April 1927

Ben 8

Lucy 5

Sophie 16 months

Kisa 17 months

Edward and Winry were sitting on benches anxious and excited. They were watching Ben play his first baseball game. Sophie and Lucy sat next to Winry. Ben was the pitcher and was able to strike someone out. Edward couldn't be prouder.

Winry pointed out. "He's doing great, isn't he?"

"Of course he is. We've been practicing."

Edward and Winry were enthralled watching their eldest do something on his own. But while they were entertained, Sophie was not. She looked around and went to wander off. Lucy noticed. "No Sophie, we need to stay and watch Ben."

Winry turned to her girls. "Sophie, here. I brought a book for you to look at." Winry gave her the book and Sophie seemed satisfied looking at it while Lucy turned the pages for her. Winry sighed. 'That should keep her occupied for a little bit.'

Then Alphonse showed up with Kisa. He sat next to Edward. "Sorry we're late. Did we miss anything?"

"He already got someone out!" Edward beamed. But when he saw his brother, he noticed that he wasn't as lively as usual. "Everything okay?"

"Sort of. I'll tell you later."

Edward was concerned. "You can tell me now."

"No, lets just watch his game. It can wait."

"Okay." Edward went back to watching his son.

Sophie cried out "Kisa!" and she got down and went to sit next to Kisa. Lucy brought the book over to the girls and showed them the pages. She knew the book so she could tell the story.

Eventually Ben's team had to switch with the other team so Ben was sitting with the other players in the dugout. Sophie got tired of the book and noticed her brother. She got up and went to the dugout with Kisa following. Lucy grabbed Sophie's hand. "No Sophie, we have to leave brother alone."

Sophie tried pulling away but couldn't. She then slapped Lucy's hand. Lucy yelled "Ow! Mom! Sophie hit me!" Winry turned and saw the scene. She got up and marched over. Sophie backed away slowly. Mom was scary when she was angry.

Winry looked down and scolded Sophie "You do not hit your sister! You're being really bad, Sophie!"

Ben and the other players had turned to watch the scene. Ben got up and went to Sophie. "Sophie, did you just want a hug?" Sophie stood with tears in her eyes. Ben hugged her. "Sophie, you can't come with me in there. But I'll hug you right after the game, okay?" Sophie sniffled.

As Edward and Alphonse watched, Edward asked "So what's really going on? It doesn't have to wait."

"You're as patient as ever brother. Fine. Mei's pregnant."

Edward jumped back with his eyes widened. "Already? Damn!" Alphonse lowered his head and sighed. Edward did the math in his head. "Wait, Kisa is … 17 months old!"

"Yeah, I know how old she is." Alphonse answered shortly.

Edward read his brother's body language. "So, it wasn't intended, huh?"

"No. We wanted more space between children but well…. It just happened."

Edward put his arm on his brother's back. "It's fine. We'll help you two out. We can watch Kisa anytime. Her and Sophie are almost inseparable."

"That'd be nice. Thanks brother. But I'm worried Sophie might be a bad influence."

Edward chuckled. "Not any worse influence than I was. And you came out just fine."

"I guess you're right," Alphonse laughed.

Edward then thought about he and Winry's accident. "And you know what. Lucy was an oops. And everything turned out fine. I can't imagine our lives without her."

Alphonse was surprised "Really? Lucy?"

Edward smiled "It seems like we're making a small clan. I think mom would have loved it. Being surrounded by these all these kids."

Alphonse looked back at the baseball field. "Yeah. He would have liked it too."

Edward stiffened and then relaxed. "You're right. He would have."

Winry came back to the bench huffing and puffing dragging Sophie with Lucy and Kisa following her. Kisa immediately went to her father's lap and snuggled him.

Winry was upset. "Thanks for all your help down there!"

Edward scoffed. "What? You know how to handle it. Plus the kids are more scared of you than me."

Winry got in his face. "Because I'm not such a softy like you!"

"I discipline them too! Sheesh!" Edward crossed his arms.

Winry looked at Sophie. "Sit next to your father! I'm on break right now!"

"Break?! Fine! Come here Sophie," Edward picked up Sophie and set her in his lap. Lucy sat next to Uncle Al because she didn't like the heat radiating from Winry.

Alphonse smiled. He liked Edward's idea of them making a small clan. He wondered how big the clan would get once all the children were grown and having children of their own. It could be more than a small clan that they were building.

Author's note: So this story will have an ending when Ben is 13 or 14. Just in case anyone was wondering. And I wish Hohenheim had lived to see all the children they had. I think he actually would have been a good grandfather.
