When the mist went away, Tanjiro looked around for the man as Sasuke scanned the area for the best route down the mountain. "Right now I wish I my body could handle a sunshin." Sasuke muttered to himself.
"Oh well. This'll be fun, later Tanjiro." Sasuke was going to leave. "Wait Sasuke since your a shinobi, you can just help me out can't you?"
"What would the point of this exercise be, see you at the bottom Tanjiro." with that Sasuke ran through the trees and much to his luck Urokodaki hadn't set traps for anyone who would run through the trees. The Uchiha could hear Tanjiro screaming in the distance as he fell into traps after traps. 'Maybe Is hould have helped him.' Sasuke thought at one moment. 'No. He needs to get stronger on his own, if he continues to rely on someone he'll become weak.' Sasuke thought as he continued to jump up the trees.
- Scene Skip; Daybreak; Urokodaki's Residence-
Tanjiro had a head wound, several bruises and cuts as he limped to Urokodaki's house he sighed in relief when he wisked the slide door open. He opened the door to the residence to see Sasuke a looking how he did when he ditched him back up the mountain.
"What the?! Sasuke you're already here and you have no bruises! Man being a shinobi is such a hack, you can just jump through trees like it's nothing." Tanjiro muttered as he panted with exhaustion.
"Don't worry now Tanjiro, I didn't know at the time that Sasuke here could just dodge all my traps by just going through the trees, from now on since Sasuke likes trees I'll make it harder for him in that section as for you your traps shall remain basic till it's time for change." Urokodaki stated as Tanjiro sighed. "At least that will keep it fare...now I'm going to sleep at the door since I'm really exhausted." Tanjiro fell down as he slept like a baby.
"Well he was tired."
"Yeah I guess he over-swept." Urokodaki stated with a chuckled as he looked at Sasuke who had a really face. "Don't you get it...over-swept since he's sleeping on the broom."
"Yeah I get it...nice uncle jokes Urokodaki-sensei." Sasuke stated with sarcasism only to receive a bonk to the head. "No sarcasm is allowed in this house! Sasuke!" the man shouted. "Ow! That hurt old man!"
"Well you deserve it." Urokodaki shouted back as he cleared his throat getting his compusure. "Well then Sasuke, I guess you and Tanjiro are now my students."
"Great." Sasuke replied as he received another bonk. "What did I say about sarcasm!"
"I wasn't being sarcastic to begin with!" Sasuke shouted "Well it sounded like sarcasm to me!"
Oh man well this is going to be a rather interesting training arc.
