Hello, and welcome to my first short story. I've been reading FanFiction since long before I should have even knew what fanfics were and finally thought I'd give an attempt at writing them. I used to be an avid writer, but I don't think I've truly written much of anything since my last college class almost a decade ago, so please bear that in mind. One of the reasons I've decided to write fanfic is because I want to get back into the swing of writing, so it might be a bit choppy at first.
I love these cliche little Granger family reunion type stories and so my first short story here will be my own attempt at one. Dramione, of course.

I don't own anything.
Chapter 1:
Hermione Jean Granger-Malfoy woke to the smell of pancakes and bacon tickling her nose. She opened her eyes with a soft smile and a yawn. The other side of the bed was still warm, indicating her husband must have gotten up not too long ago. She stretched her muscles out and happily looked at the ring on her finger.
Elegant and beautiful, the diamond was a nice size, but not audacious. Her husband knew that wouldn't want anything too gaudy or flashy, but it wouldn't have been in his nature to settle for something cheap. The ring held a nice sized diamond with a emeralds and rubies surrounding it. She couldn't believe it had been eight years since their marriage.
Hermione and her husband had started a secret friendship in their fourth year of Hogwarts. And by the time sixth year had come around it was a deep, lasting love. Of course things were never easy and her husband went undercover against the dark side. It was in large part of his efforts that the war was one. But it nearly broke her friendship with Harry and Ron.
That fateful day in the Malfoy manor, when Bellatrix cast the unforgivable on Hermione was the day that Draco let his true allegiances show. The second the curse fell from his aunts lips and he heard Hermione's agonized cry, he shot his own spell at his aunt. In the moment, everyone was too shocked to move and it gave Draco the precious moments he needed to grab Hermione. It was also the perfect diversion for Dobby to grab her best friends. There was chaos and fighting afterwards, but they managed to escape to Bill and Fleur's.
And that was when the truth came out. Harry and Ron were furious at the years of lying. And it took years before they were friendly with Draco, but they decided to push aside their differences to forge on in the war. On the day the battle ended and Voldemort was defeated, in a sea of cheers of victory and cries of loss, Draco got down on his knee and asked Hermione to marry him.
He had been without a ring at the time. They were bloody and bruised, with dirt and sweat upon them. And she said yes. In the midst of tragedy, she held on to that but of happiness. And six months later they were walking down the aisles of a quaint wedding.
It hadn't been an easy road. It took a lot of time for people to accept their relationship and to move on from the war, but together they were forging a new path and a nettle world.
Draco had become a healer, something that took time for people to accept and trust, but now he was quite well respected in the community. He also makes potions and sells them to the local apothecary. Hermione was working directly under Kingsley Shacklebolt and it was quite obvious to everyone that one day she would be the next minister of magic.
But despite their busy lives, Draco and Hermione always managed an excellent work/life balance, making time for each other, and their children. Even more madly in love than ever, the two couldn't keep their hands off each other and it had become a general rule to never just pop in on them.
Which is why, despite already having three children, Hermione and Draco had just found out she's three months along with another.
Scorpious was the oldest of the four at seven years old. The spitting image of his father and just as charming, with his mother's bossy, leadership personality. Hermione knew that, had Draco been giving the chance as a travel, he would have been just as Scorpious was. She still remembered the day he was born, the tears in her husband's eyes, and the promise to be a good father and not let his son's goodness be crushed.
Little Lyra came next, at five years old. They had been ecstatic to find out they were having another child, as neither of them had siblings. And especially to find out it was a girl. Draco hadn't stopped grinning for days after her birth. Though she still had the Malfoy blonde colored hair, everything else about her features was a mini Hermione. She was brave and feisty and, to her father's delight, had a love for quidditch and Draco was just itching to get her children's broom.
Altair was was three and blend of his parents. With brown, sleek hair and silver eyes he was an adorable and charming little boy. He was shyer than his other two siblings and loved to read his children books and play with their puppy. But he was inquisitive and the parents just knew that there was a mischievous little boy hidden there that would likely emerge when he and his cousin James got a little older.
It was too soon to tell what gender their next child was, but she and Draco were both hoping for another little girl to complete the family. Though as long as the baby was healthy it truly didn't matter.
Hermione stood up from her bed and pull her robe over her shoulders. She padded downstairs quietly to see her eldest son helping his father make breakfast, the muggle way, while her daughter sat on the countertop, chatting away happily and her youngest son was in Draco's arms, drifting off to sleep. She smiled wide at the picture, "good morning my loves," she said as she stepped into the kitchen.
Her husband turned around instantly, a beaming smile on his face. "Good morning my love," he carefully shifted the child in his arms and gave his wife a deep kiss. When they heard a resounding "yuck" coming from their children they parted with a laugh.
"And good morning to you as well," Hermione kissed each of her children on the head as Draco poured her a cup of coffee. She joined in helping her family make breakfast, a light affair with hugs, kisses, and laughter. They were just sitting down at the table when a peck at the window alerted them to an owl.
"It's my parents," Hermione said, a little perplexed. Though she had gotten them an owl for easier communication since they decided to stay in Australia, they had also gotten phones so rarely used the tawny bird. She stood up from the table and went to let the bird in. She set it up with some treats and water before grabbing the envelope. A confused frown etched onto her features.
"What is darling? Everything alright?" Draco asked as he stood up and moved towards her, immediately putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"It's a family reunion."
