Chapter 2:
Hermione hadn't seen her extended family since before she left for Hogwarts and she hadn't kept in touch throughout the years. She was quite sure her parents hadn't either.
From what she remembered of her father's family they were pleasant. Her grandparents hadn't approved of the marriage to her mother as she didn't come from a well off family. She remembered them being gruff, unfriendly, and judgmental. Her uncles weren't much better. They liked to talk down to her parents and herself, made rude jokes, and back handed passive aggressive compliments.
She had four cousins, two older and two younger, but all as equally vile. They would pick on her for how she looked and her love of reading and knowledge. Though Hermione could now admit she at times came across rude in her youth for her know it all attitude, she knew it didn't warrant the ruthless teasing and taunting from her cousins.
"My love we don't have to go unless you want to," Draco said. He stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her as they looked in the mirror. "But, if you do want to you know I'll be at your side every second. And you can show them what a beautiful, intelligent, successful woman you've become. You're not just a Granger now you're a Malfoy," he said with pride as he gave her a kiss on the neck.
His Slytherin ways had certainly rubbed off on her, and the thought of showing off her successful life, and husband, did make a very Malfoy smirk to grace her features. She had been going back and forth for weeks debating if she should go. Her parent had flown in n a few days ago and though they loved visiting with their daughter, son in law, and grandchildren, they were still a bit weary of the magical world and had opted to stay in a hotel instead of in their home. So Hermione wanted to spend as much time with them as she could.
"Yes, I am Malfoy aren't I?" She said with a smirk that made the blonde man proud. "And perhaps they've changed, I know I have." She couldn't help but look down at her arm the scarred word there. It had taken her years to come to terms with it, but now she war it as a badge of honor. It's was a show of her strength, her survival. She felt another kiss on her neck and she closed her eyes, sighing happily. She turned in her husband's arms and wrapped her arms around his neck, giving him a long, slow kiss.
"If we don't leave now, I'll be taking your clothes off," Hermione said with a laugh. They was her husband's grinned and cocked his eyebrow told her he wouldn't object to that. She ran her fingers through his blonde hair and then stepped back to look at him. In a pair of muggle dress pants and white shirt, Draco looked good enough to eat. His emerald green tie matched the wrap dress she had, making then a powerful looking couple. He took her hand in his and squeezed it.
"Let's grab the kids and we'll floo to mum and dad's hotel. We can all go together."
