!TRIGGER WARNING: SUICIDE!
(I have severe depression and anxiety. I get these meltdowns where I want to die, and a lot of time I have no support or even a person who cares about me enough to stay alive. I had one of these attacks recently, where my bff of 26 years basically was horrible to me. Calling me names and everything. We've spent our entire lives together, we are no longer friends. But, things like that can push people to suicide! This story is inspired by my recent attack!)
Ladybug, Please Wake Up!
Ladybug moans and rubs her head. She has had a stress migraine for about a week now. Scrolling through her feeds, seeing how happy everyone is, and how much they've accomplished in their first week of University. Makes her feel even worse than she already does. Her first week in her new Fashion Degree, has been the worst week of her life. She messed up on a simple design so badly, even the teacher laughed at her. Then she set the sewing machine on fire, and her school cancelled for the day. Ok, even the teacher said that wasn't her fault, the machines are old. The way the teacher smirked at her folder of designs, he hates her, she just knows it.
Also, the fact that she's there on scholarship and not paying for it herself or her parents. Like the rest of the students there. They're all rich like Chloe, not poor like Marinette herself. Another thing sets her apart from everyone. Doesn't help that her roommate is like Chloe's twin, just hornier. All she does all night is have sex. Marinette can't get a wink of sleep. Who even screams that much during sex anyway! How the girl isn't tired during the day is beyond her.
The icing on the cake is, Marinette got a 57% on her first test. It was a basic test on stuff she has known since she was an itty bitty baby, yet she got it all wrong? How?! How had she failed so miserably in only 5 days?! Has she been lying to herself this whole time, her whole life? Does she really not know a damned thing about fashion after all? Is her supposed talent nothing more than people just being nice to her, not wanting to hurt her feelings?
Or is she just delusional into thinking the fashion world would ever accept a poor girl from a bakery? She should have accepted the letter of recommendation from Mr Agreste, but she didn't want people to think he got her in. Now, she's starting to think, perhaps he did get her in. Obviously, she has no talent that got her in. She could really use a Kitty Cuddle.
Smiling for the first time in a week, she hears boots hit the roof. Turning to look at her boyfriend, Cat Noir, she frowns. He's frowning, and his steps are heavy and angry. Another thing that's been bothering her lately. Her Cat hasn't been himself lately. He's been so moody, snippy and testy. She's too scared to tell him about her feelings and fears, as the last time she tried. He dismissed her, rather roughly at that. She wishes he'd let her in and tell her.
"Hey My Kitty!" She smiles as bright as she can for him. He doesn't need her problems added on.
"Yeah, hi." He drops to the roof beside her and grunts.
Sighing, she turns back to the city. Lately, he's been acting like coming to see her and patrolling is a big waste of time and energy. Like, he'd rather be anywhere else, then here.
"How was your day?" He asks as he sighs and sits up.
"It was-" She begins, but as usual he cuts her off.
"Mine was crap, as usual! I wish my Father would just get off my back and let me do my job for crying out loud. Everyday it's the same thing, over and over again. Gah!" Slamming his staff down onto the roof, he grunts.
Jumping, she glances over at him. Sighing, she lays her head on her knees and tries to stop herself from crying.
"I wish you'd ask me how my day was, then actually listen. I wish you'd hold me while I sobbed, instead of ignoring me and ranting about the damn thing every day. I wish I had my Kitty back, the one I fell in love with. Not this cranky, nasty boy next to me. I wish I actually felt like you want to see me, instead of it being a waste of energy and a nuisance to you!" She snaps, then freezes, did she just say that all out loud.
"What?! Really? That's what you wish? You have no idea, what my life is like. NONE!" He snaps back, she can hear the sneer in his voice.
"That's because you won't tell me. Just make random whines about your dad. No-one's forcing you to work for him, or stay with him. You still live with him. Leave if you hate it so much!" She snaps again, the tears flowing freely.
"That's easy for you to say, in your perfect little life! What do you know?!" Jumping to his feet and takes a few steps away.
"Wait, Kitty please!" She reaches out for him, but he pulls away.
"You're right, this is a waste of my time and energy. I'm too busy for these stupid meetings. Goodbye." Pulling out his staff he leaps to another roof and runs off.
"Fine, go on then! Leave!" Sobbing she falls to her knees, burying her face in her hands.
"Perfect life… perfect life?! Everyone thinks I have a perfect life! I hate my life, all I want to do is… is…" Blinking, she stands up and walks to the edge of the roof. Looking down at the traffic, she lands on the sidewalk, before even realising she'd jumped.
Without even calling off her transformation, she takes off the earrings and puts them in her pocket. Not even bothering to wipe away her tears, she spins around at the sound of boots. But, it's only a man running for the bus that is zooming towards her.
Glancing at the bus, she closes her eyes and steps in front of the bus.
Marinette doesn't feel the bus hit her, or remember hitting the ground, or anything after that, in fact. The only thing she remembers is she wanted to die. To stop feeling ashamed, in pain, and the voices of people laughing at her for failing. And most of all, the look of disgust and anger on Cat's face. The man who swore he loved her more than life its self, who would love her until the end of time. Had finally got sick of her and left her, left her all alone, to deal with her shitty life by herself. She just… can't.
The one thing she didn't see, is Cat Noir rushing back to the roof they were on, to apologise and beg her forgiveness. Only to not find her, and to find a crowd around a bus. As he got closer, he noticed Marinette's broken and bleeding body. Then he noticed the earrings, her earrings, Ladybugs earrings. Looking down at Marinette, he hears the people around him say how she just stepped out into traffic, with her eyes closed. That's when he knew this is all his fault!
