At the end of August, Edward and Ben were coming home from the train station with their visitors. Edward had asked Izumi and Sig to come stay with Winry and Ben. Edward had to go to Central for the Alchemist examinations so he could help Mustang monitor them. The alchemists were forming a society group to better make connections, and it also helped with providing laws and ethical rules for performing alchemy.

There would be a few meetings and social gatherings but this was also when Winry was close to being due with a new baby. She knew this was important to her husband so she urged him to go. Edward only agreed if he had someone here to help her with Ben. She was having difficulty with her size trying to take care of a two year old.

Winry greeted them at the door. Izumi hugged her. "Winry, you look wonderful."

Winry almost laughed because she felt huge. Anytime she took a step, it felt like there was a bowling ball pressed low on her pelvis. "Oh thank you. Just remind me to never be this pregnant in the summer. The heat is unbearable." She wanted to blame Edward so she could be angry but really she knew she had messed up the birth control.

After everyone was settled, Edward brought a pitcher of lemonade to the kitchen table. He poured Winry a glass because she felt warm from the summer heat.

Sig asked the young couple "So what do you think this one will be? A boy or a girl?"

Winry crossed her arms "Well I think it's a girl."

"No way! Definitely a boy! Ben needs a brother." Edward crossed his arms too.

Winry snorted "Well I'm connected to it. I would think I would know."

Izumi and Sig laughed at them which caused them to stop bickering and just turn away from each other. Izumi asked Ben "What do you think the baby's going to be? A boy or a girl?"

"A boy! Daddy said I need a brother, just like him and Uncle Al."

Winry eyed Edward. "Really? You're convincing him that it's a boy? Well a little sister could be just as great. Girls can be tough too."

Ed rolled his eyes. "Yeah, you don't need to remind me."

Winry scoffed. Izumi gave Edward a look. "Edward, be kind to your very pregnant wife." Edward's hair rose up. He was starting to feel Izumi's pressure.

The next day, Edward and Winry were in their room. Edward had finished packing his suitcase. He insisted that she not walk to the train station, and she gladly accepted that. He kissed her goodbye and told her "Take it easy, okay?"

"I will. You be safe." Winry hugged him as much as her pregnant body would allow. Edward said his goodbyes downstairs, and promised Ben that he would be back in a week. Edward left to Central to help begin the Amestrian Alchemist Society.

Five days into the trip, Edward and Mustang had made great progress in forming the society, and helping to establish ethical rules and laws. Edward had made great connections that may also help in his research.

But on this day, General Mustang was running through the hotel, where the society was meeting. He was looking through the dining room, and finally found the blonde hair pulled back in a pony tail. He grabbed Edward's shoulder and stopped to catch his breath. Edward and his colleagues were looking at the General like he was a mad man.

"General, what's the matter with you? You're really out of shape, aren't you?"

Roy glared at him. "You ass! I came to tell you that your wife is in labor!"

Edward's face sunk. He looked around not sure what to do. He looked up at his colleagues. And it dawned on him. "Oh shit! I gotta get home!" The alchemists were understanding and nodded saying congratulations and hoping to stay in touch. Edward ran upstairs, threw his clothes in his suitcase, and ran to Roy's car, which was parked just outside the hotel.

Roy drove quickly to get Edward to the train station, and Edward expressed his gratitude. He ran and got on the moving train to Risembool. He felt terrible that his wife was having a baby without him there to support her. 'I have to make it in time,' he thought but he had no control over it.

Later that night, Edward arrived in Risembool. He grabbed his suitcase and ran as fast as he could. "Damn it! I was making fun of Roy for being out of shape but here I am out of breath myself." He made it to the house and opened the front door, dropping his suitcase on the floor. He ran up the stairs hearing Winry crying out. Sig saw him from the top of the stairs.

"You made it back," Sig said.

"Yeah," Edward looked around breathing heavily. "Where's Ben?"

"He's asleep."

