"Cat! Cat!" Marinette burst into Cat's cabin, gasping for breath. "What is it?" Cat leaped up from his comfy armchair he was reading in. "My Pocket Elf, she flew away!" "What?" "The wind caught her as she was going out the door and whoosh! She rose into the sky, holding onto her red hat!"

Cat looked out the window at the blustery day. Even in his cabin he could hear the wind making a haunting melody before the storm rolled in. "Do I need to get out the earrings?" he asked, striding over to the box that held the Miraculous of the Ladybug. "Yes, please, hurry, Cat!"

Cat handed her the red shimmering earrings and Marinette quickly fastened them to her ears. When she wore these she had the powers of a Ladybug, and she was able to fly.

Cat held her hand as she stepped out the door, and the two best were nearly blown over by the playful wind. "Be careful up there, Marinette," Cat raised his voice to be heard above the wind. She quickly kissed him and yelled, "Spots On!"

Cat marveled as the pink light enveloped her and the red-and-black suit appeared along with the white wings. "Be safe," he whispered as Marinette flew up into the sky.

It wasn't easy flying as the wind tossed her about like a toy. She dodged green and colorful leaves as flew. The sun still shone in the sky, but dark rolling clouds were rolling in from the West. Ladybug scanned the horizon, but she didn't see her little pocket elf anywhere.

She flew higher, shivering a little as it was very cold up here near the clouds. Then just a little lower down she spotted a red blurred figure. Green leaves branched out on either side, looked like little parachutes and they twirled and spun in the wind.

She fought her way down from the clouds as the wind was her enemy, wanting to keep her in the upper atmosphere. "Pocket Elf, grab my hand!" Ladybug yelled, but her words were tossed away. Though the Pocket Elf saw her. "Ladybug! If I let go, my hat will be away!"

Marinette had made the red witch like hat especially for her Pocket Elf, but she could always make another. "Leave it!"

Finally, she caught the Pocket Elf, and begin to fly towards earth, the grip of the wind, finally easing up.

"Is the hot chocolate warm enough?" Cat asked later. The three of them were in Cat's kitchen drinking hot chocolate and munching on biscuits. "Its fine, Cat Noir," the little elf said. "Though I feel so bad, losing the hat, Marinette!"

"Please, our friendship is worth more then any hat," Marinette told her. "Child, you are true friend," the elf said, smiling at her.

The next morning, Marinette took her daily walk through the forest, she found Cat on the little bridge, fishing. "Any luck finding the hat?" Cat asked, after giving her a hug. She shook head, looking into the blue water. "She's still asleep, the little dear, I guess flying through the air is exhausting!" the two friends giggled, and Cat stopped abruptly when he felt a tug at his line. Carefully, he lured in his catch, smiling when he saw it was a tiny red witches hat. "The hat! That's my pocket elf's hat!" Marinette cried, and kissed Cat's cheek. "I'm going to make you a big thank you breakfast!"

Before Cat could say anything, Marinette was dashing towards her cabin, leaves crunching underfoot.

Just before she entered, she hid the hat in cloak, she would surprise her elf during breakfast after letting the hat dry by the fire.

"Were you seeing Cat Noir, Marinette?" the Pocket Elf asked. Usually, the elf's voice was bright and cheerful, but today it was sad. "Yes, he's coming for breakfast in a bit," Marinette told her, glad she was able to distract herself from blurting out the secret.

She made a quiche and a strawberry tart, the berries and eggs from her garden and chickens. "I don't suppose…." the elf's voice trailed off, and she sighed.

Soon the room was smelling good, and Cat walked in, wearing his green cloak. "Old Man Winter will be knocking soon enough," he said, warming his hands by the fire.

They sat down to eat and Marinette raised her hands above her head, pretending to stretch. Her fingers brushed the now dry hat and handed it to the astonished elf. "Surprise!"

"Marinette, where did you find this?" The Pocket Elf looked at her hat in awe, then back at Marinette. "I didn't," Marinette giggled. "Cat did when he was fishing this morning."

"You two really help the forest out even when your not even trying," the elf said, her eyes looking at the two best friends. "I like to help," Marinette said. Her Ladybug powers were used very rarely, but when Marinette helped, it made her glow all over.

After breakfast, the Pocket Elf sat enjoying the fire, watch Cat flirt with his Princess. It wouldn't be long before they fell in love, she thought.

Marinette would have to use her herbal remedies and knowledge of plants to good use soon, but for now everything was peaceful in the forest.
