Chapter I:
In a world that neither man nor woman should know exist, is a daunting story waiting to be revealed. A story of change, triumph, decay, and love. But most of all a tragic being given a chance to find and experience real love; something that he has decided was not meant for him.
But Fate, had a different idea…And so did a certain young woman.
We begin with the story of Morpheus. The King of Dreaming, the creator of all dreams and nightmares. A beautiful man indeed, well anthropomorphic personification as he likes to say, which in our terms is Godlike, it doesn't matter, he's handsome, in an emo gothic style way.
Even though he's this absolutely beautiful being, he's kind of a moody asshole that has this thing with being self-righteous, kind of entitled because 'I'm a higher being than Gods' attitude towards life in general but he gets better with each human he meets in the modern world after his capture and release… which is where the story begins, with the meeting of our two love birds.
Morpheus, having been tasked with keeping humanity safe until the day comes when we cease to exist, was in the waking world at the time of his unfortunate demise, trying to find three nightmares that had escaped, at the hands of a man, well more devil than man, by the name of Roderick Burgess.
"Still not willing to budge, eh?" said Roderick
The man known as the "The Magus" but really should have been known as the devil for his inhumane cruelty and abusive nature.
"…." Morpheus
"So be it. When you're ready to talk, I'll return your items….maybe" said Roderick before turning away to walk up the stairs out of the dungeon.
"Ole' bugger doesn't give the Magus an inch, does he?" said one of the guards.
"Heh, he probably can't speak. Hasn't spoken a word since they captured him" said the other.
"Probably right mate, but either way what do you think he's thinking? All he does is stare. It creeps me the fuck out".
"Who cares? He's never getting out, besides, he's a weak and powerless toy. Once the Magus gets what he wants, he'll still be caged until he dies".
As they both laughed, Morpheus, having heard the entire conversation, was vengeful.
15 years later….
"Alex, where the bloody are you?!" yelled Roderick
"Ri..right here father…I'm..I'm sorr…"
"Never mind! You're coming down to the basement to get the little demon to talk"
"But he never talks father, he doesn't wish too. Can't we just let him go?"
Roderick, having heard enough struck him down.
"Did the little demon tell you to say that? To go up against your own father?! Do you want to die you little shit?! Then let's have at it, you worthless quim!"
Grabbing Alex by his collar, Roderick drags him downstairs and throws him in front of Morpheus.
Confused, Morpheus looks up and observes the conflict happening.
"You want your freedom Dream?! You want your items once and for all? GIVE ME WHAT I WANT" screamed Roderick.
"Father stop!" yelled Alex as he grabbed for his father's cane.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" yelled Roderick as he fought Alex over the cane
"You would never be the man Randall was! HE was my pride and joy! You are nothing to me!"
"If Randall was here, he would hate you just like me!" yelled Alex
"Why you…" before Roderick could finish that sentence Alex pushed his father into a wall where Roderick hit his head and fell to the ground, gasping.
"Father…oh no. No no no! Someone please HELP! As Alex was yelling for help, the guards and butlers came running down to the basement.
"You'll…never…get…out…." breathed Roderick Burgess last words.
As Morpheus was watching, he looked at Alex and was waiting for him to set him free.
He never did.
But he never realized the consequences he would face from that decision.