"Good." Edward huffed out. He opened his bedroom door. The midwife was ready to deliver the baby and counting for Winry as she was pushing. Izumi was holding her hand. Winry stopped pushing when the midwife told her to. Edward ran to her side. "Winry!" he yelled as he grabbed her hand other hand.

Winry freed her hand from him and grabbed his shirt. "DON'T YOU EVER FUCKING LEAVE ME AGAIN!"

"I WON'T! I PROMISE!" Edward yelled back. He felt incredibly guilty as another contraction hit his wife. She cried in agony.

"Mrs. Elric, you need to focus. Now push," The midwife started counting again. And a few minutes later, they heard the best sound. A newborn crying, using it's lungs to breathe for the first time.

The midwife wrapped the baby in towels. "It's a girl." She handed the wiggling bundle to Winry. Edward and Winry looked at the infant, taking in her features. Blue eyes and light blonde wisps of hair, and all ten fingers and toes. "Oh Ed, look, she's perfect."

"Yeah she is." Edward said as he kissed his wife's forehead.

"I told you it was a girl."

Ed rolled his eyes. "Oh fine. You were right." He didn't care right now. The baby and his wife were healthy.

Izumi looked at the baby. "Well one thing is for sure. You two make some beautiful babies. What's her name?"

Edward looked at Winry. Since it was a girl, she got to choose. "Lucy. Lucy Sara Elric. Sara was my mom's name."

After mom and baby were cleaned up and baby got to eat, they introduced the baby to Sig, who was still waiting in the hallway. Edward and Izumi got the bed ready for them to sleep in. She and Sig also brought in the bassinet out of the nursery. It was close to 1 am so sleep was not too far away.

Edward helped Winry get comfortable in bed. He then realized the promise he had made. "So umm Win. I guess I won't be traveling anymore. I mean, if you need me to stay here, I will."

Winry looked at him oddly. "What are you talking about? You need to travel for your job."

"But you had me promise not to anymore!"

"Are you crazy?! I wouldn't have you do that. Just go to sleep Ed."

Edward was so confused. Did she just forget? 'Screw it! If she forgot, that means I can still travel.'

The next day, Edward brought Ben in. He pulled a chair up to the bed and Ben stood on it. Winry held baby Lucy in her arms in a bundle of blankets. Winry's eyes moistened. She was so happy. Ben looked at the baby in awe. Edward told him "See Ben. This is your new sister, Lucy. You have to protect her, okay? Keep her safe." Ben reached to touch the baby.

Winry took his hand. "Be very gentle." She guided his hand and had him touch the baby's cheeks.

Ben was excited. "She's so soft." But then he was perplexed. "When will she play with me?"

Edward shook his head. His son was so cute. Still learning about the world. "Not for a while. She won't walk or talk for a year."

Ben frowned. "What? A year?!" He was sad that his playmate wasn't really a playmate for a long time. Ben got down from the chair and went to play because he was already bored with the baby.

Edward and Winry looked at each and laughed a little at their son's reaction. He kissed his wife and then touched his forehead to hers as they looked at their new addition. "She's beautiful, sweetheart, just like her mom."

Winry blushed at the compliment. "Thank you honey."

Edward's stomach gurgled ruining the moment. He hadn't eaten dinner last night. "Sig is downstairs making breakfast. I'll bring you a plate."

Winry giggled. "Get one for yourself, too. I think you're hungrier than me."

A week later….

Several boxes were delivered to the Elric residence. Edward brought the boxes in and set them on the kitchen table. "Who are these from?" Edward wondered. They were addressed to him.

Winry came in. "Packages? Who are they from?"

"Beats me." Edward started opening them. Winry and Edward peered in one of them. A card was on top and Edward opened it. "Its from the alchemists I was having lunch with."

Winry started taking out the pink dresses and baby clothes and blankets. Izumi came in holding the baby. The women admired how cute all the items were.

Edward sighed. "It's like an explosion of pink happened in here."

Winry hit him on the shoulder with Izumi knocking him in the back of the head with her free arm. Edward groaned. These women would be the death of him, and now they have one more little girl added to their squad.
