Virgil was in his workshop, tinkering.
There was no real aim in his activity, he just needed to keep his hands busy. It helped to keep his mind off of…well, it didn't really, but it meant the longer he spent down here, the less time he had to spend with Him.
He gritted his teeth.
International Rescue was in his blood and he'd never abandon people while he could help them, but there were times Virgil wished he had left with Scott. He missed his best friend desperately, as several dark canvases could attest. Two years was a long time.
Currently he was half listening to a newscast he had playing quietly in the background. Monsoon season was always their busiest time, and while tinkering was his excuse to avoid going up to the villa, he was also using the time wisely in making sure everything was prepped and ready to go.
At least, that's what he told Him when the man asked why he hadn't come up.
There was talk of Jakarta becoming overwhelmed by the recent rains, and Two was all ready to go – which The Commander would have known if he could get his head out of his ass and really think about it. Rigby and Dosela had been more than helpful getting things ready with him and running interference as needed.
He sighed. This last week had been exceptionally busy on the rescue front. Hell, this whole season had, and while he got on well with Rigby and Dosela, they weren't Scott and Gordon and there was just that missing spark that made his brothers and himself work so well together.
Virgil missed his three brothers like half his soul was missing.
Laughing at himself, he picked up a hex driver and put it back in its' place, picking up his cleaning rag and wiping the surfaces down. He better get upstairs before Grandma came looking for him.
Before he had even made it out of his workshop his comms pinged. His *private* comm.
'John?'
'John is currently prepping for a HALO drop.'
'EOS! What's going on? Where is John going?'
'John is dropping in on Scott. There has been a shooting and Scott is injured.'
Virgil's blood ran cold. He knew that both his eldest and immediately youngest brothers were in a very dangerous line of work, but then he couldn't say he and John were any safer really. But they were not routinely getting shot at; and knowing Scott's propensity for jumping in front of people he cared about…damnit!
'John is requesting that you stay put to help maintain his cover, plus it is likely you will be called out within the next twelve hours if the rainfall continues.'
'Understood. Keep me informed please, EOS.'
'Of course. Five out.'
